"India is a peace-loving state, but..." Ravi Kishan speaks out on Operation Sindoor as India fights against terrorism

India Gazette18-05-2025
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 18 (ANI): BJP Member of Parliament (MP) Ravi Kishan recently shared his views on Operation Sindoor, India's military response to terrorism, as well as his upcoming recognition with the Sansad Ratna Award 2025.
Ravi Kishan, known for his active role in both politics and the film industry, spoke firmly to ANI about India's stance on terrorism and the country's security efforts.
He emphasised that India, while a peace-loving nation, would not hesitate to take decisive action if provoked.
Regarding Operation Sindoor, which was launched on May 7, Kishan said, 'India is a peace-loving state, but will also not retreat from war... If Pakistan does any terrorist activity or provokes India, it will get a befitting reply from India... The Indian Armed Forces know how to give a befitting reply.'
Operation Sindoor was India's strong response to the tragic terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 people.
India's strike targeted nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) in retaliation.
Kishan further explained India's global diplomatic efforts in the fight against terrorism, particularly with the all-party delegation visiting key partner countries to raise awareness about Pakistan's role in spreading terror.
He elaborated, 'A committee of members from various parties has been constituted and they will be meeting leaders from across the world... This is a huge step and will tell the world how Pakistan spreads terrorism to disrupt peace in India and this time, the entire nation united against Pakistan. 'Modi ji ne ghar mein ghus ke maara'...'
Meanwhile, the BJP MP also expressed his gratitude upon being selected for the prestigious Sansad Ratna Award for 2025, an honour recognising the most distinguished parliamentarians for their contribution to parliamentary work and public service.
'I thank PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, and the public of Gorakhpur who bestowed their trust on me... Their trust motivates me to work hard and raise their issues in the parliament... I thank the jury members who selected me for the Sansad Ratna Award 2025... I am very happy...' said Kishan, who has represented Gorakhpur in the Lok Sabha. (ANI)

Cong MLA to join AGP before '26 polls

1 2 Silchar: In a significant development ahead of the 2026 assembly elections, Congress MLA from Karimganj South and former minister Siddeque Ahmed has announced his decision to join the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), a member of BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Ahmed said he held discussions with senior AGP leaders, including party president Atul Bora. "I have talked to the AGP leadership and finalised my decision to join the party. The Congress has no future in Assam under the current leadership," Ahmed added. Congress had suspended its Ahmed from the primary membership of the party in Apr, 2022 after he deliberately disobeyed the three-line whip issued by the party for the Rajya Sabha poll. A four-time MLA (one each from Samata Party and as Independent and two times as Congress) from the minority-dominated constituency, Ahmed has been a prominent face of Congress in the Barak Valley. He had earlier served as a cabinet minister in the Tarun Gogoi-led govt. Since his suspension from the party, Ahmed publicly criticised the functioning of the Congress in the state, but had not formally indicated any plans of switching allegiance — until now. Taking a swipe at Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi, Ahmed said, "Congress under Gaurav Gogoi can't win the next Assembly elections. The party's performance in the last panchayat polls was a disaster. People have lost faith in the party." He added that several of his supporters and grassroots workers from Sribhumi district would also join the AGP in the coming days. "The AGP still commands respect among the people of Assam. My supporters and I will strengthen the NDA to ensure stability and development in the state," he the AGP leadership has not officially confirmed the date of Ahmed's induction, party insiders indicated that a formal joining ceremony may take place in Guwahati later this month. Ahmed's defection is being seen as a blow to the Congress in Barak Valley, a region where the party has traditionally held influence. With this move, the AGP also hopes to expand its footprint in the Bengali-speaking areas of southern Assam.

Suggesting Tipu conceptualised KRS dam is pandering to vote bank, says BJP

Bengaluru: Opposition BJP Monday accused Congress of distorting Karnataka's history and disrespecting the legacy of the erstwhile Mysore royal family, especially Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, over recent remarks crediting Tipu Sultan with laying the foundation for Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) dam. The controversy erupted when social welfare minister HC Mahadevappa, in charge of Mysuru district, during an event in Srirangapatna Sunday, said, "Tipu Sultan was the first to conceptualise the dam and laid the foundation stone, but nobody has the courage to say this. BR Ambedkar has said that those who don't know history cannot create history." Reacting strongly, BJP state president BY Vijayendra accused Congress of trying to rewrite well-documented history. In a post, he said, "Tipu died in 1799, while the dam was planned more than a century later in 1908." "From the beginning, CM Siddaramaiah has shown contempt towards the royal family. Just recently, MLC Yathindra stated that his father (Siddaramaiah) was greater than Nalwadi Krishna Raja Wadiyar. Now, Mahadevappa has insulted the legacy and sacrifice behind the construction of the Kannambadi dam by crediting Tipu Sultan. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like It's Genius for Learning Languages [See Why] Talkpal AI Undo The story of the Mysuru royal family's sacrifice is remembered even today in every household of the erstwhile Mysore kingdom. " Vijayendra said the dam project was conceived in 1908, work began in 1911, and was completed in 1932, overcoming British opposition and financial constraints. He recalled how Nalwadi's mother, Vanivilasa Sannidhana, and wife, Krishnavilasa Sannidhana, sold their jewellery to fund the project. He also credited engineer Sir M Visvesvaraya and others with bringing the project to fruition. "Nalwadi's contribution was so profound that Mahatma Gandhi referred to him as a Rajarshi," he added. Opposition leader, R Ashoka, alleged that the Siddaramaiah govt is plotting to rename KRS as Tipu Sultan Sagar. Meanwhile, some Mysuru-based historians noted that while Tipu did express interest in building water works, there is no credible evidence that he conceived or laid the foundation stone for KRS dam . Historians say there is indeed an inscription to the effect that Tipu was keen on building a dam but say the reservoir in Mandya was conceptualised and built under the patronage of Krishnaraja Wadiyar.

BJP accuses Rahul Gandhi of making ‘immature' comments against Armed Forces

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday stated that Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi's credibility is at stake, citing the Supreme Court's remarks during the hearing of a criminal defamation case related to his December 2022 comments on Indo-China border tensions. At a press conference, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said: 'Such immature, anti-Army, and demoralising statements made without any evidence or facts, especially when our Army was engaged in the Galwan incident, raise serious questions. Why does Rahul Gandhi make such statements? This is a big question. And it is a question about his credibility.' 'The question arises: Does India deserve a more responsible and better Leader of Opposition? As a Leader of the Opposition, who has taken an oath under the Constitution to safeguard the sovereignty of our country, is he destroying that very sovereignty? ...is he helping the nations which are inimical to our country? Is he demoralising the brave Indian armed forces?' the BJP leader asked. Quoting the Supreme Court's remarks, Mr. Bhatia alleged that this was not the first time Mr. Gandhi had displayed 'such an anti-India' mindset. He referred to another defamation case involving comments by the Congress leader about V.D. Savarkar. 'We all know that the commission-hungry Congress failed to procure Rafale jets for 10 years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi made sure that the Air Force received these aircraft. Displaying similar immaturity, Rahul Gandhi used inappropriate language for the Prime Minister. Subsequently, the Supreme Court's decision affirmed that the addition of Rafale jets strengthened the Air Force and was in India's national interest,' Mr. Bhatia added.
