Hollyoaks reveals reason why Lucas collapsed as diagnosis is issued

Metro29-04-2025

Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Tuesday's (April 29) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm.
Lucas Hay (Oscar Curtis) was rushed to hospital after a devastating collapse, with subsequent scenes confirming the reason why.
The popular character was found unconscious at dad Ste's (Kieron Richardson) flat at Rowing Club Apartments by Rex Gallagher (Jonny Labey) earlier this week.
Rex reckoned Grace Black (Tamara Wall), who was found in the flat at the time of the collapse, was to blame but the gangster assured her brother of her innocence as they raced against time to get Lucas to hospital.
Over at The Hutch, Ste was enjoying his friends' company amid John Paul McQueen's (James Sutton) and Jez Blake's (Jeremy Sheffield) engagement party when a phone call from Rex left him chilled to the bone.
Fearing his son had taken drugs again, Ste swooped into action, determined to make it to the hospital to be with him, with longtime pal and former partner-in-crime Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) offering to drive him.

Sienna, however, had unknowingly been spiked by Martha (Sherrie Hewson) – and this led to complications, with a horror car crash ensuing.
Despite this, Ste still made it to the hospital, where Rex was all set to confess to his role in the exploitation operation, believing that Lucas' hospitalisation was ordered by boss DI Banks (Drew Cain).
Before he could so do, however, Lucas woke up and – in emotional scenes – he told Ste that Misbah Maalik (Harvey Virdi) had already spoken to him about what led to his collapse.
They've found something on his brain, and doctors believe that it's a tumour.
Will Lucas be okay? Subsequent scenes will see Ste urging his son to get the surgery he needs in order to get better.
Star Oscar Curtis teased the scenes to come last month, telling Metro: 'There is going to be a lot [to come], I'll say that! More Trending
'And also, it's going to get scary… and intense and emotional – but not exactly in a break-up sense.
'I think it's going to get emotional in a 'life and death situation' sense.'

The E4 favourite, who featured in the Australian version of the matchmaking series, told of her "frustration" at more traditional methods which failed to have an impact on her wellbeing. 6 A MAFS star has revealed she's turned to fat jabs in desperate bid to lose weight Credit: Instagram / itswildbykatie 6 It came after Katie Johnston had been body-shamed by groom Tim Gromie on the E$ show Credit: Nine 6 Restaurant CEO Katie told how she had been hit with 'shame' due to her weight loss method Credit: Instagram / itswildbykatie The auburn-haired star, 37, found fame on Married At First Sight's most recent series, where fans were quick to call out her groom Tim Gromie's cruel conduct. MAFS fans watched in horror as school teacher Tim brutally rejected Katie Johnston just minutes after they said I Do - as he insisted she was nothing like what he "would have wanted". Having pulled a producer to the side, he exclaimed: "What the f***?" He continued: "Totally not what I wanted. "It's not good. I normally go just short, blonde. petite. "Katie is like nothing that I would normally go for." After the body-shaming on screen, restaurant CEO Katie told how she was using "scientific help" for her weight loss - because "that's what it's there for." In a piece to camera filmed outside, she told fans: "I have initially started my GLP1 journey with quite a bit of shame wrapped around it. "Because I was frustrated that I couldn't do it myself and I just didn't have the capacity to figure it out on my own. MAFS' Katie breaks down in tears in upsetiting scenes with Tim "And I utilised scientific help and that's what it's there for. "So it's anything, any meds that you use to help you control parts of yourself like for example anti anxieties, I've used anti anxieties for really bad times in my life that I couldn't cope." GLP1 is a natural hormone that helps regulate blood sugar and appetite. It also plays a role in slowing down digestion, and is often a treatment used to help Type 2 Diabetes. The star, whose show groom rudely confessed he wanted to "run away" during the experiment ultimately ended up quitting the series. Mafs couples that have stood the test of time Loved-up Tayah Victoria and Adam Aveling of series six fame had the first Mafs baby. The pair couldn't keep their hands off each other on the programme and quickly found their feet in the outside world, moving into Adam's Doncaster home. Just 18 months after meeting, the couple welcomed their daughter Beau. Season five couple Michelle Walder and Owen Jenkins also managed to make their marriage work away from the cameras and had their first child in December. Teacher Michelle, 29, has no regrets about taking part in the experiment. She told us: 'I just feel very lucky and thankful that it has worked out - and excited for everything to come.' Michelle and Owen were both sick of dating apps when they applied in 2019. Owen recalled: 'I had been out for some drinks with a friend after work. "While he was out for a cigarette I was scrolling on Instagram waiting for him to come back in. 'The MAFS advert was the last thing I saw, and I joked, 'Wouldn't it be funny if I signed up?' 'A few beers later when I was back at home I sent in the application, and the rest is history.' Another couple to make Mafs UK history is Zoe Clifton and Jenna Robinson. Despite a slight rocky start, where they clashed over Jenna's vegan lifestyle, the show's first same sex pairing are still going strong. They even have a successful podcast together called Life With a Pod. Jenna shed light on being involved in the show earlier this year when she told us: "We're not legally married, and I never felt like we were. I definitely feel the process makes you take the relationship a lot more seriously and having the help of the experts… if you can survive that process it sets a firm foundation for a long-lasting relationship." Yet Queensland native Katie has gained a legion of loyal fans since appearing on-air, who appreciate her cheery character and bubbly, positive personality. Though showing how the backlash towards fat jabs had hit a nerve, she said in her long clip: "OK I'm going to go on a little bit of a rant because I'm frustrated and that's what I do when I'm frustrated. "I'm over people being shamed for using GLP1 or any other method of weight loss. "Anything that people do is their choice and it's up to them and only you know your path and what got you into the position you are and the help that you need. "Only you know that. Sorry about my b****y state "But just be kind to yourself. She rounded off with the words: "So please don't let the narrative out there that it's so easy to lose weight and just eat well, just exercise well. "Just be more motivated, have more discipline - go away! Leave us alone. We're figuring it out. "We are giving ourselves breathing space to be able to implement new habits and learn new things and transition our life to a healthier life. "So help us on our journey and cheer us on instead of giving us a hard time, thank you." She captioned the video: "Dear THAT person, go away, we are all on our own path, you do you, " and one fan replied: "You are so right Katie and I love you either way and you will always be my fave girl x" A second put: "Love this message," as a third posted: "Screw them loves you are amazing and you are rocking it." One then added: "You just keep being You XOXO." Another surmised: "Just keep being you and good luck in your next wellbeing journey everyone needs little help now and again be kind to yourself and ignore the negativity of people xx" SHOW STORY Since her show stint which aired in the UK earlier this year, it emerged her groom Tim had been messaging another bride during their honeymoon. During the scenes, fans were convinced the tattooed star who had an extreme reluctance to talk about his own marriage was a producer "plant." Tim told their co-stars at the Dinner Party he felt he was making the most effort in their relationship, having struggled to find a connection with her - despite scenes showing the exact opposite playing out on screen. It left Katie's fellow bride Jamie furious as she defended Katie and branded Tim a 'gaslighter'. 6 She has opted for the GLP1 jab Credit: Instagram / itswildbykatie 6 The Queensland native suffered a torrid time on the E4 show Credit: Channel 9

Liam Neeson remembers ‘brilliant' Barbara Taylor Bradford in memorial message

The 73-year-old reflected on his role in TV drama A Woman Of Substance, adapted from one of the author's most well-known books, in the note that was read out on his behalf. Taylor Bradford died at the age of 91 on November 24 last year following a short illness, 'and was surrounded by loved ones to the very end', a spokeswoman said at the time. Author Barbara Taylor Bradford poses for pictures after she received her honour from Queen Elizabeth II (Steve Parsons/PA) Actors, authors and other notable figures attended the service at St Bride's Church in Fleet Street, London, on Thursday. Neeson said in his message: 'In 1984, I had the great honour of playing Blackie O'Neill in the television adaptation of Barbara Taylor Bradford's A Woman Of Substance, and again in its sequel, Hold The Dream. 'It was a landmark moment — the first television drama series to reach more than 13.8 million viewers on Britain's Channel 4 — and something we were all incredibly proud of. 'But more than the numbers, it was Barbara's vision, her storytelling, and her fierce dedication to her characters that made the work so special. 'She was a force — elegant, brilliant and unstoppable — and I feel deeply privileged to have been part of bringing her words to life.' Liam Neeson starred in an adaptation of A Woman With Substance (Ian West/PA) Human rights lawyer Cherie Blair, wife of former prime minister Sir Tony Blair, was also in attendance and reflected on her friendship with the author in a speech. 'I can hardly believe it's been over 20 years since I first met Barbara in New York,' she said. 'Tony and I were attending an event while he was UK Prime Minister. 'Although I can't recall the specifics of the event, I vividly remember meeting Barbara and, of course, her beloved husband, Bob (Robert Bradford). 'Meeting her was such a thrill — not only because I had read her books but also because she was a favourite author of both my mum and grandma. 'Barbara and I instantly connected as Northern girls who had ventured far from our roots, yet never forgot where we came from. 'At the time of our first meeting, Tony had not read any of Barbara's books, but he was so struck by her intelligence, elegance, and charm that he subsequently watched the TV show and read the book. 'Barbara and I stayed in touch, regularly meeting when I was in New York or when she was in London. 'One memory I treasure is attending the Women of Substance Awards with her at the Dorchester in London in 2009. 'The awards were so typical of Barbara — her unwavering support for other women was truly inspiring. She even offered me invaluable advice when I was establishing my own foundation for women. 'Barbara seemed ageless. Whenever we met, she was always engaged, well-informed, feisty and, of course, impeccably dressed. 'She was the epitome of a woman of substance — wise, fun and endlessly inspiring. We will deeply miss her warmth, wisdom and friendship.' Former prime minister Sir Tony Blair and his wife Cherie Blair (Leon Neal/PA) The service began with the theme music from A Woman Of Substance and included an address from actress Jenny Seagrove, who played a young Emma Harte in the TV mini-series. In April it was announced that Vera actress Brenda Blethyn will lead a new Channel 4 adaptation of A Woman Of Substance, playing protagonist Emma. The book is a rags-to-riches tale set in the 1900s that follows the life of Yorkshire servant Emma who later heads up a business empire. Taylor Bradford was often labelled 'the grand dame of blockbusters', with her books selling more than 91 million copies and having been published in more than 40 languages and in 90 countries. Other TV adaptations of her books included ITV's Act Of Will starring Elizabeth Hurley and Victoria Tennant, and To Be The Best, a sequel to A Woman Of Substance with Lindsay Wagner and Sir Anthony Hopkins.
