The two developments showcase BJP's priorities," he said while inaugurating the party's office-cum-residence in Azamgarh.
He said the BJP was out to humiliate and disrespect the PDA community.
SP has named the new office building as PDA Bhawan.
"This PDA is the same community that Babasaheb (AMbedkar) fought for and is often referred to as Bahujan Samaj. This PDA also stands for the 'peedit' (aggrieved), 'dukhi' (victimised) and apmaanit' (humiliated).
This is our broader social alliance for which we ensure complete social justice," Akhilesh said.
In the political circles, Akhilesh inaugurating the new office building was seen as SP blowing the bugle for the 2027 UP polls, as the SP chief not only set the target for cadre to ensure PDA's victory on all seats from Ghaziabad to Sonbhadra, but went on to announce 300 units free electricity to every family, iPads and Samajwadi pension of Rs 3,000 for women if the party forms next govt in UP.
He also assured termination of Central govt's Agniveer scheme and strengthening of border security.
He outlined how Azamgarh had been a home for SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and sitting MP Dharmendra Yadav and how people of the district and the region have backed the SP in every parliamentary and assembly elections.
Akhilesh recalled how Mulayam Singh had joined hands with BSP founder Kashi Ram when he spotted a supporter carrying a photograph of the two leaders.

"That photo has Netaji (Mulayam) and Kanshi Ram together. Think how significant that time was — when two ideologies stood side by side," he said recalling the coming together of Kanshi Ram and Mulayam Singh in the early 1990s to take on the BJP.
While the event was held peacefully, some Brahmin families in the city installed black flags outside their houses on the call of a Brahmin organisation and Vishwa Hindu Mahasabha to protest against Akhilesh voicing his support to Yadav katha vachaks in Etawah who were allegedly humiliated by some upper caste members for reciting katha – a specialisation till now associated exclusively to the Brahmin community.

Saving The Constitution: Rahul Gandhi As Police Halt INDIA Bloc's EC March

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi linked the INDIA bloc leaders march to Election Commission as a "fight to save the Constitution" and a demanded a "pure" voters list while Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi accused the BJP-led Union governmnt of being "scared". Delhi police on Monday detained Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi and a host of other INDIA bloc leaders as the police foiled their march to Election Commmission to protest over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar and allegations of "vote chori" (vote theft) in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Rahul Gandhi told reporters while being detained, "The reality is that they cannot talk. The truth is in front of the country. This fight is not political. This fight is to save the Constitution. This fight is for One Man, One Vote. We want a clean, pure voters list." Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra told ANI, "Dare hue hai. Sarkaar kaayar hai" (They are scared. The Government is a coward). The other leaders who were detained were Shive Sena Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, and TMC MP Sagarika Ghose. The detained MPs were coralled into a bus to be taken to the Parliament Street police station. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav was seen jumping over barricades as Delhi Police stopped the INDIA bloc MPs from marching to the Election Commission's office The Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister could be seen climbing over the barricades, installed by the police to block the protesting MPs. Akhilesh Yadav jumped to the other side to continue the protest. "They are using the police to stop us," Akhilesh Yadav shouted after crossing the barricades. "We are protesting peacefully. We consider Mahatma Gandhi as our ideal..." Supriya Sule said. Senior INDIA bloc leaders- Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, NCP SCP chief Sharad Pawar also joined the protest. The protest march began from the Makar Dwar of the Parliament under the leadership of Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. The MPs began their march to urge the EC to address their concerns on the alleged "voter theft" The MPs were raising slogans of "vote chor" as they marched towards the office of the poll body at Nirvachan Sadan, before being halted by Police. The Delhi Police said that the MPs did not take permission for the march. BJP leader and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has accused the Congress of misleading the public. "The country can see if there is anyone who is working against the Constitution, it is led by Rahul Gandhi. SIR is not happening for the first time in the country. Congress lies about EVMs, raises the issue of Maharashtra elections, Haryana elections and creates a mountain of lies. It is their well-thought-out strategy to create a state of anarchy I appeal to the Opposition and the Congress party to raise all issues in discussion on Operation Sindoor in Parliament, the Opposition and Congress had no agenda.

Free bus travel in Andhra for girls, women, transgender persons from Aug 15

Amaravati, Aug 11 (PTI) All girls, women, and transgender persons holding Andhra Pradesh domicile are eligible for free bus travel under the 'Stree Shakti' (woman power) scheme, to be launched statewide on August 15, Principal Secretary (Transport, Roads & Buildings) Kantilal Dande said on Monday. 'Beneficiaries include all girls, women, and transgender persons with domicile status in Andhra Pradesh, subject to presenting valid identity proof," Dande said in a government order. The scheme will be implemented using the existing fleet of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), with additional buses to be procured based on demand, he added. Free travel will apply only to Pallevelugu, Ultra Pallevelugu, City Ordinary, Metro Express, and Express services. It will not cover non-stop services, interstate operations, contract carriages, chartered services, or package tours. Saptagiri Express, Ultra Deluxe, Super Luxury, Star Liner, and all air-conditioned services are also excluded, he said. For passenger safety, the government is considering equipping staff with body-worn cameras and installing CCTV cameras in all buses. Bus stations will see upgraded amenities such as fans, chairs, drinking water, and toilets. Dande said the procurement of electric buses and extending the scheme to them could also be considered, subject to Cabinet approval. Free bus travel for women was a poll promise of the TDP-led NDA government ahead of the 2024 elections. The scheme is estimated to cost Rs 1,942 crore annually—about Rs 162 crore a month—and aims to empower women by improving access to education, jobs, and mobility, Minister K Parthasarathy had earlier said.
