Telangana government to construct 20 lakh Indiramma houses in four years: Minister Ponguleti
NALGONDA: Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Thursday said that the state government will construct 20 lakh Indiramma houses and hand them over to beneficiaries in the next four years.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating a model Indiramma house constructed on the premises of Nakrekal Mandal Parishad Development Office (MPDO) in Nalgonda district, Srinivasa Reddy said that the primary objective of building Indiramma houses was to empower the poor.
'In the first phase, houses are being allocated to those who do not have a house or cannot even build a wall,' he said and added that houses will be provided to all eligible beneficiaries in phases
'In the first phase, 3,500 houses are allocated to each constituency. This will be followed by three more phases. A total of 20 lakh houses will be constructed across the state at a cost of `5 lakh each,' he added.
The minister said that the Bhu Bharathi Act, introduced by Telangana to solve all land-related problems, will be a role model for the entire country.
New tahsildar office building in Nakrekal
Stating that Nakrekal mandal has been selected for implementation of Bhu Bharathi on a pilot basis, he said all the pending land issues in the mandal will be resolved soon.
Responding to a request made by Nakrekal MLA Vemula Veeresham, the Revenue minister sanctioned a new tahsildar office building for the mandal.
Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the state government has started two prestigious initiatives -- Bhu Bharathi and Indiramma housing scheme.
'With these initiatives, the government intends to resolve all land related problems and build houses for all beneficiaries in every constituency,' he said.
Meanwhile, District Collector Ila Tripathi said that Indiramma Committees have been formed in every village and a gazetted officer appointed for every 200 houses to conduct a survey and prepare the list of beneficiaries, which is then approved by the in-charge minister.
'In Nalgonda district, the first installment of `1 lakh each has been deposited in bank accounts of 167 beneficiaries. The second installment of `2 lakh will be deposited in the accounts of those whose house construction has reached the pillar stage,' the collector added.

Khammam: Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, on Wednesday, distributed sanction letters to the Indiramma Housing Scheme beneficiaries of Edulapuram Municipality area along with District Collector Muzammil Khan and Police Commissioner Sunil Dutt. Speaking on the occasion, Ponguleti said that he was moved to tears when he saw the joy on the faces of the beneficiaries, who received the sanction documents on the day. He said that the response from them was overwhelming. He said that attention was paid by previous rulers on MLA residences and government buildings and not to the houses of the poor people. 'Their dream of owning a house was ignored,' he said. The minister said that the government has allocated Rs 22,500 crore this year for the dream of owning a house for the poor people, and that despite financial difficulties, the welfare of the poor is paramount. He said that the government will sanction houses in the first phase to the poor living in huts. The minister said that the houses being provided to the people at present are only the first phase, and that Indiramma houses will be sanctioned every year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially launch a massive project to restore degraded land in the Aravalli mountain range on Thursday, Environment Ministry sources said on Tuesday. Modi will plant saplings in the ridge area in South Delhi, a part of the mountain range stretching 700 km from Gujarat to the national capital, the sources said. The CMs of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat will participate in the launch of the project. Sources said around 1,000 nurseries will be developed in 29 districts falling in the Aravalli range as part of the project. The Aravallis, India's oldest mountain range, are the source of important rivers such as the Chambal, Sabarmati and the Luni. Its forests, grasslands and wetlands support endangered plant and animal species. Face-to-face programme flooded with requests for more Indiramma houses in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Applications for Indiramma houses within the Greater Hyderabad limits flooded the face-to-face programme conducted by BC welfare and city in charge minister, Ponnam Prabhakar, at the Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday. A majority of the people who came to the programme were from the state capital, with a few from neighbouring districts. The people urged Ponnam to sanction Indiramma houses and requested that he ask the chief minister to increase the quota of Indiramma houses for the poor in the city. The state govt sanctioned 3,500 Indiramma houses for each of the 119 assembly constituencies in the state in the first phase of the programme. Speaking to TOI, Ponnam Prabhakar said there was a lot of demand for housing in Greater Hyderabad and the Congress govt was committed to ensuring that every eligible poor family gets an Indiramma house in a phased manner. The minister received over 100 petitions, in addition to grievances and requests submitted orally to him during the face-to-face programme, which was revived after a few months. The programme was stopped midway without any reasons given, but sources in Gandhi Bhavan said it was due to MLC elections and other factors. It has been revived now after TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud spoke to the chief minister and also AICC in charge Meenakshi Natarajan. The AICC in charge also participated briefly in the face-to-face session and interacted with the people about the problems they were facing in getting their grievances addressed by the officials. Applications for jobs, loans for self-employment schemes, resolutions to land encroachments and disputes, new ration cards, inclusion of names on existing cards, allocation of pending allotment of 2-BHK houses, inclusion of names in the free electricity scheme, and other welfare programmes were submitted to the minister. A delegation of the Telangana Udyama Karula Forum told TOI that they urged Ponnam Prabhakar to remind the TPCC president and the CM about the Congress election manifesto, which promised a house site and a monthly pension to those who fought for statehood. They urged Ponnam to speak to the CM and ensure that a committee is constituted to identify all such Udyama Karulu. "It is not only about the monthly honorarium and house site, but mainly about acknowledgement that we fought and achieved statehood. The govt should give us a memento or certificate, which we will display in our houses and offices as a mark of pride and self-respect that we were at the forefront of the statehood agitation," said forum leader Taduri Gagan Kumar.
