Kaizer Chiefs: Six matches but ONLY three goals scored
The Soweto giants only signed Flavio da Silva in the attacking department, having parted ways with Ranga Chivaviro. In the six matches they played so far in pre-season, Chiefs only netted three times.
Speaking on Soccer Beat, the retired defender said it should concern the management that Amakhosi have only scored three times so far in pre-season.
'They need goals; if you don't score goals, you don't win soccer games. Listen, they've played six games, if I'm not mistaken and they have only scored three goals.
Masilela said it should worry Kaizer Chiefs given the fact that they failed to score against a side like Asante Kotoko.
'If you struggle to score against them, then it's a worry going into the league, you're going to face stronger opposition, more organised and they can hurt you.'
To be honest, they don't look ready, especially looking at their final game. I'm also going to mention Lilepo, how he came last season and how everyone was talking about him. Since pre-season, he hasn't threatened; he has dropped a bit. It tells you that they need to work very hard in attack,' Masilela said.
When asked if Chiefs should sign former Orlando Pirates star Zakhele Lepasa, he felt the lanky striker might not be fit enough.
'My worry with Lepasa is that he hasn't played football in a while and we don't know how long it will take for him to get back into the groove,' he said.
'He is available for free if they can get a deal done. We are not seeing much of Ashley (Du Preez), or (Tashreeq) Morris, so we need three or four upfront,' he said.
The former Bafana Bafana left-back encouraged Kaizer Chiefs to sign Dzenan Zajmovic.
He has good touches, has football brains and he can link up play, drop and play in spaces. That's what i like, he is more involved, he is not just a guy waiting to score goals,' he added.

Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Ighodaro, Phiri, Zajmovic, new striker
Kaizer Chiefs have signed six players so far this transfer window but the club have indicated that more signings would be made before the window closes. The team will play their first official match of the season against Stellenbosch on Sunday at the Cape Town Stadium. Nasreddine Nabi will hope to get his side to a winning start after a disappointing 2024/25 campaign. Amakhosi are linked with 24-year-old striker Etiosa Ighodaro, who is under contract with rivals Mamelodi Sundowns. 'That player [Ighodaro] belongs to another team with administrative issues, but he or another striker that we listed on our transfer list will be welcomed,' Nabi said when questioned by FARPost . 'For now, we will wait to hear from our administration if he or another striker will join. I saw the player you are asking about last season was playing for AmaZulu, and I believe he's a good player, but he's a player that doesn't belong to our club, and we can't say much about it.' Another player Kaizer Chiefs can sign is former Bafana Bafana midfielder Lebogang Phiri. He recently confirmed to Sunday World that he and his camp held talks with Amakhosi. 'Yes, Kaizer Chiefs did contact me and my representatives. We had small talks with Amakhosi, but I think since they were going to prepare for their pre-season in the Netherlands, the talks stalled a bit,' Phiri told Sunday World. 'But hopefully in the upcoming days or weeks, our talks will resume, and we will come up with something. 'Should something work out, I will be here, but if not, I will go elsewhere and keep pushing.' Ex-TS Galaxy star Dzenan Zajmovic set to record straight on rumours linking him to Chiefs. 'Two clubs made contact, but I was not happy with the proposals about a month ago,' Zajmovic told 'It was not even one of the big three clubs in South Africa. Okay with regards to Kaizer Chiefs, they never contacted me. I have seen people writing a lot of nonsense that I'm negotiating with them but nothing like that has happened. 'All the things on the internet about me and Chiefs are not true because they have never contacted me. What I know is that I have shown myself in a good way but maybe it is not good enough for some clubs,' he said. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. Kaizer Chiefs legend wants Sundowns right-back at Naturena
Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Patrick Mabedi has urged Amakhosi to sign Khuliso Mudau from Mamelodi Sundowns. The lanky defender has not penned a new deal with Masandawana, which could open a door for other PSL clubs. Mudau is highly regarded as one of the best right-backs in Africa, having played in the CAF Champions League final and Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals. Mabedi feels Kaizer Chiefs would benefit if they could sign the Bafana Bafana star. The former Malawi international coached Mudau when he coached at Black Leopards seven years ago. 'He is a very good player. If Chiefs sign him they could have found a missing link in not only their defence but the whole team. You know when I coached him at Black Leopards we used to use him either as a right back, right winger or even a central midfielder. That's how good he is. So, this could be the biggest move for Chiefs in recent times. Personally, I would encourage them to go for him,' Mabedi told Soccer Laduma . The Amakhosi legend says Mudau is a player who could help Chiefs build from the back as he is good playing with the ball at his feet. 'You know he comes from Sundowns who like playing the ball around. He is good in that and Chiefs need such a player who can help them build from the back and link up with their attackers. This could really be a good move for Chiefs (if they attempt to sign him),' the former Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach stated. Mudau has attracted offers from North Africa so a move to Chiefs is very unlikely at this stage, given the player is in his prime.
