Where LSU football's top 2027 recruiting target ranks in Rivals' latest rankings
The 2027 five-star edge checked in at No. 3 overall on the initial release. Rivals' Industry Rankings places him at No. 2 among defensive ends, trailing Ladamion Guyton.
Forstall, who hails from New Orleans, transferred to IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL, ahead of his junior season. The move makes him the state's top recruit. He played his first two seasons of high school football at Jesuit High School.
The six-foot-three, 235-pounder already boasts plenty of Power Four offers. USC and LSU are currently the front-runners as he has taken unofficial visits to both. Under head coach Brian Kelly, the Tigers made a living by keeping the best homegrown talent in the state with its 2026 class.
"Electric pass rusher who is already showing signs of dominance as a high school underclassman," wrote Rivals' Charles Power.
Forstall separated himself from other prospects early on in his recruiting journey. Despite transferring to IMG, Forstall remains a Louisiana prospect. Losing him would be a big loss for Kelly and the staff.

BATON ROUGE — What does it mean for LSU football's defense to have a healthy Harold Perkins Jr. and Whit Weeks back in the fold? The linebacker duo took the field for the Tigers' first preseason practice Wednesday morning, the first time the two have practiced alongside one another in nearly a year. "Presence," LSU coach Brian Kelly said following LSU's practice about having Weeks and Perkins back. "We all appreciate that it's Day 1 and we're trying to get our feet in the ground and play football, but presence is impactful. In September, Perkins went down against UCLA in LSU's fourth game last season with an ACL tear and missed the remainder of the 2024 campaign. His injury forced Weeks into more of a prominent role within the Tigers' defense and he flourished, leading the team in tackles and clearing the next defender by nearly 40 stops. In the Texas Bowl in December, Weeks suffered a dislocated ankle, which needed surgery to repair. Both Perkins and Weeks missed spring practice and some more time this offseason going through rehab, but they have arrived at preseason practice fully healthy. The tandem were both named to the Dick Butkus Award preseason watch list Wednesday, an award that goes to college football's top linebacker. "When somebody is not around in a room, you can kind of feel the temperature change a little bit. The temperature is a little bit different when those two guys are in the room," Kelly said. "It's hard to replace great players but it's even harder to replace great leaders and those guys lead by example and make a huge difference." Why Garrett Nussmeier, Whit Weeks sat out, were limited during LSU football practice
BATON ROUGE — LSU football has reached the point in preseason practice where bumps and bruises are going to flare up. But there's also some load management that's needed. Junior linebacker Whit Weeks did not participate in the Tigers' 14th practice Friday morning. Senior quarterback Garrett Nussmeier was limited in drills and overall work, as well. Media members were able to view LSU's entire session and Weeks spent a large portion of practice off to the side on the exercise bike. LSU football coach Brian Kelly said that players like Weeks and Nussmeier were on "off days" as the staff is managing their workload this preseason. LSU FOOTBALL PRACTICE OVERREACTIONS "Whit Weeks, we're not going to have him practice five days in a row until we get into game week," LSU head football coach Brian Kelly said. "He'll be back out there tomorrow, he'll scrimmage tomorrow. "With Nuss, it's more about managing his throws. He made a number of throws where we give him some time to back off. He'll be back out tomorrow, full go, scrimmaging. Again, it's just maintenance on some of these guys." Nussmeier re-aggravated a pre-existing condition with patellar tendonitis in his left knee last week from a procedure he had done back in 2023. Weeks is coming off a dislocated ankle injury in the Texas Bowl last December. He missed all of spring drills while and going through rehab and was fully cleared by the start of the Tigers' summer conditioning program at the beginning of June. Friday was Weeks' first missed practice of the fall. Early in the preseason, he was limited the first few days as the staff was just being cautious with him.
