These full-time residential courses will be offered in the new Jigani campus – a newly established School of Multidisciplinary Studies. IIM has designed these courses in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP). Initially, the plan is to intake 20 students per program which makes for admissions of 80 students in total. However, the plan is to grow the student intake to 640 by 2031. Candidates must have cleared Class 12(or equivalent) from a recognized board.
Candidates must have studied Maths in Class 12 and should have scored minimum 60%.
Candidates must have also scored atleast 60% (overall) in Class 10.
Candidates will have to go through a National test and then an interview to get selected.
Additionally, the programme fee for both courses is RFs. 8.5 Lakhs per annum.
The curriculum of these two courses will integrate Economics, data science, philosophy, communication, and ethics will be integrated in the curriculum of both these courses, with a special IIM flavor of business education. They aim to establish a strong application-based orientation of all subjects in real life. Additionally, the highlights of the programmes include two internship cycles; an international exchange term offering; a curriculum grounded in context sensitivity, individual transformation, and life competencies; and the option for a three-year exit with a degree. According to the official statement, these undergraduate programmes are designed to offer a distinctive blend of broad exposure and deep expertise.

MU issues physical marks cards to graduates
Mangaluru: Mangalore University has fulfilled the long-pending demand for physical marks cards for candidates who graduated under the National Education Policy-2020, where marks cards were issued digitally. PL Dharma, vice-chancellor, and H Devendrappa, registrar (evaluation), said that after obtaining special permission from the higher education department and with the support of UT Khader, speaker of assembly, the university has met the demand for issuing physical marks cards. This announcement was made during the first general academic council meeting held on Friday. Dharma stated that marks cards were already sent to the respective colleges. A total of 13,517 marks cards for undergraduate students out of over 18,000 candidates were printed and issued. In the postgraduate section, a total of 1,637 marks cards were printed and issued. "Close to 5,000 undergraduate marks cards have not been issued due to errors in the data. We are trying to rectify this and issue them at the earliest. The data received from UUCMS contains errors," said Dharma, adding that the university is not charging for the issuance of mark cards. The issuance of physical marks cards will bring much-needed relief to graduates who faced inconvenience due to the digitally issued ones. Dharma mentioned that many graduates complained as they were unable to secure jobs or pursue higher education abroad. During the meeting, the revised syllabus of various courses, autonomous status for Mahatma Gandhi College, Udupi, revised sitting fees, travel allowances, and other allowances for syndicate members and officials were discussed. The cash-strapped university has increased the syndicate member sitting fee from Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000. Internal probe under progress for Belapu Mangalore University allegedly diverted about Rs 8.5 crore funds sanctioned for the development of the PG centre in Belapu in Udupi district. Instead of utilising the funds for the project, the university used them for an international hostel and other activities, violating the govt order. Dharma said that an internal inquiry in this regard is in progress. One report has already been submitted. "We still need at least Rs 12 crore to complete the Belapu project and have already spent about Rs 38.3 crore. We have planned to start unique courses, including one related to marine and coastal security," he said.

Meghalaya: Aspiring entrepreneurs trained in Jaintia Hills pottery craft
Shillong, Jul 18 (PTI) Thirty aspiring entrepreneurs from Meghalaya's Jaintia Hills were trained in traditional Larnai pottery as part of a seven-day skill development programme aimed at preserving indigenous knowledge and promoting rural livelihoods, officials said. Organised by the Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Community and Skill Development Centre (DDUCC), Wahiajer, a constituent college of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), the programme titled 'Application of Indigenous Knowledge in Pottery Making' was held from July 12 to 18 at the DDUCC community hall. Renowned artisan Roilin Pyrtuh from Larnai village, known for its centuries-old pottery tradition, led the training. Larnai, located in West Jaintia Hills, is famous for its distinctive black pottery, crafted entirely by hand without the use of a potter's wheel. The process includes traditional clay preparation, shaping, open-firing, and finishing techniques that have been passed down through generations. Pyrtuh learned the craft from her mother, continuing a multi-generational family legacy. Her family stands among the few still exclusively practising traditional techniques without mechanisation, crafting one-of-a-kind pottery entirely by hand. The sessions focused on equipping them with livelihood skills while promoting cultural preservation and sustainable entrepreneurship. The valedictory function held on July 18 was graced by NEHU pro vice-chancellor Prof. S. Umdor as chief guest, and Lukas Jat, member of Wahiajer village, as guest of honour. Also in attendance were Dr. FR Sumer, principal in-charge, DDUCC; Latu Nartiang, branch manager of Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank, Ummulong; faculty, students, and community members. Umdor commended the DDUCC team for promoting indigenous trades and encouraged participants to tap into opportunities in local markets and tourism. He noted that the initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which integrates vocational education with academic learning. Mangalore University resumes issuing hard copies of marks cards to final semester students
Mangalore University has resumed issuing hard copies of marks cards to its final semester students, according to the Vice-Chancellor, P.L. Dharma. He informed the Academic Council meeting on Friday that the consolidated marks card issued to a student upon completion of the three-year degree course (six semesters) includes marks from all six semesters. The university stopped issuing semester-wise hard copies of marks cards since the first batch of the new National Education Policy (NEP) batch of students joined the degree courses from the academic year 2021-22. It was in accordance with a direction from the State government. It was also based on the national policy related to the education sector, which mandated making the mark cards available to students only through Digilocker. Mr. Dharma said that the government had asked the universities to stop printing marks cards. But students demanded hard copies, saying that they were required for employment purposes. Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader held a meeting with the Minister for Higher Education, M.C. Sudhakar, and senior officials of the Higher Education Department. The meeting resolved to issue a consolidated hard copy of the marks card once a student completes the sixth semester. Following this, the Syndicate of the university in its meeting on March 12, 2025 resolved to issue physical marks card in the interest of students, the Vice-Chancellor said. Later Mr. Dharma told press that students will not get hard copies of marks cards of other semesters (1, 2, 3, 4, 5). Like earlier they will be made available only through Digilocker. The registrar (Evaluation), H. Devendrappa, said that the university recently dispatched 13,570 hard copies of consolidated mark cards to undergraduate students who graduated in 2023-24. Another 5,000 mark cards could not be sent due to profile-related issues. In addition, the varsity issued 1,637 marks cards to post-graduate students. Mr. Devendrappa said that the undergraduate examinations of the academic year 2024-25 were held from June 9 to July 15. The ongoing post graduate examinations of the same academic year will get over on July 27. The results of the final semesters will be announced first. Academic year 2025-26 Mr. Dharma said that the academic year 2025-26 for undergraduate students is likely to begin from the first week of August, and for post-graduate students, it is likely to begin from the second week of August. The government is insisting on a common calendar of events for all State universities.
