Paul George Doesn't Hold Back on Caitlin Clark's Trash Talk originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has become one of the biggest names in basketball over the past few years. She's known not just for her deep logo threes but also for her willingness to speak her mind, whether it's talking to the refs or trash-talking other players.

Through the first four games of this season, that's been evident, as she's averaging 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 9.3 assists.
In a recent game against the Atlanta Dream, Clark had a moment with guard Rhyne Howard, telling her, "I'm not scared of you," after the two got into it.
NBA star Paul George discussed Clark's game on his podcast, "Podcast P with Paul George", and touched on her trash talk. He was honest, saying he loves her and thinks "she's great for the game of basketball."
"Not only is her game talking (expletive), but she's out there talking (expletive)," George said. "Like, she's backing it up... I love her too, man. I think she's great for the game of basketball in general, bro."
George also spoke about how Clark was basically handed the face of the WNBA and "there's going to be girls that think she's got to earn it."

"You gotta put it in perspective, right?" George said. "These girls have been grinding to grow the game of basketball in the WNBA. They've been grinding to grow the sport to the world of viewerships. They've been grinding for all of this.
"And then you have this girl that comes along from college and is an instant change. She's handed pretty much being the face of the league. There's going to be girls that are offended by that. And there's going to be girls that think she's got to earn it. And she doesn't deserve this early."

Despite how other players feel about the attention Clark has gotten, George thinks "she's handled it great" and is the rightful face of the WNBA."

"She's handled it great. I think she's performed last year," George stated. "She's performing again this year. I think she's the rightful face of the WNBA. Up there with A'ja Wilson, with Napheesa, with still some of the legends, Breanna Stewart, Kelsey Plum, the new up-and-coming rising star, bunky Paige Beckers."
The attention surrounding Clark didn't come out of nowhere. In her rookie WNBA season, she was an All-Star, named to the All-WNBA First Team, won Rookie of the Year, and led the league in assists.

Paul George Doesn't Hold Back About Duke's Cooper Flagg Before NBA Draft

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The 2025 NBA Draft is right around the corner. While the NBA Finals between the Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder are set to begin on Thursday, the draft is coming up quickly and will be held on June 25. Duke star Cooper Flagg is ready to be the No. 1 overall pick and get his career underway. Flagg has been the projected No. 1 pick for at least a year now. He did not disappoint the hype in his freshman season with the Blue Devils. In the 2025 NBA Draft lottery, the Dallas Mavericks made the shocking leap up to the No. 1 overall pick. They had a 1.8 percent chance of doing so in the lottery, but Nico Harrison was given a major gift and stroke of luck after trading away Luka Doncic last season. Photo byWith the draft coming up quickly, a lot of opinions have been given about Flagg's future in the league. Most recently, Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George spoke out with a strong opinion about the Duke standout. Read more: Lakers' LeBron James Set to Make Major NBA History Next Season On a recent episode of his show, "Podcast P," George did not hold back from predicting a very bright future for the young forward. "I think he's going to be an All-Star. When it's all said and done, I think he's going to go down as one of the best players our league has seen," George said. "He's got that talent." During the 2024-25 college basketball season with the Blue Devils, Flagg put together big numbers. He played in 37 games, averaging 19.2 points per game to go along with 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 1.4 steals. In addition, he shot 48.1 percent from the floor and 38.5 percent from the three-point line. What kind of player could Flagg become at the NBA level? There have been many comparisons made for him. ESPN has shared what they think the "ceiling comp" could be for Flagg. They have that comparison listed as Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard. One Western Conference scout spoke out on the potential comparison. Read more: Knicks Urged to Pursue Shocking Offseason Roster Move "[Flagg]'s really good defensively and can be a game changer on that end pretty much immediately with his size, effort and IQ," the scout said. "He's always been a very good defender and the offense is coming along. It's a very similar path to the one Kawhi was on early in his NBA career, as a guy who had all these really useful qualities, and then entered as a real two-way force as he rounded out his game." Only time will tell the future for Flagg. However, he has elite potential and George clearly believes in him. Fans won't have to wait much longer to get their first look at the Duke star. It seems likely that the Mavericks will be taking Flagg, which will put him in a great place to get off to a strong start in the NBA. For more NBA news, head over to Newsweek Sports.

Furious Denny Hamlin Rips Team for ‘Unacceptable' Issue at Nashville

Furious Denny Hamlin Rips Team for 'Unacceptable' Issue at Nashville originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Denny Hamlin had a strong car at Nashville Superspeedway, running up front for much of the race around the 1.33-mile track, including leading the second-most laps at 79, only behind eventual race winner Ryan Blaney's 139. Advertisement The No. 11 started on the outside of Row 1 and stayed near the front, winning the first stage and finishing third in the second. He finished third. All of it was even more impressive when you consider in the humid conditions the air that normally circulates through his helmet wasn't doing so because the hose had become detached. It happened twice. And on that second time in the third stage with just under 100 laps to go, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver didn't hesitate in showing his displeasure about the situation. Denny Hamlin makes a pit stop at Nashville Nelles / The Tennessean / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images 'I lost my [expletive] helmet hose again,' he said over the team radio. 'Gotta get the interior of our car right. [Expletive] unacceptable!' Advertisement 'Copy,' his crew chief responded. After the race, and having cooled down physically and mentally, the 44-year-old spoke about the adversity he had to overcome with the malfunctioning helmet. 'That's three elements that the other driver's had I didn't have,' he said referring to also not having any water or a cool suit like many drivers employ. 'So yeah, I got hot. I had to Carson Hocevar the helmet visor up there to try to get a little air in." The No. 11 team has a chance at redemption next Sunday at Michigan. Race coverage begins at 2 p.m. ET on Prime. NBA legend gives thoughts on potential Sixers prospect Ace Bailey

The Philadelphia 76ers can go in plenty of directions with the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NBA draft. After a miserable 2024-25 season, the Sixers were granted with a top 3 pick as they look to bounce back from what was an injury-riddled season. A popular target for the Sixers at No. 3 has been Rutgers star Ace Bailey. He has popped up in a lot of mock drafts and has been the guy a lot of experts expect to go No. 3 after Duke's Cooper Flagg and Bailey's teammate at Rutgers, Dylan Harper. Bailey has received a mixture of reviews in NBA circles as executives are not sure what to make of him, but he has two big voices in his corner as Sixers star Paul George has sung his praises, and now NBA legend Carmelo Anthony has some praise for him. Anthony stated on "Podcast P with Paul George": I (expletive) love Ace. His skill set and his will to get to his spot and his will to, like, work on certain (expletive). Like he's relentless working on, like, spots on the court. Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle It remains to be seen what the Sixers will do with that No. 3 overall pick, or if Bailey will even become the player that many believe he can, but it's obvious that he has a ton of potential and the Sixers appear to be the team targeting the young man out of Rutgers.
