Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes continues commitment to the HBCU Legacy Bowl
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes continues to be intensely interested in the development and success of prospects from Historically Black Colleges. He shared his thoughts on the annual showcase during his Super Bowl LIX media session, focusing on its impact.
'Those guys have talent,' said Mahomes. 'Those guys have talent to make it to the NFL and I want to give them the same opportunities I received coming out. Being able to sponsor that event and showcase their talent is a little step that I can do in order to get some additional players in the league.'

Under his foundation '15 and the Mahomies,' Mahomes made a multi-year commitment to the game in 2021. This was established before the game's year. The game's latest edition will take place on February 22nd, and many eyes will be looking for the multiple-time NFL MVP.

Former Alabama wide receiver traded to defending Super Bowl champions
After helping lead the Alabama Crimson Tide to a national championship back in 2020, John Metchie III and DeVonta Smith are now reunited once again, this time in the NFL. On Sunday, Metchie was traded, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter, moving from the Houston Texans to the Philadelphia Eagles. The defending Super Bowl champions, Metchie not only joins his former Crimson Tide teammate on the Eagles, but also many other Alabama players in Philadelphia. That list also includes Jihaad Campbell, Landon Dickerson, Jalen Hurts, Cameron Latu, Eli Ricks, Tyler Steen, and Byron Young. A second round pick in the 2022 NFL draft, Metchie has appeared in a combined 29 games during his professional career, three of which he has started. All coming with Houston, Metchie has hauled in 40 receptions for 412 yards and a touchdown. Last season, Metchie started 3-of-13 games for the Texans, hauling in a career-high 24 receptions for 254 yards and a touchdown. Cheese Curds, 8/18: Anthony Belton's terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad day
The Green Bay Packers had a rough go in the first half of Saturday's preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts. Part of the issue on a general level was surely due to the Packers playing few of their established starters while the Colts kept a good complement of first-team players on the field early. But one player stood out in particular for his rough performance before halftime: rookie tackle Anthony Belton. Belton had a day to forget — or at least to learn from — on Saturday. Mental errors happened consistently, including one that took a would-be touchdown off the board in the second quarter. It was that much more frustrating to see Belton's rough day at right tackle when contrasted against Jordan Morgan, who looked very solid on the left side. Still, Belton was playing in just his second professional game, and if there is ever a time to get those mental errors out of the way and learn from them, it's in the preseason. He is vowing to 'grow up,' (his words) and ensure that another day like that does not happen again — something that the Packers need him to do, given their questionable depth on the offensive line.
