CM, Deputy CM to join Janahita padayatra
He remarked that attempts were made to project his yatra as AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan's by some for vested interests. The yatra, launched on July 31, was halted on August 4 since the TPCC staged a dharna in Delhi demanding approval of bills on BC reservation bills.
In an informal interaction with the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Saturday, Mr. Mahesh Kumar revealed that they initially wanted to launch a bus yatra but later decided to take up a padayatra (foot march), adding that the yatra is receiving an overwhelming response, akin to the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
'The majority of the appeals from the people during the yatra are related to the sanction of new pensions,' he said. Referring to the issue of BC reservations, the TPCC president reiterated their commitment towards implementing 42% reservations for BCs. He, however, criticised the BJP leaders for their opposition to Muslims reservations within the BC reservations.
'Why is Union Minister Kishan Reddy silent on reservations for Muslims in Gujarat, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh?' he asked, adding that the silence of BJP BC MPs, Bandi Sanjay, Eatala Rajender, and Dharmapuri Arvind, would harm the BCs in the State.
The Congress senior leader also said that a BC leader from the Congress would certainly become the Chief Minister for Telangana. He also said that there is nothing wrong with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for saying that he would remain in the post for 10 years, as that would help the government gain the confidence of the people. 'There has been a lot of change in the Chief Minister's behaviour, he is a different person now compared to when he was TPCC president,' he said.
Mr. Mahesh Kumar also dismissed the reports that he had differences with Chief Minister. 'We maintain a good relationship. It should be noted that we fought unitedly for the BC reservations,' he claimed.
On recent comments by Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy and Jadcherla MLA J. Anirudh Reddy, the TPCC president said the party's disciplinary committee would look into the matter. He also stated that the political advisory committee would meet in four to five days to take a call on BC reservations in the local bodies.

The allegations come as the Opposition continues to display rare unity in Parliament over the EC's special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar. 'What Mahagathbandhan has been saying that there's complete fraud being done by EC, there can be only two things: either the entire process of SIR of the Election Commission is fraudulent, or the Bihar Deputy CM is a fraud,' Yadav added in his statement. Earlier in the day, over a post on X, Yadav wrote: 'Here is the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Vijay Sinha, a close associate of Modi Ji. These are voters from two different assembly constituencies in two different districts. From the Lakhi Sarai assembly constituency in Lakhi Sarai district and from the Bankipur assembly constituency in Patna district. They have two different EPICs.' Questioning if it is an 'age scam', Yadav said, 'They have two different ages in both places. In one place, their age is 57 years, while in the other, it is 60 years. Is this not fraud and an age scam? They have filled out two different enumeration forms in two different assembly constituencies. They have signed both different enumeration forms. In other words, they deliberately got two votes registered in two different places.' He further wrote on X: 'If they did not personally sign both enumeration forms, did the Election Commission create two different votes for them in two different assembly constituencies based on forged signatures?… Did the Election Commission deliberately register votes for BJP supporters in this pattern? How did the Election Commission include their name in the draft lists of both places? Will they receive two different notices, or are these rules only for the opposition?' Responding to the allegations, the Bihar Dy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha sought to clarify Yadav's allegations upon him, and told the reporters, 'Earlier, my entire family's name was listed in Patna. In April 2024, I applied to add my name to the Lakhi Sarai Assembly. I also filled out a form to have my name removed. I have the proof. For some reason, my name wasn't removed, so I called the BLO and submitted a written application and took a receipt… I have both documents. My deletion form was rejected…' He also clarified that he registers his vote in a single assembly constituency. 'I vote from only one place. Last time too, I voted only from Lakhi Sarai, and this time as well, the form was filled from there,' he added. Referring to Yadav, and asserting the need to show 'complete facts,' the Deputy CM said, 'It is sad that a person sitting on a constitutional post tarnishes politics with such language, this does not befit him. The complete facts should be known. The whole of Bihar and the country knows that the way the prince of Jungle Raj plays the game of tarnishing others. He should apologise and such false allegations should not be made at all.'

INDIA bloc mulls joint candidate for VP polls; Kharge reaching out to Opposition parties: Sources
NEW DELHI: The INDIA bloc will put up a joint candidate for the vice presidential polls and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge is reaching out to opposition parties to explore names and reach a consensus on it, sources said Sunday. They said that there was a strong feeling in the bloc that opposition parties should not shy away from a contest to send a strong political message irrespective of the outcome. Though there has not been any structured discussion on picking a candidate, backchannel talks are on among INDIA bloc partners to deliberate on names of possible candidates with Kharge reaching out to opposition parties for building a consensus. There is consensus among parties that the INDIA bloc will put up a joint candidate for the vice presidential polls, Congress sources said. However, a section in the opposition camp believes that the INDIA bloc must decide their candidate after the BJP announces its pick. This comes at a time of heightened unity among INDIA bloc constituents who have vowed to fight against the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar and alleged poll rigging. In a show of unity, top INDIA bloc leaders held a dinner meeting at the residence of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday and vowed to fight the electoral rolls' revision in Bihar as well as what they described as the "vote chori model" of the BJP-Election Commission. This was the first physical meeting of top leaders of the opposition bloc since they last met in June 2024, soon after the Lok Sabha elections at Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge's residence.
