Roll7's 'OlliOlli World' and 'Rollerdrome' are back on Steam

Engadget2 days ago

Their creators might be gone, but OlliOlli World and Rollerdrome are finally back on Steam, based on listings spotted by Eurogamer . Both games were delisted from storefronts like Steam and the Xbox Games Store following publisher Take-Two's decision to shutdown developer Roll7, Intercept Games and publishing label Private Division a little over a year ago.
OlliOlli World and Rollerdrome represent diverging, but equally great examples of what made Roll7 special. They're thoughtful, visually stylish games about skateboarding and rollerblading that capture the zen-like state you can enter pulling off multiple tricks in a row (plus or minus a mascot costume and a shotgun).
Eurogamer notes that Take-Two always planned to put both games back on sale when it originally delisted them, it just took a lot longer to bring them back than expected. 2K, another Take-Two subsidiary, is now serving as the publisher.
When the company closed Private Division, not every game stayed at Take-Two. The publisher continues to back games like No Rest for the Wicked from the developer of Ori and the Blind Forest , but a collection of other in-development projects were sold to Haveli Investments, Bloomberg reports. The investment firm brought on former Annapurna Interactive staff to manage the slate following the implosion of that indie-focused publisher and developer in September 2024.

How to watch the Wholesome Direct showcase on June 7 at 12PM ET

Wholesome Direct, an annual showcase of cute and cozy games, is coming back on Saturday, June 7 at 12PM ET. This is a live event that can be streamed via the official YouTube page or Twitch account . The organizers promise to show off "a vibrant lineup of artistic, uplifting, and emotionally resonant games from developers of all sizes from around the world." The YouTube stream link is already available, so feel free to bookmark this page and come back on June 7 just in time for the show. Last year's stream was a whole lot of fun. One of the cool things about Wholesome Direct is that the organizers typically make several games available for download immediately after the event, though we don't know which ones will get that sort of VIP treatment this year. We only know a few of the games that will be covered during the event. There's an adorable puzzle game called Is This Seat Taken? that tasks players with positioning cute little characters on a bus, in a waiting room or at a restaurant. This one's actually being released by the event's publishing arm, Wholesome Games Presents. Another title is called MakeRoom and reminds me of the indie hit Unpacking , but with a focus on designing the perfect room and sharing that creation with friends. The mobile game Usagi Shima is coming to Steam and is getting a prime spot at Wholesome Direct. This title has players transforming a barren island to make it hospitable to lovable bunnies. Minami Lane is already out for Switch , but is also coming to Steam and will be featured during the livestream. It's a town management sim that focuses on one street at a time. It's also extremely easy on the eyes. Last year's stream discussed over 30 titles. That leaves plenty of room for cozy surprises. Also, the showcase falls right in the middle of Summer Game Fest , which hosts a group of loosely-affiliated events that begin on June 6.

Danganronpa creator would love to port his acclaimed strategy RPG to more consoles, but the studio is "still on the brink of going under"

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Kazutaka Kodaka's new strategy RPG The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy came out just a few weeks ago, but the developer's still on thin ice financially. By most metrics, The Hundred Line seems to have gone down like a treat for players. On Steam, the game has over 1,400 user reviews with 91% of people giving it a thumbs up. And it's also gotten some sweet reactions on Metacritic and such, but it hasn't totally saved its developer Too Kyo Games yet. Over on BlueSky, one fan asked about whether The Hundred Line would ever come out on more platforms after its launch on PC and Nintendo Switch on April 24, 2025. Co-director and Dangonronpa creator Kazutaka Kodaka responded by saying: "If I can pay off my debt early and secure enough operating funds for the company, I'd love to get started right away. But right now, we're still on the brink of going under." Kodaka previously explained how the studio "ended up with a lot of debt" while making the game since funding a fashionable high school visual novel, tactical RPG hybrid with around 100 full-fledged endings is a significant undertaking. For those out of the loop, Too Kyo Games was jointly formed by Kodaka and Zero Escape creator Kotaro Uchikoshi. The visual novel royalty worked on a few other games together, but The Hundred Line is easily the team's biggest, most ambitious production yet. Here's hoping the duo can keep making wild, unpredictable games while finding some financial stability. In the meantime, check out some of the other new games of 2025 to see what's coming next.

You can get 15 percent off Elden Ring Nightreign on Steam and Xbox

Elden Ring Nightreign just launched, delivering a multiplayer-focused, roguelike-meets-Soulslike experience, and it's already discounted. Grab it for Steam or Xbox from Newegg at 15 percent off by entering the offer code XVSAVE at checkout. This lets you get it on either platform for $33.99. We previously saw the game discounted by an additional $2 pre-launch, but this is currently the best price available. Nightreign seems like more of everything that was already great about Elden Ring, plus the ability to squad up with up to three players to cooperatively take on treacherous enemies and bosses. The game utilizes procedural generation to alter some of the base game's locales. So, don't let familiarity get to your head to the point that you're trying to take this adventure on alone (I'm talking to you, let me solo her); both its difficulty and tuning weren't exactly made with solo players in mind. That said, our Ash Parrish is having a blast playing it that way. Other great deals for your Friday Since there's now a newer Blink Video Doorbell, Amazon is slashing the cost of the last-gen Blink Video Doorbell to just $29.99 (from $59.99). Sure, it doesn't have some of the new models' most appealing features, like person detection, higher video resolution (1440p versus 1080p), or a wider field-of-view, but it's still worth considering if you're trying to save money. It uses two AA batteries instead of three in the new model. And, if you want longer battery life, plus the ability to sync extra Blink devices at home, you can opt for the $34.99 Blink Video Doorbell bundle that includes the Sync Module 2. Not bad for a measly $5 extra. For avid fans of The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 who can't get enough backstory, the latest Humble bundle goes deep into both worlds with a slate of Dark Horse Comics titles. For $24, you can get 25 comics and graphic novels, including nine volumes of The Witcher, The Witcher: Ronin manga, eight volumes of Cyberpunk 2077, plus multiple art books. One of the most fascinating inclusions is a 1993 comic of The Witcher, which has the first-ever visual representation of Geralt of Rivia. Proceeds from your purchase will go to Special Effect, a UK-based charity that gives to gamers with disabilities. If you plan to buy a bunch of Switch 2 games and accessories, welcome to the club. Also, consider getting a paid My Best Buy Plus membership beforehand (it costs $49.99 per year), as you'll get $20 back for every $150 you spend. You can get up to five $20 promotional certificates on games and accessories. In other words, the membership will pay for itself pretty quickly.
