Days of Our Lives Recap: Hope and John Work Together to Give Bo a Chance at Survival

Yahoo27-05-2025

On today's Days of Our Lives recap:
University Hospital – Kayla's Office: Marlena arrives and Kayla asks why she isn't home with John. Marlena says he isn't back yet. Marlena says John made a pit stop to help gain the drug to help save Bo. Kayla explains the entire situation and why they are simply trying to get a singular dose. She apologizes for the delay in John's return, but Marlena understands as she and John have the rest of their lives together. They both understand how their respective husbands have considered Bo a brother to them both.
Flashback: Bo telling his sister she can depend on him for anything.
In real-time, Kayla notes how many times Bo, John and Steve have stepped up to save their lives and provide the foundation for their families. Kayla thinks they are both so lucky to have them return and worries Bo won't be able to do so this time.
Kayla encourages Marlena to head home to get some sleep but she's not willing to leave. She says she was so excited to see her husband come home. Kayla is certain John will get his mission accomplished and come home to the woman he loves.
Hospital (unclear on location): Hope is at Bo's bedside, strokes his face, kisses him on the lips and wishes him a happy anniversary. Flashback to one of Bo and Hope's weddings and their amazing vows… In real-time, she says it seems like yesterday they had their adventures and wishes they could do it all over again. Just then, Ciara Alice enters and embraces her mother. Hope says Shawn Douglas will be their soon but makes no mention of Chelsea. They both admit how scared they are. Hope says the priest gave Bo his last right as but she thinks he's hanging on to give his family a chance to return.
Ciara says Ben is at the hotel with the kids. Hope asks Ciara to sit with her father for a while so she can go elsewhere. Ciara begins to cry as she sits next to her father and says how strange it feels to see him in such a sedentary state. She would give anything to fix her father so they could get on their motorcycles or their boats and take on new adventures. She explains how Ben is a great father to Bo and Addie and how he makes her feel safe and loved. Flashback to Bo telling his daughter to hold on to her necklace and remember how much her parents love her (C'mon, Lauren Boles!!!).
Ciara says they will be together no matter what. Afterwards, we see Bo walking in Horton Square, and he sees Tom and Alice's plaque. He has no idea with the hell he is doing there.
Back at the hospital, Ciara Alice talks with Bo about all of his children. She says she didn't always do a great job of living up to her middle name. Ciara wishes she had realized sooner how blessed she was to be his daughter and to be a Brady.
In Bo's mind, Bo wanders around and looks through the window of the pub. He sees Kayla and Steve eating and enters. Bo hears Steve and Kayla talking about him and then realizes they can't hear or see him. Suddenly, he is back outside and locked out of the restaurant.
In real-time, Bo's monitors begin to go haywire and Ciara calls for help. She goes to his side and breaks down, begging her father to stay with them. The doctor stabilizes Bo and Ciara wonders where her mother could be.
Random Alley: John arrives, and Steve introduces him to Dr Russell as their savior (the 'that's a fact' of it all killed me). Steve explains John is an expert as this kind of thing and insisted on showing up to help them. They discuss how they need to be ready for whatever comes next. Steve says the security system has a two-part security system, John can cover one part… and Hope enters saying she can cover the other.
Hope cuts the wires which unlocks the doors. She tells Dr Russell to come with her and help locate the drug.
Shawn Douglas is worried he will never get to say goodbye to his father. Steve knows he blames himself for his father's condition. That being said, he is counting on Bo to hold on and pull through.
Warehouse: Hope, John, and Dr Russell enter and a person on the floor (Asher?) begins to rouse from an unconscious state. Dr Russell spots the Sepsis drug just as Asher jumps up and attacks Dr Russell. Hope grabs the drug as Asher wrestles with the good doctor and the room begins to fill with smoke.
Asher, who seems to be high, pulls a knife and says he's going to kill them. John swings into action as flames begin to rise. Hope gets Dr Russell out and tries to go back in but the fire has engulfed the doorway.
The fire fighters have now arrived and Steve and Hope are trying desperately to get to John but are not allowed. They tell the group of four they have found a body. The medics bring John out on a gurney and he is still alive. Dr Russell wants to take a look but is told to stand down. The medic indicates John is badly burned as the suit didn't protect him.
Hope and Steve tell John he's going to pull through like he always does. Shawn Douglas looks down at John's open hand and realizes he secured one vile of the sepsis drug. He gives it to Hope and tells her to go save Bo.
Horton House: Julie calls Hope and leaves her a message to wish her a happy anniversary. Later, Julie is pacing the floor looking at a picture of Bo and Hope. She flashes back to an earlier, happier time. She pulls down a picture of Doug and asks him to help Bo in anyway he can.
University Hospital – Kayla's Office: Kayla takes a call from Shawn Douglas and tells Marlena there's been an explosion. She says John has been badly hurt.
University Hospital – Bo's Room: Shawn Douglas and Hope arrive to tell Ciara they secured the drug for Bo. They think it's the miracle they've been waiting for. Hope sits by Bo's side and tells him to fight.
University Hospital – Lobby: Steve tells Dr Russell the man who attacked him is dead. He says John not only saved Dr Russell's life but also his life's work. Steve hands him vibes of the drug saying John protected them with his body. He tells the good doctor to continue his work because John put his life on the line to save his important drug. With that, Steve takes a seat and breaks down.
University Hospital – John's Room: Marlena and Kayla are at John's bedside. Kayla says John inhaled a lot of smoke and has 3rd degree burns over 30% of his body. Marlena is in tears and says she called the kids who are on their way. She says she won't be leaving his side.
Endings
Julie takes a seat and wishes Doug a happy anniversary. She says she thinks of him every day and cherishes their love. She kisses the picture and pulls it close to her chest.
Hope, Ciara and Shawn Douglas recite the Lord's prayer as the doctor administer the sepsis drug.
Marlena knows John is exhausted but begs him not to leave her now. Steve enters and stands by Marlena's side. He says Stefano may have called himself the phoenix but had nothing on John Black. We now flashback to John's origin story, many of his identities and life-threatening adventures. With each heartbeat, we see a different flashback scene. In real-time, John whispers, 'I love you, Doc' to Marlena. As soon as he elicits the sentiment, the heart monitor flatlines. Kayla returns and says he's coding. Steve pulls Marlena to the side and she calls out to her beloved that she is right there.

Reds beat Brewers on TJ Friedl's walk-off home run robbery

CINCINNATI — The question is absurd and has no correct answer, but what's better, a walk-off home run or a walk-off home run robbery? 'Granted, I don't have a walk-off catch, I don't know the experience with that, but I would say a walk-off home run is the (ultimate) thing you can do in a baseball game,' said Will Benson, whose first career big-league home run was a walk-off homer against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Advertisement Cincinnati Reds center fielder TJ Friedl has a pair of walk-off hits, both singles, not homers, but Tuesday he got the chance to walk off the game on defense, robbing Milwaukee Brewers pinch hitter Jake Bauers of a score-tying home run with two outs in the ninth inning in the 4-2 Reds victory. 'This is tops,' Friedl said after the victory. 'This tops my other walk-offs for sure. To end a game like that, you dream of that as an outfielder growing up and in your backyard robbing home runs.' Of course, either one will do. Tuesday's victory didn't need dramatics to make it feel significant, even if it didn't hurt. The win not only snapped the Reds' three-game losing streak but also the Brewers' eight-game winning streak. With the win, the Reds have a chance to take a series from the Brewers for the first time in 12 series. Since the start of 2023, the Brewers have won 23 of 32 games against the Reds and 30 of 41 games at Great American Ball Park since Sept. 24, 2019. Baseball seasons are long, with highs and lows, but sometimes patterns start to emerge. It's not just that the Reds have struggled to win games against the Brewers, it's how they've lost them, losing leads, costly mistakes, hard-hit balls finding gloves — just about everything that could go wrong had, and often it was against the team that's won the National League Central the last two years and made the playoffs in six of the last seven seasons. To make too much of one game is foolish, even in September, much less at the beginning of June. That said, Tuesday's win, featured a pair of opposite-field homers and a sacrifice fly to go along with Friedl's dazzling defensive play and starter Hunter Greene's pumping in strike one to all 23 batters he faced. The Reds, who still don't have a walk-off hit this year, have the fifth-most runs in baseball through the first six innings of games and the ninth fewest after the sixth inning. Advertisement Tuesday, the Reds not only took the lead in the seventh but also added on in the eighth inning with Benson's sixth home run of the season. All of that, though, was nearly lost when shortstop Elly De La Cruz made his 10th error of the season, tying him with Manny Machado of the San Diego Padres for the most in baseball. The Reds also lost Greene after five innings when he felt the hamstring that put him on the injured list earlier this year grab on the final pitches of the fifth. He is scheduled to have an MRI on Wednesday. As Caleb Durbin stood at second base after De La Cruz's attempted game-ending throw sailed well over the head of Spencer Steer at first and into the first-base camera well, it felt like another bad loss for a Reds team that started the season with a blown save on Opening Day. Too often this season, the team has managed to grab defeat from the jaws of victory. To make matters worse, Reds closer Emilio Pagán got behind Bauers 2-1 when the Brewers pinch hitter jumped on his four-seam fastball and hit it 106.2 mph with a launch angle of 26 degrees. It was, Friedl thought, about as well as you could hit a ball without its going out. Would it have gone out had Friedl's glove not gotten in the way? After seeing just one replay, Friedl said he wasn't sure, but he knew he got his glove over the wall and then felt the ball hit the webbing. It was a play the team had practiced just the day before, with outfielder coach Collin Cowgill shooting baseballs from a pitching machine for Friedl, Benson and Jake Fraley to practice catching at the wall. 'We literally worked on it yesterday,' Friedl said after Tuesday's victory. 'In 2023 when I robbed that one in center, we worked on it that day. Then it just so happens we worked on it yesterday. … Maybe we should work on it more often.' Is this the dagger? #ATOBTTR — Cincinnati Reds (@Reds) June 4, 2025 Friedl said he was so excited he initially forgot to show the ball to second base umpire Nic Lentz until he noticed Lentz staring at him. Reds manager Terry Francona, who might have said some words he wouldn't repeat in the postgame news conference while watching the flight of Bauers' ball, said he wasn't sure whether Friedl caught the ball until he saw his reaction. Advertisement 'You may have seen a grown man crying,' Francona said, referring to himself. It was the type of play that has seemed to go against the Reds so far this year. Just the day before, with the Reds trailing 3-2 in the fifth, Friedl led off the inning with a bunt single and took off to steal with Gavin Lux at the plate. With Friedl on the move, Brewers shortstop Joey Ortiz was standing next to the bag where he fielded the ball and threw on to first for a double play. Earlier this season, second baseman Matt McLain had what he thought was a go-ahead home run land just short in the ninth inning of a 3-2 loss in Milwaukee. That was the day after the Reds lost their third 1-0 game in a row with the only run scored by the Brewers unearned. 'It's still a long season, there are so many games left, but I feel like this is who we are and we can win in so many different ways,' said Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson, whose fifth-inning two-run home run tied the score at 2. 'I don't know, people will say it's a spark or whatever, but to end the game like that, it's obviously something to build off of.' Before Tuesday's game, Francona was asked whether he could tell when a team was about to go on a hot streak. 'Believe me, if there were a magical elixir, I would (get) it,' Francona said. 'I think there is a formula — normally you win a close game.' The Reds did that, and it wouldn't be the first time a Friedl walk-off sparked them. His first career walk-off came April 24, 2023, against the Texas Rangers. That not only snapped a six-game losing streak, but it was the first of a five-game winning streak, including a sweep of the Rangers, who would go on to win the World Series. In June of that same season, the Reds had back-to-back walk-off wins against the Dodgers, the second won on Benson's walk-off homer. The Reds would lose the next two games but then go on a 12-game winning streak. Advertisement Nobody is saying this Reds team will repeat that. To do that, they'd have to hope McLain started turning it around with a seventh-inning double that set up Connor Joe's go-ahead sacrifice fly. A good MRI on Greene's hamstring Wednesday wouldn't hurt, nor would another stellar outing by Andrew Abbott, who allowed just two earned runs over six starts in May, to take the team's first series from the Brewers since May 2022. 'It's reaffirming to realize that we can win those close games, we don't have to go out and score seven or eight runs and make all the spectacular plays,' Pagán said. 'Yes, we ended it with one tonight, but there's enough talent in here to just play baseball and go win games.'

Gibson is searching for an iconic movie guitar

Lost to the Future - The Search for Marty McFly's Back to the Future Guitar Gibson is on the hunt for one very special guitar: The cherry red Gibson ES-345 used by Marty McFly to play Chuck Berry's Johnny B Goode in the 1985 hit movie Back to the Future. Remember it? Course you do. To mark the movie's 40th anniversary, the legendary guitar maker has decided it wants to track down the whereabouts of the iconic instrument, and it's even called on those connected to the movie to help it in its quest. In a star-filled video (top) released on Tuesday, Back to the Future lead Michael J. Fox says: 'We need your help. We're trying to find the guitar I played in Back of the Future. It's somewhere lost in the space-time continuum … or it's in some Teamster's garage.' The actor adds: ' If you know where it is, if you know who has it, call us, text us.' Christopher Lloyd, who played the mad scientist Dr. Emmett Brown in the movie, also chimes in, saying: 'Somehow, it's vanished … This guitar has been lost to the future.' Ah, lost to the future, that's catchy. Well, it turns out that the search for the Gibson ES-345 will form the basis of a documentary called just that: Lost to the Future. The project appears designed to engage fans of both the movie and the guitar, while also documenting the guitar's impact and its mysterious disappearance. On the YouTube page featuring Fox et al, Gibson elaborates: 'When it comes to guitars in movies, no guitar was more iconic or more influential than the cherry red Gibson ES-345 used by Marty McFly to play Johnny B Goode in the movie Back to the Future. That scene has been cited by countless artists as the moment they knew they wanted to play guitar.' It adds: 'One problem: the guitar has been missing since 1985, and no one knows its whereabouts.' The documentary team will apparently 'search the globe' for what Gibson insists is 'the most important guitar in cinema history.' Guess Spinal Tap's 'never played' guitar doesn't quite cut it. So, Back to the Future's Gibson ES-345. Do you know where it is?
