Two arrested for assaulting tribal youth in Kerala
The arrested men have been identified as Vishnudas, 31, and Reji Mathew, 21.
They work as a driver and assistant for a milk collection vehicle.
According to the complaint, the victim, 19-year-old Siju from Chittoor Unnati, was walking along the Chittoor–Puliyara road in the afternoon of May 24 when he allegedly slipped and fell near a passing pickup van.
The accused claimed he had fallen deliberately to block the road and had damaged the vehicle.
The two men then allegedly tied him to a roadside electric pole and left him there for about 30 minutes, until passers-by released him.
Siju is currently being treated at a hospital, police said.
The men have been booked under relevant sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), they added.

2 thieves targeting locked homes in Indiranagar held
Lucknow: The Lucknow police on Wednesday arrested two thieves who allegedly carried out multiple thefts in the area, recovering a cache of stolen gold and silver ornaments, cash, clothes and an auto-rickshaw used by them. "They roamed in Indiranagar during the day in the auto, pretending to look for passengers but actually searching for locked houses. At night, they returned to these houses, broke open doors and lockers using chisels and iron rods and stole valuables," said DCP, east, Shashank Singh. "By day, they appeared like ordinary men — one driving the auto and another working as a labourer. By night, they turned into burglars, breaking into locked houses," said ACP, Ghazipur, Anindya Vikram Singh. Accused Ravindra Singh (37) and Raju Kashyap (29) were childhood acquaintances who reconnected in Lucknow and hatched a plan to make easy money. The arrests came after the police linked two major theft cases, one on July 7 and another on Aug 18, in which jewellery, cash and ancestral silverware were stolen. Khandwa elderly couple loses Rs 50 lakh in 13-day ‘digital arrest'
Indore: An elderly couple, who run a utensils shop, were virtually held hostage for 13 days at their home in Pandhana tehsil of Khandwa by cybercrooks posing as police officers. The couple, who lost their life savings of Rs 50 lakh in the digital arrest fraud, realised they had been duped only when the wife narrated the incident to her family members. The crooks coerced the couple into breaking their fixed deposits (FDs) and transferring the money. Khandwa SP Manoj Kumar Rai said, the fraud came to light when the wife visited her brother on Janmashtami and finally narrated the ordeal to her family. "A case has been registered against the fraudsters under relevant sections of IT Act and BNS while an investigation has been launched based on the couple's complaint. The police are now tracing the bank accounts to which the money was transferred," Rai told TOI. It all started on July 18 when the couple received a call from a man, who identified himself as a police officer from Colaba police station in Mumbai. The man accused them of being involved in a serious crimes — murder, kidnapping, and fraud — using a SIM card registered under their name. The fraudsters conducted video calls that showed what appeared to be a police station with officers in uniform. The scammers convinced them that their finances also needed to be investigated. In case of enquiry by manager at the bank, the couple was instructed to say they needed the money for a property purchase. Four days later, on July 25, the fraudsters again sent them to the bank to withdraw another FD worth Rs 19.50 lakh, which was also transferred to the scammers' accounts in Hyderabad and Chandigarh. After siphoning off almost all their money, a scammer posing as a 'DSP' conducted a video call and told the couple he understood their situation and could help with bail.
