Broncos injury report: Sean Payton confirms torn ACL for offensive lineman
Denver Broncos backup offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo suffered a season-ending ACL injury in a preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday, coach Sean Payton confirmed after Tuesday's practice. Gargiulo (6-5, 310 pounds) was carted off the field in the third quarter of Saturday's 27-7 preseason win and he was placed on injured reserve on Sunday. After practice, Payton indicated Mathis is "fine" and will be back on the field soon. And the good news: Broncos outside linebacker Nik Bonitto (foot), inside linebacker Dre Greenlaw (quad), wide receiver A.T. Perry (ankle) and cornerback Joshua Pickett (wrist/thumb) were back at practice. After losing tight end/fullback Nate Adkins (ankle), Payton said Denver will "pay attention" to the tight end waiver wire once roster cuts begin next week. Adkins was one of the team's best blocking tight ends and a capable fullback, so the Broncos will be in the market to find a short-term replacement in the coming days. New York Giants activate Andrew Thomas from PUP list; Malik Nabers returns to practice
The New York Giants returned to the practice field on Tuesday afternoon at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center and did so with the addition of two offensive superstars and a talented rookie. Head coach Brian Daboll informed reporters that left tackle Andrew Thomas had passed his physical, was being activated from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, and would participate in practice. "Today was the day," Daboll said of Thomas. "We'll take it slow." Thomas was placed on injured reserve (IR) last season after suffering a Lisfranc injury that required surgery. He opened training camp on PUP and had not practiced to date. Daboll delivered additional positive news, revealing that wide receiver Malik Nabers, tight end Chris Manhertz and rookie running back Cam Skattebo would also return to practice. Nabers has been dealing with toe, shoulder, and back injuries, all of which are considered minor. He has not practiced since August 6. Skattebo, meanwhile, has been dealing with a hamstring injury and suffered a "setback" earlier this month. He has not suited up for either of the team's two preseason games. All three players are expected to be available for a Week 1 game against the Washington Commanders.

Giants activate Andrew Thomas from the PUP list
Giants left tackle Andrew Thomas will be joining the team at practice on Tuesday. The Giants announced that Thomas passed a physical, which cleared the way for him to be activated from the physically unable to perform list. He will now be able to participate in practice for the first time this summer. Thomas has been recovering from the Lisfranc injury that put an end to his 2024 season. The team has brought him along slowly with a target of having him available for Week 1 in mind. Tuesday's move opens the door for Thomas to be back in the starting lineup against the Commanders and the Giants will be hoping he stays there for the entire season.
