2026 Chevrolet Traverse Mid-Size SUV Part of GM Stop-Sale Order

General Motors has issued a stop-sale order for three of its mid-size SUVs, as reported by GM Authority.
The Chevy Traverse, Buick Enclave, and GMC Acadia—all 2026 models—are part of the stop-sale, which reportedly involves an undisclosed quality issue.
The stop-sale only involves 92 total GM SUVs, and the automaker expects to resolve the issue by the end of the week.
UPDATED 7/14/25, 6:55 p.m.: A GM spokesperson confirmed the stop-sale order, which only involves 92 total GM mid-size SUVs, including the 2026 Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave. While they didn't provide details about the "quality" issue, they said it's expected to be resolved by the end of the week.
We don't know the exact reason that General Motors has reportedly issued a stop-sale order for some of its three-row mid-size SUVs. However, according to a report by GM Authority, there's a quality-related problem that has led the automaker to pause the sale of certain 2026 Chevy Traverse, Buick Enclave, and GMC Acadia models.

While details are scarce, GMA claims that the stop-sale notice was part of a dealer bulletin (reference number N252517720) that was posted last week on July 7. Until the undisclosed quality issue is resolved, the vehicles cannot be delivered to customers, traded to other dealers, or used for demonstrations. All three GM models recently entered a new generation, which introduced new designs, powertrains, and technology. The trio is also built alongside each other at the Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.
Car and Driver has reached out to a GM representative to confirm the stop-sale order. However, we didn't receive a response by the time of publication. We will update this story with additional information if we learn more.

Financial Overview Despite its innovative tech, the company is not generating any meaningful revenue yet. In Q1 2025, Faraday reported minor revenue of $300,000 million from two FF 91 vehicle deliveries and a net loss of $43.8 million. The balance sheet remains lean. Tesla has rolled out a ride-hailing service in San Francisco, but the lack of a permit to allow it to accept fares from passengers means that it can't yet call it a robotaxi service. The first Tesla Model 3 and Model Y cars hit the streets of San Francisco on Thursday, just over a month after the launch of its robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, where it does have the proper permits. Recommended Videos A video uploaded by a passenger to X shows a Tesla employee with his hands touching the steering wheel as the car drove along in FSD (Full self-driving) mode, Tesla's advanced driver-assist feature. The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) stated recently that at the current time, Tesla has to have a safety driver behind the wheel for testing, as well as to transport members of the public, Reuters reported. The regulator added that the automaker has to undertake a pilot phase that imposes no charges on passengers before applying for full-autonomous permits, a process that Reuters says took competitors such as Waymo 'years' to complete. Tesla is inviting employees' friends and family, and select members of the public, to participate in the early stage of the service. In June, the automaker launched its first robotaxi service in Austin, with a safety monitor sitting in the front passenger seat, not the driver's seat. And unlike the Tesla's ride-hailing cars in San Francisco, Austin's Model Y vehicles have 'robotaxi' branding on the side. Musk said recently that Tesla is planning to get permits to launch its robotaxi service in a number of states, including not only California but also Nevada, Arizona, and Florida. In California, strict regulations have prevented Musk from experiencing the kind of rapid robotaxi rollout that was possible in Texas. Essentially, the San Francisco launch appears to be a strategic move by Tesla to maintain momentum in the autonomous-vehicle sector.
