TNT's Chot Reyes on offensive interference call: 'We're very fortunate that that was reversed'
Reyes turned out to be right as the shot was ruled by officials as a violation, which reversed the two points that gave the Beermen a slim 98-97 lead in the final 56 seconds of the game.
TNT eventually took the win as the Tropang 5G inched closer to a historic Grand Slam.
"Just when it happened, we were already saying that it looked like an offensive interference," Reyes said after their 99-96 win at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
"Good thing that there was a break on that jump ball that they were able to review it and we're very fortunate that that was reversed."
TNT was on the verge of losing a game that once seemed firmly in their grasp.
The Tropang 5G torched San Miguel from downtown in the first half, burying nine triples and three four-point shots to mount a huge 61-41 lead thanks to the backcourt tandem of Jordan Heading and the returning RR Pogoy. Back-to-back three-pointers from Kelly Williams and Calvin Oftana even gave TNT a comfortable 67-43 cushion early in the third.
But a momentum shift saw Beermen unleashing a wild 19-0 blast in the fourth, which allowed San Miguel to take the lead at 93-92.
The two teams traded baskets in the succeeding plays before Tautuaa received a dish from CJ Perez then drew the defense of Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser and soared for a one-handed dunk attempt over Kelly Williams.
The seasoned big man, though, failed to complete the jam but would get a lucky bounce that sent the ball through the net, giving the Beermen a one-point advantage.
On the next dead ball, officials made a review and deemed the shot illegal due to offensive goaltending.
Reyes welcomed their lucky break as TNT was still able to draw first blood despite losing steam in the second half.
"It could have been a different story if not so that's part of the game, I know the opposite sides of those breaks in the past. It's just that we're very fortunate," he said.

The mixed-doubles field at the U.S. Open, which begins next month in New York, will be a star-studded event. Cheers! San Miguel's Tiongson, Cahilig, Rosales, Calma celebrate first PBA title
It took them a while, but finally, they can call themselves PBA champions. Last Friday, Juami Tiongson, Andreas Cahilig, Kris Rosales, and JM Calma relished their first title as the San Miguel Beermen defeated TNT in Game 6 of the PBA Philippine Cup finals. Tiongson, Cahilig, and Rosales have been in the PBA for quite a while. Tiongson was drafted in 2014, while Rosales made his PBA debut in 2016. Cahilig, meanwhile, entered the league in 2017. "It means more to me. Obviously, with everything I went through in my career. Baka nung nag-start ang career ko, nawala ako sa PBA," Tiongson said. "I made it back and glory to God, and hopefully, win more championships," he added. ? Cahilig, who was also Tiongson's teammate back in Terrafirma, echoed the same sentiment. "It feels very good, I'm very happy. It's been a hard couple of years but it finally paid out," he said. Calvin Oftana doubtful for Gilas Pilipinas in FIBA Asia Cup
Calvin Oftana's health status puts his availability for Gilas Pilipinas in doubt ahead of the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup. National team head coach Tim Cone revealed on Monday that Oftana is uncertain to suit up after the sharpshooter sustained injuries during TNT's finals series against San Miguel in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup. Oftana hurt both of his ankles in the grueling finals clash as the Tropang 5G eventually fell to the Beermen in six games. "We're not sure about Calvin. The medical reports are that he might be out a little bit longer," Cone said following Gilas' 103-98 win over the Macau Black Bears in a friendly encounter at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. "We were given a medical report from his camp so we're not sure if he's going to be available for the whole tournament." Cone, though, isn't worried about the manpower shortage with his trusted wards in Troy Rosario and RJ Abarrientos ready to step in whenever necessary. "We're gonna try to address that today or tomorrow and we got Troy and RJ in the wings to step in if necessary," Cone added. Cone also added that June Mar Fajardo, who sat out the send-off showdown against Macau, will take another three-day off before rejoining physical activities once they land in Jeddah, where they will figure in another friendly game against Jordan before the Asia Cup proper. "But June Mar, we expect him to start practicing when we land in Jeddah," Cone shared. "He changes the game for us, we have to play a different way with June Mar on the floor and that's the only concern because we haven't had practice time with him.
