Emmerdale's Danny Miller fights back tears as he says 'I've lost my dad'
Emmerdale star Danny Miller has opened up on his father's battle with dementia, admitting that he's 'lost' his dad and that it's 'hard to cope with'
Emmerdale's Danny Miller has spoken candidly about his father's ongoing battle with dementia
Danny Miller, best known for his role as Aaron Dingle on Emmerdale, appeared visibly emotional during a recent interview on Loose Women as he opened up about his father's battle with dementia. The actor joined the ITV panel show to give fans a glimpse of what's to come in his character's much-anticipated wedding storyline, teasing that there are a few "surprises" in store.
However, the tone shifted when the conversation turned to more personal matters. Danny, who is currently expecting his third child, became tearful while discussing his father's condition.

Responding to a question from Denise Welch, he said: "I'm hoping he's watching in his care home back in Manchester because I did tell the care staff there, who are amazing, to pop it on so he could have a little 15 minutes of fame that he's not had for a while."

Danny's 90-year-old father Vince, once celebrated as the "king of comperes" retired from a remarkable 65-year career in the spotlight in 2017.
The I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! winner added: "My dad is the reason I'm in this business. The truth of the matter is that I've lost my dad, and that's hard for me to cope with because I really, really miss him.
"I miss picking up the phone to him, it's just not possible anymore."

Danny also opened up about the mix of good and bad visits when seeing his father at the care home, reports OK!.
Danny recently shared on Instagram that he's recording these special moments, commenting: "I've started to log that and put that in an Instagram journal because I know there are lots of people I've touched and made relationships with in America who have got the same thing and are looking after their dads.

"It pains me that I can't pick up the phone to my dad anymore, and I always want to make sure that people out there who are suffering with dementia firsthand or secondhand know you're not alone. It's a horrible, horrible terminal illness."
He finished with a heartfelt message: "I love my dad so much and he's the reason that I'm sat here talking to you today, and I love you, dad if you're watching, keep smiling."
Danny often takes to his social platforms to speak candidly about the devastating impact of dementia and its effects on his family. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter

In a touching tribute last September, Danny celebrated his father Vince's 90th birthday by posting a video where Vince sang 'My Way' to the delight of attendees.
"Dad, you certainly did it your way. Happy 90th, Pal. One to treasure... and still remembers every word," was the emotional caption Danny added to the birthday video.
Renowned as an expressive actor, Danny has lauded his father Vince as "the best in the business," with the admiration being mutual, as Vince has voiced immense pride in his son's accomplishments.

Vince once proudly stated: "He's doing so very well and he's done it all himself, so now he's up there. I'm so proud."

In an Instagram statement the Welshman, 53, wrote: "My beloved Wynners, From the very depths of my heart — thank you. "These past few months, your love has been the light in my darkest days. Every message, every word of encouragement, every moment you stood by me has carried me through more than you could ever know. 'It breaks my heart to say the BBC has decided not to renew my contract so I won't be returning to my radio show. I'm gutted. "That show wasn't just work — it was home. It was us. We laughed, we cried, we sang like nobody was listening. And somehow, through the airwaves, we became a family. "But here's what I believe with everything I've got: what we built cannot end here. So — deep breath — here goes... We're getting the band back together. "The Wynne Evans Show is coming back, live every day from 9am–12pm on a new app, on Alexa and Google (we don't have to say 'smart speaker' anymore!) and at 'This is our next adventure. And I need you more than ever. We will have great music, my question of the day, the mystery voice, your soundtrack stories and so much more, because we have each other again." News of Wynne's axing comes four months after he was dropped from the Strictly tour for using the word 'spitroast' at the official media photocall. Fresh twist in Strictly row as furious Wynne Evans sues producers after he broke foot & was told to keeping dancing Whilst the star insisted he used it in reference to fellow contestant Jamie Borthwick - in reference to his ability to contort his legs over his head like a chicken - the BBC insist he brought the organisation into disrepute. It is understood Wynne, who has fronted the Go Compare ads since 2009, was informed of the corporation's decision by email on Thursday. It comes just days after he gave an emotional interview to the Sun on Sunday detailing the extent of his mental health battles following the scandal. Asked if he had been made a scapegoat following previous BBC controversies, he said: 'I wouldn't use that word and it's very difficult for the BBC because, historically, and by their own admission they've got it very, very wrong. "So now they have to investigate everything, and they have to be seen to investigate everything. Personally I don't think I was due an investigation but I understand why they've had to go through this process. 'I loved the dancing part, and I did do really well but the rest of it wasn't right for me with my personality and with depression. It wasn't the right thing. 'But I can see other people who have thrived on it, but for me it's not something I would do again. I wish I hadn't done it.' Last night a source close to Wynne said: "He is obviously gutted but deep down, he knew this verdict was probably coming. 'Wynne has been overwhelmed with support from friends, family and celebrities and has already had a couple of exciting TV objects mooted. 'He is now super-excited to get going on his radio show - he has an exciting couple of big name guests already lined up, and cannot wait to see what lies ahead." 5 Wynne was dropped from the Strictly tour for using the word 'spitroast' Credit: PA

The 27-year-old is hoping to use the Miss Great Britain platform to inspire others to embrace self-growth, overcome personal challenges and build confidence through stepping outside their comfort zones. The actress and model – who starred as Princess Jasmine in last year's flagship pantomime Aladdin at Ravenscraig Sport Centre – will go up against dozens of other hopefuls at the competition's Edinburgh heat on Thursday 5 June 2025. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Now returning for her second year after placing first runner-up in 2024, Jennifer has launched her personal platform, Empower in Every Step, which encourages others to take a leap of faith and step outside their comfort zones. The 27-year-old placed second in last year's competition Jennifer said: 'I had never entered a pageant before last year and honestly, I was terrified. 'But it turned out to be the most empowering experience I've ever had. It pushed me in ways I never expected and helped me grow so much as a person. 'Now, I want to inspire others to do the same, whether it's trying something completely new, standing up for themselves, or just taking that first small step outside of what feels safe.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Earlier this year, she launched a limited Instagram interview series called Walk Through It, where she speaks to a range of different women about how they have overcome setbacks they have previously faced in their lives. Jennifer has raised more than £1,000 for good causes during her time as a finalist Jennifer added: 'Walk Through It was born from a desire to show others they're not alone. 'Everyone goes through hardships in life, but it's about finding strength in the struggle. 'Taking small steps to get back to yourself is powerful and I wanted to create a space where women could share those journeys authentically.' Jennifer Winter will content for the Miss Great Britain Edinburgh crown next week Jennifer continued: 'Fundraising has become such an important part of this journey for me. 'Whether it's raising money or raising awareness, even the smallest actions can make a big impact.' Founded in 2024, the Miss Great Britain Edinburgh competition has enjoyed outstanding success in its inaugural year, with its first-ever titleholder Ava Morgan going on to scoop the national crown at the Miss Great Britain final in Leicester last October. Seeing someone from this very stage go on to win the national title was incredible. 'It would be such an honour to represent Edinburgh, especially as it's the city I work in and love so much. 'To wear that sash and represent a place that means so much to me would be a massive honour. 'No matter the outcome, I hope someone out there sees my story and feels brave enough to start their own.' Established in 1945, Miss Great Britain has long been recognised as the UK's oldest pageant, with previous winners including Capital Scotland presenter Amy Meisak and Scottish model and presenter Deone Robertson.
