BRS not have alliance with any party, says Harish Rao
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) will not have an alliance with any party and will contest the elections on its own, senior party leader and MLA T. Harish Rao announced on Monday.
He exuded confidence that the BRS will come back to power in Telangana with 100 seats.
In his speech at the Telangana Formation Day celebrations at BRS headquarters, Telangana Bhavan, Harish Rao said: "Some people are saying that the BRS will join hands with the BJP. The BRS will not have an alliance with any party. It will come to power on its own."
Harish Rao was apparently referring to BRS MLA K. Kavitha's recent claim that attempts are being made in the BRS to have an alliance with the BJP.
Kavitha, who is the daughter of BRS president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), last week said that a proposal was made to merge the BRS with the BJP when she was in jail in the Delhi liquor policy case and that she strongly opposed it.
KCR, Kavitha's brother and BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) or her cousin Harish Rao have not reacted to sensational allegations, which came close on the heels of her confidential letter to KCR getting leaked.
Apparently targeting her brother, Kavitha also made it clear that she will work under the leadership of only KCR.
Harish Rao said KCR recently made it clear that whenever elections are held, the BRS is sure to win 100 seats.
The former Irrigation Minister said that the BJP leaders were not opening their mouths on the injustice to Telangana. He asked them why they were silent on the Godavari-Banakacherla link project being taken up by Andhra Pradesh.
If the BJP MPs have any integrity, they should immediately block the project, he said. He also stated that BRS will approach the Supreme Court to stop the project to protect the state's interests. Only the BRS can protect the interests of Telangana, he said.
Harish Rao warned the officers harassing BRS cadres that their names will be written in the 'Red Book' and they will be taught a lesson once the BRS returns to power.
He reiterated that the Congress government brought shame to Telangana with its inefficiency in conducting the Miss World beauty pageant. Referring to the allegations of inappropriate behaviour during the event by Miss England, the BRS leader demanded that the CCTV footage be made public.
Harish Rao remarked that while KCR was number one in development, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is number one in speaking lies. Disputing the claim of the Chief Minister that women were provided interest-free loans to the tune of Rs 21,000 crore, the former minister said that if the Chief Minister proves this, he will resign.

Punjab Cabinet clears Rs 68-crore loan waiver for 4,727 SC families
The Punjab Cabinet Tuesday approved a proposal to waive loans amounting to Rs 67.84 crore taken by over 4,700 Dalit families from the Punjab Scheduled Castes Land Development and Finance Corporation (PSCFC). The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, decided that loans disbursed till March 31, 2020 will be waived. Talking to the reporters after the meeting, Mann said Finance Minister Harpal Sigh Cheema in his budget speech in March had promised to waive the debt. 'With the Cabinet approval, the promise will now be fulfilled,' he said. 'This marks the beginning of relief and dignity for thousands of families who have been burdened by debt for years. A total of 4,727 families will directly benefit as these loans were given to help them start their livelihoods by opening small businesses like dairy farming, grocery shops, tailoring, boutiques, wooden furniture work, building material or hardware shops, leather goods manufacturing, education loans, or restaurants,' said Mann. The CM said that these loans were given before 1995. 'These families could not repay their loans due to circumstances such as the main earning member passing away, prolonged illness consuming all their savings or having no other source of income left. As recovering these loans from such people was unjust, so the state government has decided to waive them off,' Mann said. Cheema, who was also present at the media briefing, said the debt had been pending for the past 20 years and added that neither the Congress nor the Akali Dal-BJP governments of the past cared for SC families when they were in power. 'The full amount of Rs 67.84 crore comprising Rs 30.02 crore in principal, Rs 22.95 crore in interest, and Rs 14.87 crore in penal interest will be reimbursed to the PSCFC by the state government. The cut-off date for calculating the final interest amount will be the date on which the government issues the notification to implement the scheme,' said Cheema. Later, an official spokesperson of the chief minister's office said that the loan waiver covers all loans disbursed by the PSCFC, offering significant relief to SC and Divyangjan (persons with disabilities) loanees. All 4,727 cases (including 4,685 defaulting loanees and 42 regular loanees) will be covered under this loan waiver scheme. No due certificates will be issued by the district managers of the PSCFC. Loanees who have previously availed benefits under earlier waiver schemes are also eligible for coverage under this initiative. No recovery proceedings will be initiated against loanees under PSCFC loan regulations post-waiver. Their accounts will be considered fully settled as of the cut-off date. However, loanees who filed court cases against the Corporation will not be eligible unless they unconditionally withdraw their cases and provide documented proof. As per the 2011 Census, Scheduled Castes constitute 31.94 percent of Punjab's total population. Many members of this community availed loans from PSCFC to establish self-employment ventures aimed at their economic upliftment. However, some borrowers have been unable to repay their loans due to circumstances beyond their control, leading to defaults, said the spokesperson. The PSCFC is a trusted institution established in 1971 that has been providing low-interest loans to the Scheduled Castes community.

Why A Mega Dalit Outreach Is Part Of BJP's Plan For Poll-Bound Bihar From June 20
Last Updated: Caste arithmetic and an unfavourable result in the elections last year have prompted the party to take steps to win the poll battle The BJP has decided to go all out to woo Dalits of poll-bound Bihar, even before seat-sharing talks have begun among the NDA constituents for the upcoming election. Starting June 20, the party will target the Ravidas community by organising the Sant Shiromani Ravidas Sammelan-cum-honour ceremony in Bihar. Sant Ravidas, a 15th-century Bhakti saint, is a significant figure in the Dalit community and is widely recognised as a Dalit icon. Last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commemorated Ravidas' 647th birth anniversary in his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi. Now, with Bihar election around the corner, BJP has decided to hold such conclaves in different districts and created a schedule for that. News18 has learnt that BJP has fixed conclave dates for Begusarai on June 20, Samastipur on June 22, Madhubani on June 25, Bagaha and Bhagalpur on June 29, Saharsa on June 30, Muzaffarpur and Siwan on July 6, Darbhanga on July 7, Gaya on July 13, Banka on July 16, Arwal on July 18, Khagaria and Sitamarhi on July 20 and Gopalganj on July 31, which will be the season finale. There will also be a special conclave through which Dalit outreach efforts will be made in Bihar's capital Patna though the date for it is not yet finalised. The party wants the Patna conclave to be a show-stopper with big names in attendance, and hence, the date will depend on their availability, say BJP sources. But why the focus on Dalits? Sources in the know suggest there are two reasons behind it. One is pure caste arithmetic. Though the Ravidas community constitutes just 5 per cent of Bihar's voters, if the total Dalit pie in Bihar is taken into consideration, the number jumps to 19 per cent. While BJP is confident about upper castes and OBC support of a few, JDU too brings OBC strengths. Even NDA's smaller allies like Rashtriya Lok Morcha leader Upendra Kushwaha can influence OBC votes. Only former Bihar CM Jitin Ram Majhi's Hindustan Awam Morcha-Secular(HAM-S) and LJP (RV) Chirag Paswan have limited sway over those known as the backwards. The second reason stems from an unfavourable experience in last year's Lok Sabha election when the BJP-led NDA lost nine Lok Sabha seats in Bihar. In 2019 Lok Sabha polls, NDA won 39 seats while in 2024, it managed to win 30. In neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, the situation was even more grim. The BJP-led NDA lost a whopping 28 seats. Later, BJP went on record to accept that Congress managed to twist BJP's '400 paar' campaign slogan as fear mongering among Dalit voters, suggesting their reservation rights are on the line. This worked against the BJP in the two Hindi heartland states. Since June 4 last year, when the results were declared, BJP has taken corrective measures to win the narrative war. However, the party feels that with no big alliance partner that has a solid grip among the Dalit community, the outreach is the best way forward. Sources in the BJP say the plan to carpet-bomb the Ravidas Sammelans was conceived in mid-May when Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi alleged that the Bihar Police stopped him on his way to Ambedkar hostel in Darbhanga, adding that 'they could not stop me because your power (minority community) is watching over me". Back then, Bihar BJP president Dilip Jaiswal had hit out at Gandhi, saying: 'He should use his mind. If he had to use a government building or hostel, he should have sent an official itinerary. He is the Leader of Opposition and a state president of a party has to teach this?" However, it is learnt that this visit may have worked as a catalyst for the state BJP to pre-emptively launch a mega Dalit outreach, having learnt its lessons last year. It just also felt that a global initiative has to be there and a consensus has to be created across the world against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations."The multi-party delegation , led by Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) MP Supriya Sule , had earlier visited South Africa, Ethiopia, and Qatar before arriving in visit aimed to strengthen diplomatic ties, reinforce India's commitment to peace, and update international partners on India's response to the recent terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir 's Pahalgam, where 26 civilians were killed on April their visit, Sule and the delegation held a constructive meeting with Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty in the New Administrative Capital. Abdelatty condemned the Pahalgam attack and assured India of Egypt's continued support, stating such acts of terror would not be tolerated."We had a constructive meeting with the Foreign Minister. He reassured us that India and Egypt must work together in peace, trade, and culture, as the two nations are uniquely placed," Sule added that the Egyptian leadership was among the first to reach out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the April 22 attack, expressing solidarity and reaffirming their commitment to peace and the global fight against terrorism."Under the leadership of our Prime Minister, we had Operation Sindoor, and as a part of that, this is an activity which the Honourable Prime Minister wanted all of us to do. We have come here not just as Members of Parliament or ideologues. We have come as Indians to tell the world what has happened in India five weeks ago," she also addressed the spread of misinformation, stating, "The world has changed, technology has changed our lives, and so has social media and the kind of information going around--some of it factual, some of it deep fake. The Honourable Prime Minister formed seven groups of five MPs each and sent them to four to five countries over the last 10 days."As part of this global outreach, Sule's group interacted with local leaders, opinion makers, and think tanks in Cairo. The delegation also paid floral tributes at the Heliopolis War Memorial in honour of Indian soldiers who laid down their lives during World War I and World War delegation included Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Vikramjeet Singh Sahney, Manish Tewari, Anurag Singh Thakur, Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, Anand Sharma, V Muraleedharan, and Syed Akbaruddin.
