Jeremy Renner Details Experiencing Death During Snow Plow Accident "I Didn't Want to Come Back" — GeekTyrant

Marvel actor Jeremy Renner went through a death-defying accident and recovery two years ago that he is just now fully detailing in his recently-published memoir, 'My Next Breath.' In the book, he says he briefly experienced what he believes was death during the 2023 New Year's Day snow plow accident that nearly cost him his life. In a recent follow-up interview on Kelly Ripa's 'Let's Talk Off Camera' podcast, the Oscar nominee described this moment as 'a great relief.' 'It's a wonderful, wonderful relief to be removed from your body,' Renner said. 'It is the most exhilarating peace you could ever feel. You don't see anything but what's in your mind's eye. Like, you're the atoms of who you are, the DNA, your spirit. It's the highest adrenaline rush, but the peace that comes with it… it's magnificent. It's so magical.' 'I didn't want to come back,' Renner continued. 'I remember I was brought back and I was so pissed off. I came back, I'm like, 'Aww!' I came back and saw [my] eyeball and I'm like, 'Oh shit, I'm back.' Saw my legs. I'm like, 'Yeah, that's gonna hurt later.' I'm like, 'All right, let me continue to breathe.'' Renner wrote in his book that he briefly died about 30 minutes after his Sno-Cat, a large snow plow that weighs at least 14,330 pounds, ran him over as he was saving his nephew from injury. Renner ultimately regained consciousness and was hospitalized for blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries. His injuries included eight ribs broken in 14 places, a broken right knee and ankle, a broken left leg tibia and ankle, a broken right clavicle and shoulder and more. 'I could see my lifetime,' he writes in the book. 'I could see everything all at once. In death, there was no time, no time at all, yet it was also all time and forever.' Speaking to Ripa, Renner added that feeling like 'a man that didn't want to come back' has made him now 'really be able to be back here and live it on my terms as the captain of my own ship. And get on it or off it, I don't give a fuck. I'm going to live life on my own terms and for nobody else. [It's] very clear. The white noise is ripped away.' After spending nearly a year in recovery, Renner has since gone on to return to acting via his Paramount+ original drama series Mayor of Kingstown . He also filmed a role in Rian Johnson's next 'Knives Out' movie, aptly called Wake Up Dead Man , which is coming to theaters and Netflix this fall. via: Variety

Alex Garland Looking To Cast WARFARE's Kit Connor For Lead Role in A24's ELDEN RING Movie — GeekTyrant

Alex Garland's upcoming adaptation of Elden Ring is in talks with rising actor Kit Connor ( Heartstopper, Warfare ) to lead the dark fantasy epic for A24 and Bandai Namco. While nothing has been signed yet, multiple sources say both Garland and Connor are very much on board and want to make this collaboration happen. Talks are still early, and scheduling hurdles remain, but the pairing makes a lot of sense. Garland just worked with Connor on Warfare , a gritty war drama that also featured Charles Melton, Joseph Quinn, and Will Poulter. That film only strengthened Garland's relationship with A24, a partnership that now spans four out of his five feature films. So it's no surprise the studio is backing him again for what's shaping up to be one of its most ambitious productions ever. The Elden Ring adaptation was already an event, but locking in Kit Connor would mark a huge addition. Connor's rise has been swift from his breakout in Heartstopper to landing high-profile projects like the upcoming Netflix film A Cuban Girl's Guide to Tea and Tomorrow. If the deal closes, this would be another massive step in his trajectory. As for the Elden Ring film itself, Garland is writing and directing, with Game of Thrones mastermind George R. R. Martin producing alongside Vince Gerardis. Martin, of course, helped shape the lore of the original game with FromSoftware's Hidetaka Miyazaki. No story details have been shared, but it would make sense for the film to tell the story of Vyke the Dragonspear. It a really strong story, and if you're not familiar with it, you can read all about it here. With Elden Ring being such a huge and epic video game that has been a massive success, it makes sense that the property is getting the feature film treatment. The game's upcoming expansion, Elden Ring: Nightreign, drops worldwide on May 30. If Garland and Connor lock this in, it'll mark not only a reunion but a big creative partnership that could bring the Lands Between to life in a way that honors both the game's mythic scale and its somber, otherworldly tone. Given Garland's track record ( Ex Machina , Annihilation , Men ), and A24's willingness to go big, fans might be in for something truly special, an epic cinematic saga. Source: Deadline

Audra McDonald Responds To Patti LuPone's Shady Comments: ‘I haven't Seen Her In About 11 Years'

Source: Bruce Glikas / Getty Celebrities slamming each other in interviews is certainly nothing new, but Broadway star Patti LuPone is realizing what happens when you publicly bash a beloved (and may we add history-making) star who is Black, beautiful, talented, and unproblematic. In this case, we're talking about the one and only Audra McDonald. In a recent interview with The New Yorker , LuPone decided to air her issues with McDonald, with whom she once had a very close friendship, by stating that she was 'not a friend.' When asked in the interview how she felt about McDonald's current role on Broadway starring in Gypsy , a role in which she also played, LuPone opted for immense shade instead of an actual response. As noted in the interview, she reportedly glanced outside for 15 seconds before finally answering with, 'What a beautiful day.' McDonald is currently nominated for a Tony for her role in the stage show, and LuPone previously won a Tony for the same role back in 2008. Although she said in the interview that their falling out occurred in the past, many fans believe that LuPone is now publicly bashing McDonald because she feels that McDonald didn't support over previous comments LuPone made about the Alicia Keys-produced musical Hell's Kitchen. Now, McDonald is clapping back. In a clip from an interview with Gayle King on CBS Sunday Mornings , McDonald responded to LuPone's interview, 'If there's a rift between us, I don't know what it is.' She added, 'That's something you'd have to ask Patti about. You know, I haven't seen her in about 11 years just because we've been busy just with life. So I don't know what rift she's talking about, but you'd have to ask her.' Hell's Kitchen star Kecia Lewis previously called out LuPone for calling the show 'too loud,' comments which Lewis labeled as 'bullying,' 'offensive,' 'racially microaggressive,' 'rude' and 'rooted in privilege.' LuPone responded to the incident in the interview, saying of Lewis, 'She calls herself a veteran? Let's find out how many Broadway shows Kecia Lewis has done, because she doesn't know what the f— she's talking about. Don't call yourself a vet, bitch!' Source: Richard Hartog / Getty When told by New Yorker interviewer Michael Schulman that McDonald responded to Lewis's post with supportive emojis, LuPone replied 'Exactly,' she said. 'And I thought, 'You should know better.' That's typical of Audra.' With her 2025 Tony nomination, McDonald is now the most-nominated performer in the history of the Tonys.
