BHU develops 63 SWAYAM courses for 2025 session
Varanasi: The
Banaras Hindu University
(BHU) developed 63 SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) programmes for the session 2025.
Registration for these programmes, set to begin on July 21 and August 18 in two phases, has started.
The 4, 8, and 12-week duration programmes are developed keeping in mind the academic and professional needs of the learners.
According to the BHU spokesperson, the courses cover a wide range of subjects like commerce, management, arts, humanities, social sciences, life sciences, psychology, law, engineering, and Ayurveda, among others. The programmes include traditional as well as contemporary courses. The exams for these programmes will commence in Oct 2025. The Ministry of Education launched the SWAYAM initiative with the aim of providing quality online education free of charge to all.
The university already developed 37 programmes in the last two sessions. tnn

New Delhi, Air India and Air India Express will do away with flight number '171' after the fatal crash of the Air India plane that killed 241 people onboard on Thursday, according to sources. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft that went down soon after take-off was operating the flight 'AI 171' from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick. Sources on Saturday said it is a general practice that airlines stop using particular flight numbers after fatal flight accidents. The required changes to the booking system were made on Friday, one of the sources said. Another source said that Air India Express has also decided to do away with its flight number 'IX 171'. CHENNAI: The compensation offered by the Tata Group, which owns Air India, for the victims of the AI171 plane crash, aligns with previous industry practices in India concerning aviation accidents, say industry experts. In response to the devastating AI171 plane crash on June 12, the Group had announced a compensation package of Rs 1 crore for each deceased individual, including both passengers and ground victims. The group has also assured full coverage of medical expenses for those injured in the crash. Air India flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, tragically crashed on 12th shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. The aircraft, en route to London Gatwick, crashed into the hostel block of B. J. Medical College in the Meghaninagar neighborhood. The crash resulted in the deaths of 241 individuals, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members. Additionally, 38 people on the ground lost their lives, and over 60 others sustained injuries. "The compensation offered by the Tata Group is well aligned with the previous industry practices in India concerning aviation accidents," said a senior civil aviation industry consultant, talking to The New Indian Express.
