A tightrope walk as debt burden weighs
Vijayawada: It has been a tightrope walk for the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led National Democratic Alliance government in Andhra Pradesh, which is completing one year in office on Thursday (today), and its Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. Though the government under the leadership of Naidu initiated a slew of measures to boost economic growth and implemented welfare schemes, it had to work against all odds given the debt burden that weighed on the State.
Naidu, who assumed charge as of AP Chief Minister for the fourth time on June 12, 2024, frequently said he started off with a millstone around his neck. He pointed out that the previous government had pushed the state back by 30 years, burdening it with Rs 10 lakh crore in debts and another Rs 1.2 lakh crore in unpaid bills. 'The annual interest alone stands at Rs 40,000 crore,' he remarked when the NDA government assumed office.
Looking back, the Chief Minister said recently: 'Brick by brick, we are rebuilding the devastated state and in just one year, we have shown what good governance looks like by giving priority to both welfare and development.'
Minister for Information and Public Relations K Parthasarathi told Hans India that the one-year period of the NDA government focused on both welfare and development. He said both Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister Nara Lokesh aimed at wealth creation and uplift of the poor, simultaneously implementing welfare schemes. He said the coalition government had laid a solid foundation for the benefit of future generations.
To begin with, the NDA government enhanced the old age pension to Rs 4,000 per month. Apart from that, it has been distributing pension amounts of Rs 6,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000 to various categories of people including physically challenged. The state government is spending a whopping Rs 33,000 crore a year on pensions to 64 lakh people. No other state government pays such high pension amounts in the country.
In addition, under Deepam 2, the NDA government is giving three free LPG cylinders per year to women.
Besides, the state government revived 73 central schemes, though the previous government had diverted central funds, resulting in AP being blacklisted.
The NDA government is now planning to provide free solar rooftops to 20 lakh SC/ST houses under PM Surya Ghar Yojana. Upon taking office, the NDA govt repealed the Land Titling Act that had removed protection for people's lands and introduced a new Anti-Land Grabbing Act.
With the Centre's support, the state government put the much-awaited Polavaram Project back on track. The project will now be completed by December 2027.

Yadagirigutta board eludes as two mantris flex their muscles
Hyderabad: Group politics within the ruling Congress party in Nalgonda district have reportedly delayed the constitution of the Yadagirigutta Temple Development (YTD) Trust Board, intended to be modelled on the lines of the renowned Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in Tirupati. Ministers such as N Uttam Kumar Reddy and the Komatireddy brothers are understood to be actively lobbying to secure positions for their nominees on the Trust Board. The State government had made a clear decision to establish YTD, drawing inspiration from the TTD. A senior official confirmed that the government intends to constitute trust boards for temples with an annual revenue exceeding Rs 100 crore. As the Yadagirigutta Temple falls into this category, a trust board is slated for formation. To facilitate this, the government amended The Telangana Charitable and Hindu Religious Institutions and Endowments Amendment Act 2025 in March of this year. However, sources indicate that the initiative has stalled due to internal group politics within Nalgonda district. It is understood that information was already conveyed to public representatives in the district, but the response has been negative, with officials being asked to postpone the matter for a few days. Several MLAs from the district are reportedly eyeing positions on the board, given Yadagirigutta's annual income of Rs 224 crore. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy recently instructed officials to swiftly establish the board, mirroring the TTD structure, with the aim of enhancing the management and development of the significant pilgrimage site. While the TTD Board comprises 29 members, the proposed YTD will have 18 members. This includes a Chairman, nine other members, one member from the State Legislative Assembly or Council, one each from the Scheduled Castes (SC), Backward Classes (BC), and Women categories, and one member from the founder trustee family. Four ex officio members, including the Principal Secretary Revenue, the Commissioner of Endowments, and the Executive Officer of Yadagirigutta temple, will also sit on the board. The Board's tenure will be for two years, with members receiving no salary but entitled to Travelling Allowance and Dearness Allowance. Officials stated that the government would issue a formal notification for the trust board's formation once they receive a go ahead from higher authorities.

The time period given by the analyst is a year when Tata Communications price can reach the defined target. Tata Communications, incorporated in 1986, is a Mid Cap company with a market cap of Rs 48796.28 crore, operating in the telecom sector. Tata Communications' key products/revenue segments include Telecommunication Services for the year ending 31-Mar-2024. Financials For the quarter ended 31-03-2025, the company has reported a Consolidated Total Income of Rs 6059.15 crore, up 3.99% from last quarter Total Income of Rs 5826.80 crore and up 5.40% from last year same quarter Total Income of Rs 5748.70 crore. The company has reported net profit after tax of Rs 1017.19 crore in the latest quarter. The company's top management includes Ramnath, Mr.A S Lakshminarayanan, Verma, Mr.N Ganapathy Subramaniam, Sinha, Natarajan. Company has S R Batliboi & Associates LLP as its auditors. As on 31-03-2025, the company has a total of 28 crore shares outstanding. Investment Rationale JM Financial maintains FY26-FY28 revenue/EBITDA estimates as they were already conservatively assuming data revenue of ~Rs 273bn in FY28; hence the target price of Rs 2,000 remains unchanged. The brokerage is building in a robust ~24% data segment EBITDA CAGR over FY25-28E driven by a) strong growth in digital portfolio, positioned strongly across key megatrends like cloud, AI, IoT etc.; b) overall EBITDA margin improving from ~20% in FY25 to ~23.8% by FY28 (mid-range of management guidance of 23%-25%) as operating leverage and acquisition synergies are likely to be partly offset by adverse revenue mix. Hence, JM Financial reiterates its BUY rating on Tata Communications based on an 11x FY27 EV/EBITDA multiple for the data segment (vs. 5-year historical average of 10.4x). Key risks : a) weak global macro leading to deferment in discretionary tech spends; b) significant delay beyond FY27 to get to positive EBITDA margin in Digital portfolio segment; c) adverse AGR ruling. Promoter/FII Holdings Promoters held 58.86 per cent stake in the company as of 31-Mar-2025, while FIIs owned 16.99 per cent, DIIs 14.5 per cent.
