No diversion of funds from any dept for Ladki Bahin scheme: Fadnavis
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Chief minister
Devendra Fadnavis
clarified on Thursday that no funds from any govt department were diverted towards Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin scheme.
A section of ruling party leaders as well as the opposition had criticized the state govt for alleged diversion of funds from key departments to sustain the scheme.
"The Ladki Bahin scheme is of individual interest. If any funding is made for such a scheme, the money has to be disbursed from the exchequer to that particular department, such as tribal welfare, social justice or other departments. This is the method of accounting for the state's annual budget. Those who fail to understand should come to me as I have already written a book on how to read the annual budget," Fadnavis told newspersons at Parbhani.
He said funds for tribal people and scheduled castes, among other weaker sections, need to be reserved as per their percentage of population, but schemes of individual interest get priority while reserving such funds. "Deputy CM Ajit Pawar (who is also the finance minister) has already offered elaborate explanations on the issue," the CM said. Fadnavis, who was in Parbhani to lay the foundation of the new Government Medical College and Hospital, among other public works, also addressed a public rally in which he announced that the state govt would soon launch as many as 1,200 public services on WhatsApp.

"Right from paying money towards these services to getting the desired documents, everything will be on WhatsApp. We are committed to transparent, pro-people, and speedy governance," he said.
Referring to the FDI data released by the RBI, Fadnavis said that Maharashtra had alone bagged 40% of the total investment in the country. "FDI attracted by Maharashtra is more than such investments in Karnataka and Gujarat among other states taken together.
Even foreign investors have reposed faith in the double engine govt in Maharashtra and made our state their first choice," he said.
Fadnavis also criticised Congress for allegedly raising doubts over 'Operation Sindoor'. "Minds of Congressmen have become 'Pakistan occupied' just like PoK. They are raising doubts over the bravery of our armed forces," he said. The CM said Indian armed forces destroyed nine terror hideouts and killed 150 militants, including family members of terrorist leader Masood Azhar within "23 minutes".
Earlier, addressing an event at Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agricultural University in Parbhani, Fadnavis said that honorary scientist awards will be given to farmers engaged in successful farming and cropping experiments.

PM Modi likely to flag off Vande Bharat train in Katra; his first J&K visit post Pahalgam terror attack
NEW DELHI: In what would be his first visit following Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to flag off the Vande Bharat train from Katra in Jammu and Kashmir. All preparations are underway to ensure the success of the Prime Minister's visit to inaugurate the first Vande Bharat train in the region. Although no official statement regarding the Prime Minister's anticipated visit has been issued, sources have indicated that the local administration in Katra is reportedly making arrangements for the expected event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was previously scheduled to inaugurate the service, but the event was cancelled at the last moment due to inclement weather. Sources have suggested that other railway projects, such as the inauguration of the Chenab Bridge, may also be included in the programme, which is tentatively scheduled to take place on 6 June. In fact, as sources noted, the government aims to complete this programme before 9 June, which marks the 11th anniversary of Narendra Modi's tenure as Prime Minister. The government is reportedly planning nationwide celebrations and outreach programmes highlighting its achievements on that date. 'The date has not yet been finalised, but PM Modi is set to inaugurate the historic Katra-Kashmir Vande Bharat train soon. The tentative date is believed to be 6 June, the day PM Modi is also likely to chair the first meeting of the Union Council of Ministers after Operation Sindoor,' remarked a senior official of the railways, adding that confirmation of the Prime Minister's programme is expected by today. Meanwhile, the local administration in Katra is coordinating with Indian Railways to make all necessary security arrangements and complete other formalities. Sources added that Prime Minister Modi's visit to Katra for the railway function will be his first since the Pahalgam terror attack, and it is expected that he may address the gathering on the occasion. However, sources stated that no tentative programme has yet been announced regarding a possible visit by the Prime Minister to Srinagar.

‘With support of your friends in China…': Shashi Tharoor censures Pakistan, Beijing for shielding terror group at UN
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who is currently leading an all-party delegation overseas, attacked Pakistan and China for preventing Lashkar-e-Taiba's 'The Resistance Front' (TRF) from being named in a UNSC statement. Tharoor alleged that Pakistan, 'with the support of their friends in China', made sure that the front is not named in a press statement made by the United Nations Security Council. While interacting with Ambassador Celso Amorim, Head Adviser of the Special Advisory to the President of Brazil, Tharoor pointed out that India tried to raise the issue of LeT-backed terror group the Resistance Front before the UN Sanctions Committee multiple times, but the action was blocked by China's support to Pakistan. Tharoor said, 'LeT (Lashkar-e-Taiba) has created this front called Resistance Front, we have been reporting about Resistance Front to UN Sanctions Committee, time after time. They (TRF) claimed credit for the killings, and the next day they repeated that claim. But when they realised the gravity of it, their handlers in Pakistan got them to delete the claim. However, their claim is on record for 24 hours.' Attacking Pakistan and Beijing, the Congress MP said, 'When India encouraged our friends on Security Council to mention the Resistance Front in the press statement that Security Council issued, Pakistan government, I am sorry to say that, with the support of your friend in China, took out the name, so there is not even a reference.' Tharoor, among other MPs, is part of an all-party delegation tasked with travelling to dozens of countries and spreading the message behind India's Operation Sindoor and the fight against terrorism. During his interaction with Ambassador Amorim in Brazil, the senior Congress leader said that India's fight is against terrorism being used as an instrument of state policy. He also pointed out how the funerals of terrorists who were killed in Operation Sindoor were attended by senior police and military officials in Pakistan. Tharoor, while holding up a photo of one of these funerals, said, 'When we struck those terror bases on May 7, there was a funeral at one of these sites conducted by Hafiz Abdur Rauf, an LeT figure named by the United Nations. Look who's attending the funeral – uniformed officials of the police and military of Pakistan. These are all senior officials, this is what is going on in Pakistan.'

Punjab man held for sharing sensitive info with Pakistan during Op Sindoor
A man hailing from Punjab's Tarn Taran district was arrested for allegedly sharing sensitive information related to the army's movements during Operation Sindoor with Pakistani intelligence operatives, a top police officer said on Tuesday. Police also recovered a mobile phone containing information, which he shared with the Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIOs). The accused was allegedly in contact with Pakistan's intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and also received money for passing on sensitive information, the police sad. Director General of Police Gauarv Yadav said the accused has been identified as Gagandeep Singh alias Gagan, a resident of Mohalla Rodupur, Gali Nazar Singh Wali, in TarnTaran. He was arrested in a joint operation of the Tarn Taran police and the Counter Intelligence wing of police. 'Arrested accused had been in contact with the #Pakistan #ISI and (Pakistan based Khalistani supporter) Gopal Singh Chawla, sharing sensitive information concerning army movements during #OperationSindoor,' the DGP said in a post on X. Investigations said the accused was engaged in sharing classified details, including troop deployments and strategic locations, posing a threat to national security. Gagandeep had been in touch with Khalistani supporter Gopal Singh Chawla for the past five years, through whom he was introduced to the PIOs, Yadav said. 'He also received payments from #PIOs via #Indianchannels,' he further said. Recovered a mobile phone containing intelligence that he shared with the PIOs, as well as the details of over 20 ISI contacts, he said. Thorough financial and technical investigations are underway to trace other linkages and establish the full scope of this espionage network, the DGP added. An FIR has been registered under the Official Secrets Act at Police Station City, Tarn Taran, and further investigation is in progress, he added. Punjab Police remains committed to safeguarding the sovereignty and integrity of the nation and will take all necessary actions against those involved in anti-national activities, he said. Under Operation Sindoor, the Indian armed forces carried out pre-dawn missile strikes on May 7 on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including the Jaish-e-Mohammad stronghold of Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba's base in Muridke, in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. Earlier, police had arrested six persons, including a woman from Malerkotla district, for allegedly spying for Pakistan.
