Anna Faris returns to Scary Movie franchise
The 48-year-old actress and Regina Hall are returning as Cindy and Brenda to star in the upcoming movie, and the Hollywood duo are already looking forward to the challenge.
In a statement given to Deadline, they said: "We can't wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we'd literally die for (in Brenda's case, again)."
The reboot - which is scheduled for release in June 2026 - sees the Wayans brothers reunite for the first time in 18 years to write an original script for the long-running film franchise.
The Wayans brothers are writing and producing the upcoming film alongside Rick Alvarez, while Jonathan Glickman, Alexandra Lowey and Thomas Zadra are set to serve as executive producers.
The Scary Movie franchise launched in 2000, and has been a huge commercial success, with the original film becoming one of the highest-grossing R-rated horror movies of all time.
Anna played the part of Cindy in the Scary Movie films between 2000 and 2006. The original film marked her first starring credit in a big-budget movie, having previously appeared in small and supporting parts in low-budget films.
The Hollywood star previously joked that she'd only return to the franchise if she was offered a handsome fee.
Asked what it would take for her to sign on for another Scary Movie project, Anna told People: "Well, money!"
Anna revealed at the time that she was open to reprising the role of Cindy - but only if Regina committed to the project, too.
The actress shared: "I would love to work with Regina again. I just love her so much. We would make each other giggle all day long. Regina Hall would be my answer. And money. But mostly all Regina!"
Anna actually considers the franchise to be a turning point in her career.
The actress - whose film credits also include Lost in Translation and My Super Ex-Girlfriend - likened starring in the movies to attending a "bootcamp".
She said: "I love that franchise. It was like my bootcamp, my beginnings.
"If there is a high school comparison for my growth experience, those four movies played an important role in my life in terms of teaching me how to use props, teaching me how to fall, how to get hit in the head — how to hold Chiclets in my mouth and then spit them out with blood at a convenient time for the camera."

Michelle Yeoh has shared the secret to her happy marriage after a 19-year engagement. The Everything Everywhere All At Once star met former Ferrari CEO Jean Todt in Shanghai in 2004 and they got engaged a month later, but they didn't tie the knot until 2023 and Michelle has now revealed the secret to their long and happy relationship is treating every day like a "celebration". She told PEOPLE: "We've been together for 21 years, and we've been married for two ... What we say is: 'Every day should be a celebration.' Why do we wait for a special day?" Michelle, 63, added of her partner: "I am so blessed because he's so supportive of what I do. I love my work. This is my passion. "He never turns around and says you spend a lot of time away from me, which I have sometimes, but he's very understanding." Gal Gadot reveals controversial reason why Disney's ‘Snow White' flopped at box office
Gal Gadot revealed she believes the 'pressure' placed on celebrities to speak against Israel played a role in her Disney film, Snow White, tanking at the box office. The live action remake, which cost up to $US270 million to produce, hit cinemas in March, and managed to slowly gross just $US205.7 million over its run. 'I was sure this movie was going to be a huge hit. And then it happened,' she said, referencing the October 7 attacks, in a clip from her interview on Israeli TV program, The A Talks. The video, which you can watch in the player above, showed Gadot speaking to a room of young people where she explained her stance on the controversial film. 'And what followed, as you know what happened a lot in various industries including Hollywood, there's pressure on celebrities to speak against Israel,' she continued. 'I can always explain and try to give context about what's happening here and I always do that. But, in the end, people make their own decisions. 'I was disappointed the movie was so affected and it didn't succeed at the box office,' she closed, shrugging it off as she added, 'That's how it goes. You win some, you lose some.' A rep for Gadot did not immediately respond to Page Six's request for further comment. As many may recall, the film's two main stars were also embroiled in a big controversy around the time of the Disney movie's release. Insiders noted that Gadot, 40, and Rachel Zegler clashed while making the movie due to them having 'nothing in common.' A source also told People that their 'huge age gap' and 'very different political views' only added to the tension on set. Zegler, 24, has been an outspoken supporter of Palestine throughout the Israel-Hamas war. Meanwhile, Gadot, who was born in Israel and served in the Israeli army, has been a proud supporter of her home country amid its ongoing war. The children's film experienced a sleepy opening weekend in March as it failed to clear its goal of $US100 million at the box office. The slow tanking then pushed execs at Disney to hit pause on its live-action remake of Tangled.
