Wilson Phillips singer Carnie Wilson admits her 'sexy' UNCLE from The Beach Boys gave her 'butterflies'

Daily Mail02-05-2025
Singer Carnie Wilson was taking a walk down memory lane, when she admitted something interesting about a member of her family.
The Hold On singer, 57, whose daughter Lola is launching a singing career, admitted to getting 'butterflies' when she was around her late uncle Dennis Wilson who was with The Beach Boys.
'He was always, like, this mysterious, sexy man, and he was my uncle,' she told Smashing Pumpkins lead singer Billy Corgan, 57, on his The Magnificent Others podcast on Wednesday.
'But like, I'd get butterflies around him,' she said of her time with Dennis who died when she was only 15, 'He's very handsome. He was very sensitive. They all three had big, big talent.'
Carnie is the daughter of Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson, 82, and Dennis, like her father, struggled with drug and alcohol abuse.
He was reported to have been drinking heavily before he jumped from a boat into the cold ocean waters in Marina Del Rey, CA and drowned on December 28, 1983 at age 39, leaving behind a young widow and one-year-old son, Gage, now 42.
The singer was also dad to Jennifer Wilson, 58, Michael Wilson, 54, Carl Wilson, 52, and Scott Wilson from previous marriages and relationships.
The Beach Boys were formed in 1961 and quickly reached fame with their song Surfin' USA.
Their struggles were reported in the 2024 documentary The Beach Boys.
Carnie, who reached her own fame as a singer with sister Wendy Wilson, 55, and childhood friend Chynna Phillips, 57, also praised her uncle Carl, who died from lung cancer in 1998 at age 51.
'Carl was an amazing writer, amazing singer. He really had such a great sound. He was protective,' Carnie said of the Good Vibrations artist.
'Dad just wasn't… We just weren't spending time with him,' she said of Brian, who was very reclusive due to mental health issues and is currently under a conservatorship due to major neurocognitive disorder (such as dementia,) according to court record.
'But then he said to us, "I follow you on the charts every week," so he was watching [from] behind his door. But Carl was like, "You guys just have to keep going."'
Speaking of her late uncle Dennis, Carnie said, 'He was always, like, this mysterious, sexy man, and he was my uncle, but like, I'd get butterflies around him'; Pictured circa 1964

'I miss him very much,' the still grieving niece said of the God Only Knows singer.
'I think about him all the time, and I have pictures around my house and I feel his spirit a lot. And my dad really misses his brothers, like a lot,' she admitted.
Carl provided some backup vocals for Wilson Phillips on their holiday hit Hey Santa. Wilson Phillips are still making music together and will be performing at various venues over the summer.

Coronation Street's Carl set for downfall amid Abi affair after surprise threat

Carl Webster could be set for a major downfall after an unexpected character declared she 'didn't trust him' following a dramatic series of events on Friday night's Corrie episode Carl Webster could be set for a major downfall after Hope Dobbs declared she 'didn't trust' him in Friday night's episode of Coronation Street. Fans of ITV's flagship soap will know that the sacked mechanic, who was introduced earlier this year as the long-lost brother of Street legend Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) has been conducting an affair with his sister-in-law Abi (Sally Carman). ‌ On the latest instalment, things took a dramatic turn when Dorin, the son of Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) and his ex Alina Pop (Ruxandra Porojnicu), was left under the care of Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) when the pair decided to play hide and seek. But Steve fell asleep on the sofa, and he was awoken by a man from the council who had come to collect an old fridge. ‌ Mass panic ensued when Steve failed to find the little one, and residents worried that he had been carried away in the broken appliance. Amid all this, viewers will remember that earlier this week, Hope Dobbs (Isabella Flanagan) had accidentally got a photo that could expose everything. It comes amid spoilers hinting someone may rumble Abi and Carl's affair next week. ‌ As for Hope's photo, it was of Tyrone showing a builder's bum but both Abi and Carl could clearly be seen in the car behind them. Abi had ordered her secret lover to somehow get rid of the evidence. Hope, had had her phone confiscated by Tyrone and Abi called Carl (Jonathan Howard) to tell him where to find it whilst she took the teenager round to Roy's Rolls. Carl went round to number nine, where he found Dorin hiding in the outhouse in the back yard, but chose not to say a thing as everyone else rallied round trying to find him. Instead, he found Hope's phone in the biscuit tin and promptly threw it in the washing up bowl. He fished the now-damaged device out of the soapy water, and was caught immediately my Hope, who had rushed hope to look for her little brother. He fumbled an excuse but it was clear that Hope knew something was up. Minutes later, Carl fetched Dorin from the outhouse and turned onto the Street to hand him back to Tyrone and Fiz, who were convinced that he had been taken off to landfill. Even though all was well, a row later ensued at number nine where Tyrone blasted Steve for taking his eyes off the toddler. Tyrone's long-lost mother Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) told Tyrone: "Have a heart, Ty. How long is it since Amy was that age?" ‌ She had momentarily forgot that, as well as Amy, Steve also had a child called Oliver with Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson), who died when he was the same age Dorin is currently. Carl's face fell as he learned the truth, and quickly apologised. Abi later castigated Carl in the ginnel, having worked out that Carl had stayed silent about Dorin's whereabouts. He protested: "I knew he was fine, what difference does it make? I couldn't have told them two minutes earlier and have everyone see that photograph!" But Abi shot back: "We have gone too far! There were ringing the council, and the police, they were going out of their minds. If that was Alfie and I thought he was dead, and someone could've spared me three seconds of that pain..." before storming off. ‌ Steve, currently partnered up with Cassie has been living with Tyrone and Fiz whilst his divorce with Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) is being finalised. But the whole drama with Dorin prompted Tyrone to tell Steve to pack his bags, and it left him with 'no idea' where to go next. All day, Hope had been excited to go to a gig, having badgered Tyrone for permission all week. But with everything that had happened, Tyrone said it was 'too late' at the last minute. In the end, he joked that it was the silver lining in the whole situation that Hope's unflattering photo of him was gone forever, but Hope, deep in thought suddenly mused: "I don't trust Jack's uncle. I think he did it on purpose." Tyrone replied: "Carl? He literally saved our bacon this afternoon, your brother could've been anywhere... I dread to think." But Hope was not convinced by any of it. Over at the Bistro, Abi forgave Carl for his actions. She told him: "You know I don't want this to end. I want this to go on forever." But with Hope seemingly on the case, and the news that Tracy Barlow is set to wade in on things, it looks as though things could be about to come out a lot sooner than she had planned.

Passion for Carl in Coronation Street hotel meeting - but not with Abi

Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) has recently embarked on an affair with his sister-in-law, Abi Webster (Sally Carman), on Coronation Street. But could his head be about to be turned by another of Weatherfield's women? Since they first met each other by chance in the romantic location of Freshco's car park, Abi and Carl have been fighting an undeniable attraction to each other. When Abi discovered that the attractive man she'd been flirting with was none other than Kevin (Michael Le Vell)'s half-brother, she was shocked. She tried hard to fight her feelings, knowing that Kevin would be devastated if she acted on them. The fact that Kevin was also going through cancer treatment was another factor that made her feel like she could never give in to how she felt about Carl. Kevin got an inkling that there was something brewing between his wife and his brother. In a desperate attempt to stop Abi leaving him, Kevin pretended he was still having cancer treatment even though he'd had the all-clear. It was finding out this lie that finally sent Abi into Carl's arms. Since then, they've been meeting up in secret, with Abi still not ready to break Kevin's heart and break up her family for Carl. To help cover up their affair, in upcoming episodes Carl is flirting with Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) – who has previously made no secret of the fact she fancies him. He lets slip that he's staying in room 101 at the Chariot Square Hotel. Abi is annoyed by this, but Carl reassures her that it was just a cover and they plan to meet later that day in his hotel room. More Trending When Carl gets back to his room later he can't help but smile as he realises Abi got there before him and is in the shower. Anticipating the afternoon ahead, he sees the bathroom door open and a face peers around the door. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? Devastating new scenes confirmed for Debbie in Corrie as an ambulance is called

There's concern for Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) in Coronation Street as she dramatically collapses at number 13 and is rushed to hospital. Debbie was diagnosed with dementia after going to the doctor with symptoms she assumed to be due to the menopause. She'd been becoming increasingly forgetful, mislaying things and missing meetings. Added to this were mood swings and then, most alarmingly, blackouts. The doctor told Debbie that the blackouts were probably due to mini-strokes and warned her that this could happen again, and said that her symptoms were due to dementia. At first Debbie kept her diagnosis a secret. Her brother Kevin (Michael Le Vell) had his own health struggles as he was dealing with cancer and Debbie didn't want to give him more to worry about. She also pushed away long-term partner Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan), feeling she didn't want to be a burden on him. Eventually she opened up about her health to her close friends and family. Insisting she wanted to carry on as normally as possible, she also reconciled with Ronnie and recently proposed to him at Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) and Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove)'s wedding. Things take a turn for the worse in upcoming episodes, however, when Debbie lets herself into Kevin's house to do a spot of cleaning while she thinks Kevin and the family are away on holiday. What she doesn't realise is that Abi (Sally Carman) has faked losing her passport so she can stay behind and spend time with her new lover – Kevin and Debbie's brother, Carl (Jonathan Howard). As Debbie lets herself into the house she's unaware that Carl is upstairs, while Abi has popped out to buy some lager. More Trending It's just as well Carl is there, as it turns out, because Debbie is suddenly overcome by dizziness and collapses. Carl hears the commotion and goes down to investigate, and finds his sister in a bad way. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street?
