Perak KPDN seizes RM132k in diesel and assets in Kampung Kepayang raid

IPOH: The Perak branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) seized 1,220 litres of subsidised diesel and assets worth RM132,446.80 in a raid on a Kampung Kepayang workshop. The operation, conducted at 6.10 pm yesterday, led to the arrest of a 21-year-old local man suspected of storing controlled items without permits. Datuk Kamalludin Ismail, the state director, revealed that the syndicate bought diesel at RM1.80 per litre from dishonest lorry drivers before selling it illegally at RM2.40 per litre. Authorities also confiscated two lorries, an Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) tank, and a pump during the raid. The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 for unauthorised possession of controlled goods. Kamalludin warned that KPDN would take firm action against subsidy leakage through its Kita Gempur initiative. The public can report misuse of subsidised goods via WhatsApp (019-848 8000), e-aduan@ or the Ez ADU KPDN app. - Bernama

Another Singapore vehicle caught pumping RON95 in Johor

DAYS after a Singapore-registered car was spotted refuelling with subsidised RON95 petrol in Iskandar Puteri, another similar case has emerged, this time along the Senai-Desaru Expressway. Photos of the vehicle went viral on Friday (Aug 8), prompting Johor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo to confirm an investigation is underway. She criticised the lack of vigilance, noting the pump was 'right in front of the payment counter'. Authorities will review CCTV footage and vow to make no compromise on negligence. The Johor branch of the KPDN is still investigating another viral case involving a Singapore-registered luxury vehicle owner seen filling subsidised RON95 petrol into a plastic container at a station in Iskandar Puteri. Enforcement officers inspected the site, reviewed CCTV footage, obtained the purchase receipt, and met the station owner, who was issued a stern warning. A case was opened under the Control of Supplies Act 1961, which carries heavy fines and possible jail terms for offenders, with higher penalties for repeat offences. KPDN urged the public to report any misuse of controlled goods and subsidies. — Aug 9, 2025

Dishonest lorry drivers caught stealing diesel, selling to industrial buyers

IPOH: The Perak Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry has uncovered diesel misappropriation activities involving lorry drivers who stole diesel belonging to their companies and sold it to syndicates at lower prices. Its director, Datuk Kamalludin Ismail, said the activity was uncovered during Op Tiris 2025, which was carried out at 6.10pm yesterday at a workshop in Kampung Kepayang following a week of intelligence gathering and surveillance. Kamalludin said action was taken by seizing 1,220 litres of diesel, two lorries, and a bulk storage tank (IBC) along with a pump. The seizure is estimated to be worth over RM132,000. He added that the syndicate's modus operandi involved obtaining diesel at a cheap price of about RM1.80 per litre from dishonest lorry drivers. "These dishonest lorry drivers stole diesel owned by their employers and sold it to industrial buyers on the black market at about RM2.40 per litre," he said in a statement today. He added that during the inspection, 1,220 litres of diesel were found in IBC tanks mounted on the two lorries. A 21-year-old man who claimed to be the lorry driver failed to present any letter of authorisation, licence, or permit to store controlled goods when requested by the inspection team. "We wish to remind and emphasise that there will be no compromise with any party found involved in the misappropriation or syndication of controlled goods, and stricter actions, including prosecution in court, will be taken," he said. The case is being investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961, which carries a fine of up to RM1 million, three years' jail, or both for individuals, and up to RM2 million in fines for companies.
