‘Who is this?' Serena Williams just broke Instagram with this skinny selfie
Serena Williams can't win. Scratch that. The tennis icon can win — on the court, snagging 23 Grand Slam titles throughout her incredible career. But on the Internet? Forget about it. Last week, Williams astonished her Instagram followers with a slimmed down appearance, posing in front of a mirror in a black slinky long skirt and crop top. The 43-year-old mom of two has been documenting her weight loss journey a while, working on shedding the pounds. Last summer, the Palm Beach Gardens resident hilariously launched a personal challenge to get back into a Valentino denim skirt she acquired in her pre-pregnancy days. The champ reportedly went from 188 down to 154 pounds by the end of 2024 through a combination of diet (a nutritionist helped) and exercise (something Williams knows well). The California native also revealed she used Lingo, a continuous glucose monitor that tracks blood sugar levels in real time. But in this latest post, it looks as if that cute designer skirt would fall right off of her. Keyboard busybodies, naturally, expressed their unsolicited opinions in the comments section. Some fans were supportive and complimentary telling her she looked amazing. Yet others were concerned by the sudden, dramatic changeup and wondered if she was possibly ill. 'No joking. Is Serena OK? This has been a shocking weight loss. I certainly DON'T want anything to be wrong with her!!!' Some social media users assumed the athlete was on a GLP-1 weight loss drug, like so many other (non-diabetic) Hollywood folks these days. 'Just when you thought the legend was the bad arse who embraced her strength and curves, we now get an Ozempic version of her. Now she looks like everyone else.' A handful didn't even recognize the sports star; e.g., 'Who is this woman?' Buried in the comments were at least a few who didn't attempt to play judge and jury: 'People been on Serena about her body her whole life. Let her live.' But it seems that Williams is fine and focused on wellness so that she can be around to watch her daughters grow up. 'We're all thinking about longevity and everything that we can have at our fingertips, but longevity is something that we have to work at,' she told USA Today late last year. 'And so for me, I'm in that journey in my life where I want to work at that, and I want to create the best scenario I can for that.'

Social media users are proving why nothing beats a Jet2 holiday. What's that?
As of late, the internet seems to be in agreement on one thing: nothing beats a Jet2 holiday. A 2024 television ad for the British airline Jet2 recently resurfaced on TikTok, sparking thousands of users to share their own videos with the audio. Set to the tune of Jess Glynne's 2015 song "Hold My Hand," the ad cheerily declares, "nothing beats a Jet2 holiday." It goes on to detail a discount of £50 per person on flights — which totals £200 for a family of four, the ad points out. The clip has been used over a million times across several audios available on TikTok, with users superimposing the sound over funny moments. Even the voice actor behind the viral audio and the airline itself have weighed in on the trend. Here's what to know. What is a Jet2 holiday? Jet2 is a British airline company. In 2024, it released a television ad titled "nothing beats a Jet2 holiday." The original clip, which has more than two million views on YouTube, promotes a discount on flights using a series of clips of a family on vacation. In British English, it is common to refer to a vacation as a holiday. Voice behind 'nothing beats a Jet2 holiday' weighs in on virality Zoë Lister, a voice actor from the United Kingdom who narrates the viral clip, has leaned into the success on social media. "Chances are if you have a social media account and you live in 2025 on planet Earth, you've heard my voice," she said in an Instagram video this month. Lister said since the audio gained popularity, she has received messages from people all around the world asking about Jet2 holidays. On July 21, Lister and Glynne, the artist whose song is used in the original ad, met up for an appearance on air for Capital UK radio station. "One more thing off our 2025 bucket list" Jet2 commented on the post. 'Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday' trend explained TikTok users have taken over the sound for funny moments that exude the opposite of vacation relaxation — from clips of unwanted rodents and creepy crawlers to activities like axe throwing and surfing gone wrong. Here's a look at some of the videos. Melina Khan is a national trending reporter for USA TODAY. She can be reached at This article originally appeared on USA TODAY: What is the Jet2 holiday meme? SUV crashes into restaurant during food influencers' review: Watch video
A viral video shows the moment two food influencers had a near-death experience while filming content inside a restaurant. Patrick Blackwood told USA TODAY in a statement that he and fellow creator Nina Santiago were eating salmon sliders at Cuvée's Culinary Creations in Houston when an SUV crashed into the glass window next to them. "Tomorrow Is Not Promised," Santiago, also known as @ninaunrated online, wrote in an Instagram post. The video shows the duo sitting on the same side of the booth when the vehicle struck the restaurant, resulting in broken glass shattering over them. Blackwood, who was sitting closer to the window, pushed Santiago out of the way. According to documents from the Harris County Sheriff's Office obtained by Chron, the incident happened on the afternoon of Saturday, Aug. 16 when a motorist thought she had placed her SUV in park, but didn't, and the vehicle "rolled into the business." Watch the jaw-dropping video Watch: Dramatic video shows small plane crash on golf course in Australia 'This could've been our last meal' According to Blackwood, the two did not have any life-threatening injuries, noting only minor scratches. Santiago shared the photos of her in the hospital after the incident. "This experience showed who truly matters; life's too short for grudges or anger. Let go, forgive, live in the now, and cherish those around you this could've been our last meal," she wrote. Blackwood and Santiago were filming for their YouTube food and eating channel, Unrated Ex Files, which has more than 20,000 subscribers. Cuvée's Culinary Creations reposted the video on their Instagram story on Monday, Aug. 18. "It was definitely a crazy weekend at Cuvée's," the restaurant said.
