Battlefield 6 already filled with cheaters as beta beats Call Of Duty records
Given how much studio manpower EA has thrown behind it, a lot is riding on the success of Battlefield 6, but early signs suggest their gamble might just pay off.
Thousands of people were already queuing up for the open beta before it launched in early access yesterday, and now, before the beta is even open to everyone, it's already making waves across Steam and Twitch.
Over the past 24 hours, Battlefield 6's open beta has reached a player peak of 334,549. At the time of writing, this makes it the fourth most-played title on Steam, behind only Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and PUBG: Battlegrounds.
The numbers are particuarly impressive when compared to past Battlefield games. The beta has already surpassed the highest player peak of previous entry Battlefield 2042 (107,376) and most-played title Battlefield 5 (116,104).
It hasn't topped Call Of Duty's player numbers on the platform, which has a peak of 491,670 across Warzone and Black Ops 6, but there's a chance Battlefield 6 could surpass this figure when the beta is released to everyone from Saturday, August 9. At the moment it's only available to those in early access.
Over on Twitch, the picture is even more positive. Battlefield 6 has already racked up a peak viewership of 868,520, which is higher than every Call Of Duty title outside of Warzone. The latter has a record high of 1,613,626 viewers (via TwitchTracker) and, again, Battlefield 6 could surpass those numbers over the weekend.

Notably, the peak viewership for Battlefield 6 is already higher than Rainbow Six Siege (583,166), Overwatch 2 (634,296), and PUBG: Battlegrounds (597,663). More Trending
There are some downsides to popularity though, as made evident by the presence of cheaters already in the beta. EA is launching Battlefield 6 with its newly evolved and rebranded proprietary anti-cheat system, Javelin. But it seems like players have already found a way around its kernel-level security systems.
Various clips have already circulated online showing players with the ability to see enemy positions on the map. 'This footage proves CHEATS are FULLY FUNCTIONAL on Day 1 of the early access beta,' YouTuber ItsHapa posted on X.
While the presence of cheaters in the beta gives the developers time to iron out these kinks for when the game launches, it's nevertheless not the best start for a new anti-cheat system in the company's biggest competitive shooter.
Battlefield 6 launches on October 10, 2025 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. A battle royale spin-off is also rumoured to be in the works.

Nintendo rips off Playdate console in patent for new Switch 2 accessory
Nintendo's latest console might be getting several bizarre accessories, as new Switch 2 Joy-Con patents emerge. The Joy-Cons on the original Switch received several accessories over the years but, other than the steering wheel, most of them were sensible additions like charging grips and wrist straps. You might've expected more, considering how versatile the controllers are, and the same could be said for the Switch 2's improved Joy-Con 2, which possess all the same features but add mouse controls and magnetic connections. While Nintendo has likely experimented with various obscure accessories over the years, we now have evidence of at least two up for consideration – and one of them will look familiar to anyone who has ever clamped eyes on a Playdate. As spotted by Nintendo Patents Watch on Bluesky, Nintendo filed a patent for an attachable crank for the Joy-Con 2 in February last year. The patent, which was made public on August 7, 2025, shows a rotary disc which is tracked by the mouse sensor. It's connected to the Joy-Con 2 via the controller's magnets, much like the mouse wrist strap bundled with the Nintendo Switch 2. The Playdate portable console has a very similar looking crank and various games on the console use it as a controller. It's unclear though, if this does materialise as a product, if it will be used for a similarly wide range of uses on the Switch 2 – or if it will simply become a fishing novelty in the next Animal Crossing. Another patent shows some kind of clickable wheel, where the rotation is tracked by the mouse sensor via a sequence of gears. The wheel itself clicks into the SL button, while a second button is hooked up to the SR button. More Trending The wheel would presumably allow for more precise control when it comes to scrolling with the mouse, but it could also function like a camera where you click in to take photos. The existence of these patents doesn't necessarily mean they will become mass market products, but they certainly feel very Nintendo. As a reminder, this is the same company who released a toy range for the Switch made entirely from cardboard. Beyond potential Joy-Con attachments, Nintendo's focus right now is probably on nailing down release dates for its first party line-up. After two Nintendo Direct presentations over recent weeks, we still don't have dates for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Kirby Air Riders, or Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment. Battlefield 6 Twitch Drops are live and there are four free rewards up for grabs. EA is providing gamers with a host of opportunities to bag free rewards that can be transferred to Battlefield 6 when it hits the shelves this October. Battlefield 6 is slated for an October release, but players are being given the chance to test it out before its official launch during the open beta weekends in August. The early access beta kicked off on Thursday, August 7, and while gaining entry was a fleeting opportunity, EA is offering gamers another shot at access via a Twitch Drops campaign. In terms of rewards, EA has a range of freebies up for grabs that can be unlocked in several ways. GTA 6 might be cheaper than expected as Take-Two boss talks 'fair price'
Take-Two Interactive's CEO has addressed questions about the price of GTA 6, stating they want to offer 'more value than what we charge'. With the release date officially announced, one of the other big questions about GTA 6 is how much the massive open world blockbuster will cost. Several analysts have claimed it will cost around £100, a dramatic increase from the £70 most people pay today for the likes of Call Of Duty and EA Sports FC. Although we've already seen signs this average price could soon increase, led by the £75 price for the physical version of Mario Kart World. While Rockstar is yet to announce the price tag for GTA 6, Take-Two Interactive CEO and chairman Strauss Zelnick has discussed the company's approach to pricing – emphasising how it wants to deliver 'more value than what we charge'. When asked by Variety about the sequel's price, Zelnick said: 'So now that announcement will come from Rockstar in due time. Our goal always is to deliver more value than what we charge, so we've had variable pricing at the company forever. 'As you know, the approach of the industry is to launch at a premium price, sometimes with special editions, and over time, typically to reduce the price to enhance the overall size of the market. We do the very same thing. I think, probably more than most, we're highly focused on making sure that the experience is great, not just because the game itself is great, but also because consumers have paid a fair price for it.' While it's a vague answer, the mention of a 'fair price' certainly doesn't scream a potential £100 price point – even though many fans would surely pay that. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. Last month, leaker Millie A claimed the base version of GTA 6 would match the industry's current standard price of £69.99, but it will have several more expensive special editions. More Trending According to the leaker, along with the standard £69.99 version, there will be a £89.99 deluxe edition with early access to GTA Online, and a premium version priced at £109.99 with even earlier access to GTA Online. This sounds plausible, especially as GTA Online has been Rockstar's biggest money spinner for years, so it's not necessarily in Take-Two's favour to make the cost of entry for the game too expensive. Following its latest financial results, Take-Two is not short of money. In the first fiscal quarter of 2026, the company saw net bookings increase by 16% to $1.42 billion (£1.05 billion). This was described as 'significantly above the guidance range' for the period, which was $1.25 billion to $1.3 billion (£967,000). In light of these figures, Take-Two has raised its projections for Q2 to between $6.05 billion to $6.15 billion (£4.5 billion). Over the next quarter, the company is set to release Mafia: The Old Country, NBA 2K26, and Borderlands 4. Email gamecentral@ leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter.
