Criminal Justice 4 review: Stellar Pankaj Tripathi cross-examines average legal drama
The eight-episode series, out of which only three have been aired right now, tells the story from Mishra's eyes. While the women in the show leave a lasting impact, this is probably one rare series which treats Ayyub as nothing more than a plot device. For a layered actor like him, Dr Raj Nagpal becomes a half-baked character, lacking both the moral dilemma and shock of losing a lover. Both Chawla and Negi become the assisting wheels in Tripathi's carriage, which keeps moving on a bumpy road. While Chawla's straight-faced performance exposes the pain and discomfort that Anju is dealing with, Negi successfully makes you empathise with her 'other woman' emotions. Khushboo Atre as Mishra's vivacious wife, Ratna, adds the perfect colours to an otherwise black-and-white legal drama. But, it's not the performance that keeps you from calling it a full-blown, engaging legal drama. It's more to do with the story, which appears equal parts lethargic and predictable. You see, the idea of a murder mystery is to leave you guessing till the very end. To make you wonder if the person you think has murdered the victim is the real murderer or not. And if you are able to crack the answer in a few episodes, then what are you even watching? So, while 'Criminal Justice Season 4' is not boring fluff, it doesn't offer a wholesome, gripping experience.advertisementA few scenes look immensely stretched, and a few others give you a deja vu from the previous seasons of the franchise. Once you are into it, you'll want to binge-watch until the end, but once you are at the end, the end will not look compelling enough. Or at least you'd feel like you want more from the show. 'Criminal Justice Season 4' is an average thriller-legal watch on OTT. But, Tripathi is not cut for average. In a show where he's rising above 100 per cent, the series itself has to land absolutely and perfectly well. At this pace, the series makes half-hearted efforts to impress you, and rests too heavily on Tripathi's dependable shoulders. A tighter plot, sharper tension and fuller character arcs would have made it a crown-worthy winner of the genre. Right now, it's just a hopeful contestant who fumbled lines at the audition and has been asked to try again next season.A case of a case which might not be a mistrial, but is too safe, predictable and lacks a historical judgment. -- The review was done after watching all eight episodes of the series.3 out of 5 stars to 'Criminal Justice Season 4'

Two women dead, three injured in fall at religious gathering in Madhya Pradesh's Sehore
Two women were killed and three people injured after a number of devotees fell at a religious gathering in Madhya Pradesh's Sehore district on Tuesday (August 5, 2025), police said. According to the police, the incident took place around 12 p.m. at Kubereshwar Dham of religious preacher Pradip Mishra due to overcrowding at the ashram. Mr. Mishra, a popular religious figure, is scheduled to take out a Kanwar Yatra from his ashram on Wednesday (August 6, 2025) and had called upon devotees to join him, resulting in large crowds at the ashram. Sehore Additional Superintendent of Police Sunita Rawat told The Hindu that during the distribution of Rudraksha (prayer beads), a woman in the front of a queue fainted and collapsed, due to which some other people also fell, causing injuries to some. 'There was no stampede but some people in a queue had fallen, leading to the incident,' Ms. Rawat said, adding that two people received minor injuries while one woman is currently critical. The Additional SP said that the victims are yet to be identified. Another senior officer said that about 50,000 to 60,000 devotees have been coming to the ashram every day during the month of Sawan, and that most of them hail from outside Madhya Pradesh. 'The responsibility of arrangements inside the ashram is on the management. The police and the administration had no role there. Outside the ashram, we have deployed over 400 police personnel for security but we have no role inside,' the officer said, requesting anonymity. 'Before reaching the ashram, they had gone to a river stream nearby to collect holy water by travelling 12 kilometres each side, and after that they stood in line amid the heat and humidity. This may have been the reason of the woman's fainting,' he added.

Madhya Pradesh stampede: 2 women crushed at religious event at Kubreshwar Dham; crowd surged during Kanwar Yatra ritual
Bhopal: A religious gathering convened by self-styled godman Pradeep Mishra at Kubreshwar Dham in Sehore turned tragic on Tuesday morning, as a stampede-like situation claimed two lives and left several others injured. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The incident occurred around 10.30 am during a congregation that drew thousands of devotees, many of whom arrived for Mishra's Kanwar Yatra, scheduled for August 6. Mishra also organises rudraksha distribution events—rituals that previously drew large crowds and caused traffic chaos in the region. Thousands of devotees from across the country gathered on Tuesday at the Seewan River ghat and Kubreshwar Dham for pre-yatra rituals, including bhandaras, overnight stays, and temple visits. As the crowd swelled and humidity levels rose, several people reportedly fell ill due to suffocation, panic, and lack of space. Sources said the heavy crowd triggered chaos near the temple complex and rest spots, with several devotees fainting due to heat and overcrowding. In one instance, three people reportedly fell during a sudden crowd surge, and two were crushed in the melee, resulting in their deaths. 'Two women have died, and around half a dozen people sustained injuries. The situation is now under control. More than 200 personnel were deployed, and we have increased the deployment further. Traffic diversions, which were planned for August 6, have already been implemented. Currently, there is a crowd of around 60,000, and the influx is ongoing. A large number of women devotees are present,' SP Sehore Deepak Shukla told TOI. 'Both deceased women were aged above 50 and are residents of Maharashtra. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Their exact identities are being verified. As of now, there is no change in the scheduled Yatra for August 6,' he added. 'As soon as we received the information, officials rushed to the spot. The crowd was dispersed, and the situation was brought under control,' said Shukla. Kubreshwar Dham has witnessed rising footfall in recent years, particularly during rudraksha distribution and yatra events led by Pradeep Mishra, often leading to significant traffic disruptions and logistical challenges in Sehore and adjoining areas. In June 2023, a woman collapsed at the site due to heat and humidity, and in March last year, a tent collapse left several injured, according to sources.
