Addressing a public gathering at Prajavedika, Mr Naidu reaffirmed his commitment to the development of Rayalaseema. He recalled that the region's irrigation projects were envisioned by the late N. T. Rama Rao (NTR), and highlighted that the Handri-Neeva project is progressing with an investment of ₹3,800 crore. He assured that the works would soon be completed, ensuring all tanks are filled and reducing the risk of drought by utilising water currently flowing into the sea.
Emphasising the importance of industrial development in Rayalaseema, the Chief Minister announced that the construction of the Kadapa Steel Plant will begin shortly, with the first phase expected to be completed by December 2028.
Additionally, Mr Naidu declared that the Annadata Sukhibhava scheme will be launched tomorrow. Under this initiative, the Andhra Pradesh government will provide ₹14,000 and the central government ₹6,000, offering a total support of ₹20,000 to farmers.

Sharmila on Friday slammed the TDP-led NDA government in the State for removal of the statue of her father and former Chief Minister of the undivided State the late Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy at Nandigama Gandhi Centre. 'On behalf of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Party, we strongly condemn this act,' she posted on X. She said after YSR's demise, the then government had installed his statue at Gandhi Centre in Nandigama. 'If there are any illegal structures setup by YSRCP around the statue, remove them, we have no objection. But if you use that as an excuse to lay hands on YSR's statues, we will not remain silent,' she warned and demanded immediate reinstallation of the statue in the place from which it was removed. She said it was unfortunate that the government was trying to vent its anger on the YSR Congress Party by targeting YSR's statues. Asserting that YSR did not have anything to do with YSR Congress Party, she said her father was a staunch Congress leader, who, as the Chief Minister of the undivided Andhra Pradesh, worked relentlessly for the welfare of the people at the grassroot level. 'Such a great leader, who enjoyed such immense public affection, should not be associated with those who play petty politics. Removing his statue is a disgraceful act,' she reiterated.

Civil aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu has held the first of his monthly meetings with the heads of Indian airlines as part of efforts to strengthen aviation safety and keep track of their activities. The monthly evaluations are part of a broader attempt to bring systemic accountability and proactive oversight amid increasing government scrutiny of airline operations, particularly Air India, following a series of safety-related incidents. The incidents include aborted take-offs, emergency returns, runway excursions, and auxiliary power unit fires, raising concerns about the quality of safety and maintenance practices. 'The first such [monthly] meeting was held on management officials, including the chief executive officers (CEOs) of Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air, attended the meeting. ...the minister chaired it,' said an official aware of the matter. A second official said Naidu will preside over these meetings in the first week of every month. 'The present monthly developments to the minister and those related to safety and maintenance,' said a second official. 'This is being done for a robust system needed for the growing Indian aviation sector.' The aviation ministry last month began meetings with Air India's top management, instructing the airline to ensure the highest safety standards while setting a month-long timeline to review its operations. The first such meeting was held on July 23, where maintenance protocols and safety compliance were key points of discussion. The monthly reviews are expected to help restore public confidence in Indian carriers and ensure strict adherence to global safety benchmarks. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the regulator, ramped up its oversight, conducting multiple spot checks. It has issued directives for mandatory inspections of Air India's B787 fleet, and carried out checks at major airports including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata.
