Bills vs. Chiefs score, live updates: AFC championship pits Patrick Mahomes against Josh Allen with the winner headed to Super Bowl LIX

Yahoo26-01-2025
The NFL playoffs always produce legendary moments and matchups, but there really is something special about two teams — and two superstar players, in their primes — battling for all the marbles. On Sunday, Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen lead the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills, respectively, into the AFC Championship game with the Chiefs looking for some NFL history if they can make it to Super Bowl LIX. Kansas City — which lost to Buffalo on the road earlier this year — is vying to become the first team in the Super Bowl-era to win three straight championships.
Kansas City is also trying to knock Allen and the Bills out of the playoffs for the fourth time in the last five seasons. During that span, the Bills and Chiefs have played every regular season and the Bills have each won each of their four-regular season matchups since 2021, including three wins in Kansas City. With a win Sunday, Buffalo would head to the Super Bowl for the first time in 31 years.

Rams news: MVP talk, surprise player and more for Cardinals fans to know

We check in with the Cardinals' NFC West rival Rams to see what has been going on recently. Another week in the NFL offseason, so it is time to see what has been going on with the Arizona Cardinals' NFC West rivals — the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks. What is new as we await the start of training camps later this month? Below are a few stories from the last week that Cardinals fans should know about the Rams. Davante Adams sees potential MVP for Matthew Stafford Adams has spent most of his career as a teammate of Aaron Rodgers, who has won three MVP awards. Adams sees shades of Rodgers from those seasons in Matthew Stafford. Byron Young named Rams' surprise player Young has 15.5 sacks in two seasons in the NFL. He gets overshadowed by last year's Defensive rookie of the Year Jared Verse, but ESPN named Young the Rams' most surprising player of the offseason. The Rams' red flag The Rams are the favorite to win the NFC West again, but they are leaning on an aging quarterback in Stafford. His age and questions with the offensive line and its ability to protect him are seen as red flags for the Rams in 2025. New LB fitting in The Rams traded linebacker Ernest Jones last year and saw Christian Rozeboom leave in free agency. They signed former Atlanta Falcons linebacker Nathan Landman. So far, he has been a great fit. Rams just a piece away from being really special Hall of Fame running back Jerome Bettis talked about the Rams. He thinks they lack only an impact defensive back to be a "really, really special" team in 2025. Seahawks news: O-line questions, breaking on defense, more for Cardinals fans

We check in with the Cardinals' NFC West rival Seahawks to see what has been going on recently. Another week in the NFL offseason, so it is time to see what has been going on with the Arizona Cardinals' NFC West rivals — the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks. What is new as we await the start of training camps later this month? Below are a few stories from the last week that Cardinals fans should know about the Seahawks. Bouceback year for Kenneth Walker? After a 1,000-yard rookie season in 2022, Walker's production has declined for two consecutive years. Last year, he played in only 11 games and had 573 rushing yards. PFF expects a bounceback year and a return to 1,000 yards. Questions on the O-line Every team enters the summer with questions. One of the biggest questions is the Seahawks' offensive line. But that should surprise nobody. White throwbacks coming The Cardinals never wear throwback jerseys. The Seahawks will, though, this year. They will wear throwback white unis sometime this season. Breakout year from defense expected The Seahawks were bad defensively most of last season but then played much better in the second half of the season. The Athletic expects the defensive to break out in its second season under head coach Mike Macdonald. Surprising surprise player Every team has offseason surprises. For the Seahawks, it was guard Anthony Bradford. He is not expected to start on the offensive line, but he could push for a starting job in camp. Major Steelers News Turns Heads on Thursday

Major Steelers News Turns Heads on Thursday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the NFL's busiest teams this offseason as they gear up for what should be another tough AFC North campaign. Mike Tomlin's squad will feature plenty of new faces, but the front office just locked in one of its most important veterans off the field. Advertisement The team announced Thursday that general manager Omar Khan signed a new three-year contract that will keep him with the Steelers through at least the 2028 season. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero was first to report the news. Khan has been with the organization since 2001, starting as a football administration coordinator. He later moved up to director of football administration, then vice president of football and business administration. In 2022, he was officially named general manager. The move stirred plenty of reaction from fans online. As usual, Steelers Nation had mixed opinions. This fan gets it started: "So far it's been a lot of big swings but not a lot to show for it, that being said I'm extremely excited for this season. Think this is the first year u can really say the roster is built the way he wanted it to be + the clear plan to take a QB in 26. Well deserved." Advertisement "Feels premature tbh," questioned here. The typical Steelers question was addressed, "That means Tomlin stays if they have a .500 or better season." This commenter is not so sure, "Even (after) the Fitzpatrick trade?" Some positive light: "He's made some good deals and had a great draft. Needs to deal with the TJ situation to put the cherry on top." "Oh great, #MikeTomlin & #OmarKhan together for at least 2 mores years to provide the @steelers with more mediocre .500 football & no playoff wins. #TheNewSteelersStandard #HereWeGo," from this fan. Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Omar Khan© Charles LeClaire-Imagn Images Khan has been aggressive in reshaping the team. This offseason, he made a notable trade with the Seattle Seahawks to acquire wide receiver DK Metcalf in exchange for a second-round pick. The Steelers also signed veteran additions Kenneth Gainwell and Darius Slay. Advertisement At quarterback, Aaron Rodgers will take the reins. The four-time MVP turns 42 in December but brings unmatched experience to Pittsburgh. In the 2025 NFL draft, Khan added Oregon defensive tackle Derrick Harmon and Iowa running back Kaleb Johnson, who is expected to replace Najee Harris after his move to the Chargers. As the Steelers prepare for a high-stakes season, Khan's extension signals continuity at the top, even if fan opinions remain divided.
