10 people sent to hospital in aftermath of weekend crash in Vaughan
Police say the collision happened just before 11 p.m. on Saturday, when two SUVs crashed in the intersection of Highway 27 and Rutherford Road, in the Elder Mills area.
One SUV 'immediately' caught fire police say, but all occupants were able to exit the vehicle.
A 69-year-old woman from Vaughan who had been sitting in the back seat of the second SUV was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ten people in total were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say they're still investigating the cause of the crash.

Ontario cottage country murder and arson suspect confirmed dead
Mitchell Gray, the 29-year-old man wanted in connection with a shooting and fire in Ontario's cottage country that triggered a shelter-in-place order and police hunt, has been confirmed dead. Police also confirmed the identity of a man found shot dead in the driveway, 60-year-old Paul Gray. Police did not provide details on their relationships, however, local media are reporting the victims are Mitchell Gray's parents. Police responded to shots fired at the family's home shortly after 8 p.m. Friday. When they arrived, one man was found dead outside and the residence in flames. Two more bodies were later located inside. Police issued a shelter-in-place order, alerting local residents they were responding to an incident involving 'a potentially armed individual in distress.' The advisory was lifted just before 2 a.m. Saturday. Police said that although Gray hadn't been located, he wasn't believed to pose a threat to public safety because the individuals involved were known to each other. Police issued a wanted bulletin. As of Tuesday afternoon, Ontario Provincial Police said they were still searching for Gray. 'He remains outstanding,' an OPP spokesperson told National Post. 'We ask that anyone with information about the incident or his whereabouts to contact police or Crime Stoppers.' Police told that they suspected the bodies inside the fire-gutted home were son and mother but still they searched for Gray. 'You're always never quite sure,' police said. Police seek arsonists for Bradford West Gwillimbury fires

A police car on patrol near Professor Day Drive and Holland Street West saw the smoke and headed over to the school Sunday night. There, both police and firefighters found a portable toilet on fire. Later that night, South Simcoe Police responded to a call about people with a gas can attempting to light things on fire in the same area where the first fire occurred. Once again, police and firefighters arrived and this time found a garbage can on fire with a gas can located nearby. After canvassing the area, witnesses told police about seeing a man and woman walking towards St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School. Police are investigating both incidents and believe that they may be related. South Simcoe Police are appealing to anyone with information or video footage from Sunday in the areas of Fieldcrest Elementary School and St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School to contact Police Const. Toronto police release images of suspect wanted in hate-motivated assault at downtown park
Images of a suspect wanted in connection with a hate-motivated assault in downtown Toronto. (Toronto Police Service) Toronto police have released images of a suspect accused of hurling homophobic slurs and assaulting one person at a downtown park last week. Police said a call came in around 4:20 p.m. on Aug. 1 in the area of Bayview Avenue and Front Street East. One person was speaking on the phone when an unknown man, unprovoked, allegedly began swearing at them and using homophobic slurs. Police said the man then asked the victim if they were recording him on their phone. During their interaction, the suspect allegedly tried to kick the victim, prompting them to run into a nearby business. The suspect followed but subsequently left when police were contacted. Investigators described the suspect as a 40-year-old Brown man, five-foot-10 with a lean build, grey stubble, a beard, and longer hair. He was last seen wearing a dark-coloured baseball hat. Police said the incident is being investigated as a hate-motivated offence. Anyone with information about the suspect's whereabouts is to contact police at 416-808-3500 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
