22 Dubai Bus Stations Undergo Major Renovations

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority has completed a wide-ranging redesign of 22 public bus facilities across the emirate, part of an ongoing infrastructure update to make public transport more efficient and easier to use. Six major depots and 16 stations - split between Deira and Bur Dubai - received structural upgrades, new waiting areas, and additional amenities like prayer rooms and cycle parking.
The redesigned stations now support 110 routes, accommodating up to 710 buses during peak times. Meanwhile, the six revamped depots - from Jebel Ali to Al Qusais - now feature upgraded workshops, enhanced lighting and newly structured parking to better handle daily operations. The enhancements also aim to smooth pedestrian and bicycle access, improve system flow and support multi-modal connections across the city.
This latest batch of upgrades follows earlier overhauls at major stops like Al Ghubaiba, Oud Metha and Terminal 3. The RTA also signed a contract to introduce 637 new buses through 2026, including 40 zero-emission electric models manufactured by Zhongtong and tailored for Gulf climates. Dubai's commitment to a low-emission fleet using Euro 6 standards remains a regional first.

RTA Awards AED 633 Million Contract to Redesign Al Mustaqbal Street
The revamped road will serve half a million daily users, adding tunnels, bridges and public spaces, while cutting commute times by more than 50% in one of the city's busiest zones. Jul 14, 2025 Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority has awarded a AED 633 million (USD 172 million) contract to upgrade Al Mustaqbal Street, a vital corridor linking Zabeel Palace Street and Financial Centre Street, as part of its wider Trade Centre Roundabout masterplan. The project includes three new tunnels designed to handle up to 9,000 vehicles per hour, a 450 m two-lane bridge connecting the World Trade Centre area, and the widening of Al Mustaqbal Street from three to four lanes each way over 3.5 km. Once completed, the renovations will increase traffic capacity from 6,600 to 8,800 vehicles per hour and reduce average travel times from about 13 minutes to six minutes. It also introduces pedestrian-friendly improvements, such as upgraded walkways, dedicated cycling lanes, enhanced lighting, and expanded public spaces. The scheme is part of the broader effort to improve access around the Dubai World Trade Centre, Downtown Dubai, Zabeel, and Business Bay - regions that host hundreds of thousands of commuters and visitors. Around 500,000 people are expected to benefit directly from smoother, faster routes and safer multimodal transport options.
