News1822-07-2025
With a Rs 21 crore opening, Saiyaara marks Mohit Suri's biggest debut, beating Ek Villain and Aashiqui 2. It has now raked in Rs 109 crore, rare for a debut actor's film
After a strong box office run, ' Saiyaara ' is now heading to OTT, with Netflix bagging the streaming rights. Starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, the film surpassed expectations and is already being compared to the year's biggest hit, ' Chhava '.
The film, directed by Mohit Suri, has garnered widespread attention on social media, with extensive discussions and praise for the director, known for his previous works ' Ek Villain ' and ' Aashiqui 2 '. The songs from ' Saiyaara ' have also become popular, inspiring numerous social media reels.
' Saiyaara ' boasts the most significant opening of Mohit Suri's career, with an initial collection of Rs 21 crores, surpassing ' Ek Villain ' which opened at Rs 16.70 crore and ' Aashiqui 2 ' which started at 6.10 crore. The film has amassed a total of Rs 109 crore so far, an impressive feat for a debut actor's film.
Following its box office success, ' Saiyaara ' is expected to be available on Netflix soon. Although the exact release date on OTT has not been confirmed, it is anticipated to follow the trend of most Bollywood films and be available online within two months of its theatrical release.
There have been allegations on social media that ' Saiyaara ' is a copy of the Korean film ' A Moment to Remember.' This is not the first time that Bollywood films have faced such accusations; many films have previously been criticised for allegedly being remakes or copies of Korean productions.

Lindsay Lohan On Hollywood Stereotyping And Paparazzi Trauma: ‘I Have Extreme PTSD'

Curated By : Last Updated: August 03, 2025, 11:53 IST Lindsay Lohan spoke about battling PTSD from relentless paparazzi attention. Lindsay Lohan is opening up about the long-lasting impact of fame and how Hollywood continues to limit her as an actor, despite decades in the industry. Speaking to The Times UK ahead of the release of her upcoming film Freakier Friday, the sequel to the 2003 hit Freaky Friday, the 39-year-old star spoke candidly about the pressures of fame, being stereotyped, and her decision to leave Hollywood behind for good. Lohan revealed that she still finds it difficult to land diverse roles, often being cast in similar characters despite proving her range. 'Yeah, I do think I was pigeonholed," she said, adding that working with Meryl Streep on A Prairie Home Companion once felt like a breakthrough moment. 'Which is frustrating. Because, well, you know me as this, but you also know I can do that. So let me! Give me the chance." She continued, 'I have to break that cycle and open doors to something else, leaving people no choice. And in due time, if Martin Scorsese reaches out, I'm not going to say no." After stepping away from acting in 2008 to focus on her personal life, Lohan eventually left Los Angeles altogether, relocating to Dubai in 2015. The move, she says, gave her peace away from the relentless paparazzi culture. 'I don't ever want my family to go through what I went through. I have extreme PTSD from it. It's not safe. It's not fair," she shared. On a separate talk show appearance, she explained how the Middle Eastern city gave her the freedom she needed. 'You can't take someone's photo without asking. It's just different." Besides Freakier Friday, Lohan is also set to star in and executive produce Count My Lies, an upcoming Hulu thriller. She plays a manipulative nanny at the center of a web of secrets. Lohan has also expressed a strong desire to return to classic, character-driven films. 'There are not many major movies I want to go and see that are like that — there's a gap and I'm craving to do work like that," she said. Now married to Bader Shammas, whom she met in Dubai, and mother to son Luai, Lohan says she's entering a new phase. Son of Sardaar 2 X Reviews: Ajay Devgn-Mrunal Thakur get mixed reactions, from paisa vasool to worse than Housefull 5

Last Friday was a pretty eventful one with so many exciting Bollywood releases lined up for movie-buffs. While Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5 arrived on OTT after its theatrical run, Son of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2 released on the silver screen. Starring Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Neeru Bajwa and Deepak Dobriyal, Son of Sardaar 2 is a standalone sequel to the 2012 film Son of Sardaar. Did the sequel manage to tickle audiences' funny bone like the original had? Well, the verdict is here and the internet is divided. Mrunal Thakur and Ajay Devgn in Son of Sardaar 2 Some fans were blown away by the 'clean comedy' that Ajay Devgn's film presented, with many calling Son of Sardaar 2 a 'paisa vasool' watch. One such netizen tweeted, 'Mind Blowing movie 🔥🔥💓💓 Full of Roller coaster, Entertaing start to end what a comeback of @ajaydevgn in Comedy Genre. Its absolute Banger 🎊🎊@ravikishann man he is on another level 🔥🔥Galat Negativity log faila rahe h, ye Paisa Wasool h 4/5*😃 #SonOfSardaar2 #AjayDevgn,' whereas another review read, 'Just came out of watching #SonOfSardaar2 and I'm still smiling! 😄 What a fun-filled, clean, family entertainer. @ajaydevgn and @mrunal0801 have amazing chemistry, they light up the screen together! 🔥❤️ @RaviKishan and @Deepak Sir have done a good job. Overall the movie is good.' But there were also quite a lot of netizens who compared Son of Sardaar 2 to Housefull 5, calling the Ajay-starrer worse. For instance, a tweet read, '#SonOfSardaar2 Review: PAKISTAN ZINDAABAAD! RATING - ⭐⭐ 2/5* Respect for #Housefull5🫡 At least, it wasn't Pro-Pakistani. #SOS2 misfires big time despite some hilarious segment and cheerful parodies. One of the weakest and out of the context sequels in Bollywood. #AjayDevgn.' Another post stated, '#SonOfSardaar2 Literally a colossal flop. Not one good scene. All the jokes and comedy are pure gags and vulgar. Worse than #Housefull5 0 story and screenplay is 🗑️. #AjayDevgn is horrible and expressionless. #MrunalThakur is just eye candy. Songs are bad too. TRASH! 0.5/5.' After reading these lukewarm reviews of Son of Sardaar 2, are you planning to watch the comedy this week?

Comedian Matt Rife Buys Ed And Lorraine's Haunted Home, Becomes ‘Legal Guardian' Of Annabelle Doll

Matt Rife bought paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren's Connecticut home. He will be the legal guardian of their haunted collection, including the Annabelle doll. Comedian Matt Rife, best known for his sharp improv skills and sold-out stand-up shows, is making headlines once again. Rife has officially purchased the Connecticut residence that once belonged to famed paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, figures whose work inspired The Conjuring universe. As part of the acquisition, he has also assumed legal guardianship of the Annabelle doll, one of the most notorious items in modern horror lore. Confirming the news on Instagram, Rife shared, INSANE ANNOUNCEMENT. I have officially purchased Ed and Lorraine Warren's home and Occult Museum, including being the legal guardian for at least the next 5 years, of the entire haunted collection including THE ANNABELLE DOLL, with my good friend @eltoncastee!! If you know me, you know I'm obsessed with the paranormal and all things haunted. You also may know The Conjuring films are my favorite scary movies of all time. So I'm incredibly honored to have taken over one of the most prominent properties in paranormal history. Ed and Lorain Warren arguably put demonology and paranormal into the mainstream and are the very heart of some of the most famous haunted stories of all time, The Conjuring House, Amityville Horror, et… We plan to open the house for overnight stays and museum tours so you yourself can experience and learn all the haunted history surrounding this amazing place. #TheConjuring #Annabelle #AnnabelleDoll #haunted." Take a look: In a TikTok video that quickly went viral, Rife provided more context about the purchase. 'This might be the most important and prominent piece of paranormal history in the world," he explained. 'I know a lot of you guys don't know what any of this means whatsoever, but if you follow ghost stuff, this is as big as it gets." He further clarified, 'We are the legal guardians and caretakers of all 750 haunted artifacts and items in the Warren Museum, including the Annabelle doll. We do not legally own the items, but we are the legal guardians and caretakers of the items for at least the next five years." The Annabelle doll gained international attention after appearing in the opening scene of The Conjuring (2013), and went on to star in a spinoff trilogy: Annabelle (2014), Annabelle: Creation (2017), and Annabelle Comes Home (2019). The last installment was set entirely within the Warrens' artifact-filled home, the very property Rife now owns. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
