MAFS star reveals she's turned to fat jabs in desperate bid to lose weight after being bodyshamed on show and by trolls

The Suna day ago

A MARRIED At First Sight star has revealed she's been subject to "shame" after opting to use fat jabs to lose weight.
The E4 favourite, who featured in the Australian version of the matchmaking series, told of her "frustration" at more traditional methods which failed to have an impact on her wellbeing.

The auburn-haired star, 37, found fame on Married At First Sight 's most recent series, where fans were quick to call out her groom Tim Gromie's cruel conduct.
MAFS fans watched in horror as school teacher Tim brutally rejected Katie Johnston just minutes after they said I Do - as he insisted she was nothing like what he "would have wanted".
Having pulled a producer to the side, he exclaimed: "What the f***?"
He continued: "Totally not what I wanted.
"It's not good. I normally go just short, blonde. petite.
"Katie is like nothing that I would normally go for."
After the body-shaming on screen, restaurant CEO Katie told how she was using "scientific help" for her weight loss - because "that's what it's there for."
In a piece to camera filmed outside, she told fans: "I have initially started my GLP1 journey with quite a bit of shame wrapped around it.
"Because I was frustrated that I couldn't do it myself and I just didn't have the capacity to figure it out on my own.
MAFS' Katie breaks down in tears in upsetiting scenes with Tim
"And I utilised scientific help and that's what it's there for.
"So it's anything, any meds that you use to help you control parts of yourself like for example anti anxieties, I've used anti anxieties for really bad times in my life that I couldn't cope."
GLP1 is a natural hormone that helps regulate blood sugar and appetite.
It also plays a role in slowing down digestion, and is often a treatment used to help Type 2 Diabetes.
The star, whose show groom rudely confessed he wanted to "run away" during the experiment ultimately ended up quitting the series.
Mafs couples that have stood the test of time
Loved-up Tayah Victoria and Adam Aveling of series six fame had the first Mafs baby.
The pair couldn't keep their hands off each other on the programme and quickly found their feet in the outside world, moving into Adam's Doncaster home.
Just 18 months after meeting, the couple welcomed their daughter Beau.
Season five couple Michelle Walder and Owen Jenkins also managed to make their marriage work away from the cameras and had their first child in December.
Teacher Michelle, 29, has no regrets about taking part in the experiment. She told us: 'I just feel very lucky and thankful that it has worked out - and excited for everything to come.'
Michelle and Owen were both sick of dating apps when they applied in 2019.
Owen recalled: 'I had been out for some drinks with a friend after work.
"While he was out for a cigarette I was scrolling on Instagram waiting for him to come back in.
'The MAFS advert was the last thing I saw, and I joked, 'Wouldn't it be funny if I signed up?'
'A few beers later when I was back at home I sent in the application, and the rest is history.'
Another couple to make Mafs UK history is Zoe Clifton and Jenna Robinson.
Despite a slight rocky start, where they clashed over Jenna's vegan lifestyle, the show's first same sex pairing are still going strong.
They even have a successful podcast together called Life With a Pod.
Jenna shed light on being involved in the show earlier this year when she told us: "We're not legally married, and I never felt like we were. I definitely feel the process makes you take the relationship a lot more seriously and having the help of the experts… if you can survive that process it sets a firm foundation for a long-lasting relationship."
Yet Queensland native Katie has gained a legion of loyal fans since appearing on-air, who appreciate her cheery character and bubbly, positive personality.
Though showing how the backlash towards fat jabs had hit a nerve, she said in her long clip: "OK I'm going to go on a little bit of a rant because I'm frustrated and that's what I do when I'm frustrated.
"I'm over people being shamed for using GLP1 or any other method of weight loss.
"Anything that people do is their choice and it's up to them and only you know your path and what got you into the position you are and the help that you need.
"Only you know that. Sorry about my b****y state
"But just be kind to yourself.
She rounded off with the words: "So please don't let the narrative out there that it's so easy to lose weight and just eat well, just exercise well.
"Just be more motivated, have more discipline - go away! Leave us alone. We're figuring it out.
"We are giving ourselves breathing space to be able to implement new habits and learn new things and transition our life to a healthier life.
"So help us on our journey and cheer us on instead of giving us a hard time, thank you."
She captioned the video: "Dear THAT person, go away, we are all on our own path, you do you, " and one fan replied: "You are so right Katie and I love you either way and you will always be my fave girl x"
A second put: "Love this message," as a third posted: "Screw them loves you are amazing and you are rocking it."
One then added: "You just keep being You XOXO."
Another surmised: "Just keep being you and good luck in your next wellbeing journey everyone needs little help now and again be kind to yourself and ignore the negativity of people xx"
SHOW STORY
Since her show stint which aired in the UK earlier this year, it emerged her groom Tim had been messaging another bride during their honeymoon.
During the scenes, fans were convinced the tattooed star who had an extreme reluctance to talk about his own marriage was a producer "plant."
Tim told their co-stars at the Dinner Party he felt he was making the most effort in their relationship, having struggled to find a connection with her - despite scenes showing the exact opposite playing out on screen.
It left Katie's fellow bride Jamie furious as she defended Katie and branded Tim a 'gaslighter'.

Love Island lines up three stunning female bombshells to cause chaos – and they're already in the villa

A TEMPTING trio of new bombshells have strutted into the Love Island villa. Viewers are holding their breath to see if Blu or Shea will step down and relinquish their spot in the villa after last night's savage recoupling twist. 5 5 5 The Sun has revealed that one boy has already left following that moment but kept their ID secret to hold the surprise for fans. But that lad will be gutted to have missed out on the triple whammy of beauties who landed last night. Yasmin Pettet, Malisha Jordan and Emily Morann slow-mo walked into the love nest to shake-up Villa action. Not much is known about Londoner Yasmmin, as she's wiped her social media, bar from a few glamorous snaps shared in recent weeks. Yasmin is seen hanging out in posh restaurants across the capital, mainly around Kensington and Notting Hill. She certainly has the credentials for life in the villa, with a bikini body that will make heads swivel. Pretty Malisha Jordan has just 15 photos on her Instagram - all of them stunning snaps from her travels abroad. She's spent time in Italy, Egypt, Dubai and and Marrakesh. Emily Moran, who lives in Sydney, Australia, has also jetted to Majorca and is set to scramble the boys' heads. A source said: "Emily's originally from Aberdare, the same town as Nicole Samuel from last year's show. "Her ex-boyfriend is tall dark and handsome so she'll have plenty of options when she does make it into the villa. "She's been unlucky in love since moving Down Under and is hoping to find Mr Right with a little help from Maya Jama and the British public." It comes after a devastating twist left Blu and Shea vulnerable. Last night the girls were given the power to decide who they wanted to recouple with. The girls then stood up to make their decision one by one and pick their guy - until only Shea and Blu remained. However, in a MAJOR twist Dejon then received a text which read: "Blue and Shea, you are now single. Between you both you should now decided who should stay and who should go." But both lads said they were determined to stay. Blu confidently said: "I ain't f****** leaving," as Shea echoed: "I ain't either." The episode then ended, and caused fans watching at home to come up with a theory about who will go home. Taking to X, one fan said: "Surely Shea should stay and let Blu go home." While another added: "Please can someone escort Blu off the premises." This one said: "Blu has been in the villa for 4days and did nothing pack your bags sir!" Love Island fans spot clue Islander is pretending to fancy her partner after awkward recoupling

LOVE Island fans say they have spotted a clue that one of the Islanders is pretending to fancy her partner, following last night's awkward recoupling. Ever since they first coupled up on Monday night, fans have been convinced that Meg is faking her feelings for hunky Dejon. 6 6 6 Dejon and Megan were coupled up during the launch show, and have remained together ever since. However, during last night's recoupling, fans were left unconvinced (once again) of the blonde beauty's true feelings for her man. Although Meg still chose to couple up with Dejon, fans thought her speech wasn't genuine. They also think her body language during last night's recoupling was "awkward" and a sure sign she's just not that into him. Taking to social media one fan said: "I want to believe in Meg and Dejon but I fear one man making a move on meg might send the relationship collapsing." While another added: "Meg doesn't like Dejon - simple." This one said: "Meg says the right things but her energy and body language is offff (sic)." "Meg is so fake omg she's just waiting for her bombshell," a fourth added. This isn't the first time that fans have been unconvinced of Meg's feelings for Dejon - in fact it's been happening a lot since they first coupled up. Their first kiss was also slammed by viewers for being "painfully awkward". Love Island fans spot tell tale signs villa beauty hated snog with show hunk On Wednesday, the pair went up to the terrace to discuss their relationship so far. Dejon started the chat, and said: 'I like the way that things are going.' She replied: 'Yeah, same. I feel the exact same.' But the tension was hard to ignore as she adde:, 'I feel like we talk… everyone else's f*****g business.' 6 Trying to take things to the next level, Dejon asked if she still wanted to share a bed with him, to which she said yes. Then came the kiss but before Dejon leaned in, Meg awkwardly asked: 'Oh, you're going to kiss me?' And once the kiss was over, she laughed and said, 'Is that enough?' Fans took to social media to discuss the painfully awkward moment, with one writing beneath some grabs of the scene: ''Oh ur gonna kiss me' & 'was that enough' – she DID NOT want that." Another added: 'That was so false hahaha she doesn't like him. Her face afterwards said it all.' A third agreed: 'SO TRUE she don't like him like that.' 6 MEG'S U-TURN Meanwhile, viewers previously slammed Meg after she made a huge U-turn in bid to stay in the villa. And it came just a day after she seemed "underwhelmed" when she chose Dejon during the Love Island launch. On Monday night, Meg picked Dejon, but when they met for the first time, fans were convinced there was no attraction on either side. In fact, she then went onto tell the rest of the girls later in the episode that she wasn't really "feeling him". 6 But as Tuesday's recoupling loomed, Meg seemed to change her tune. In fact when she saw US bombshell Toni chatting to Djon, she was heard saying to her fellow Islanders: 'I don't have my man, Dejon's gone - that's it!' This didn't go unnoticed by fans, who took to social media to vent about her "game plan" One said: "Meg doesn't like Dejon but she's got to secure her place in the Villa, baddd!" While another chimed in: "All Meg is worried about is going home, she don't care about Dejon." This one added: "Meg defo has a game plan! "She's being all sweet to Dejon to stay on the show." Love Island fans spot huge clue that the show is hiding another massive week one twist – did you clock it?

LOVE Island fans reckon they have spotted a huge clue hinting at a further week one twist. Viewers were left reeling when Sophie Lee, 29, was dumped after just 48 hours in the villa. 4 4 4 Writing online, eagle-eyed fans have suggested another twist could be around the corner. It comes as two of the guys are now left fighting for a place in the villa. The girls were given power in the recoupling and stood up to make their decision one by one and pick their guy - until only Shea and Blu remained. However, in a MAJOR twist Dejon then received a text which read: "Blu and Shea, you are now single. "Between you both you should now decided who should stay and who should go." The Sun told how Love Island boss Mike Spencer-Hayter had teased a "never been done before" twist for the first week. Taking to Reddit, fans believed Shea and Blu's predicament ISN'T said twist. One wrote: "They teased a crazy first week never before seen twist and am I missing something? what's the twist." Another added: "Its a done before 'twist' though. "So it can't be what the producers are referring to. If anything this is less dramatic since as you say its early in the season and they don't even know each other." Huge shock as SECOND Love Islander is dumped in brutal bombshell recoupling A third commented: "They did it in s7 with Lucinda and Brad. It's not new." While a fourth remarked: "Also they have done that before! I just remember it being between a boy and girl. Tyla and Johnny? Season 3. So cant be." Both lads said they were determined to stay. Previously, the arrival of first bombshell Toni Laites, 24, shook up villa dynamics. She broke up Ben Holbrough and Shakira Khan, giving the newly-single brunette 24 hours to graft the other guys. The following night, the boys were asked if they wanted to swap their current partner for Shakira. She could then pick which of those boys she wanted to couple with. By picking footballer Harry Cooksley, it meant Sophie was eliminated in the process. Love Island continues on ITV2 and ITVX.
