New-look Kaizer Chiefs: All 18 confirmed deals

Kaizer Chiefs have been as busy with squad cuts as they are with player recruitments.
Kaizer Chiefs have released EIGHT players.
Meanwhile, Amakhosi have been spotted with 10 new players in their squad. Therefore, these 18 men will usher in the new era of football at Chiefs with a new captain set to lead them.
Chiefs have signed Nkanyiso Shinga, Flavio Silva, Ethan Chislett, Paseko Mako, Thabiso Monyane and Siphesihle Ndlovu. Furthermore, Thulani Mabaso, Naledi Hlongwane, Kabelo Nkgwesa and Manqoba Ozoemena have all been promoted.
'Also coming in has been Siphesihle Ndlovu, Ethan Chislett, Nkanyiso Shinga, Thabiso Monyane, and Paseka Mako while Thulani Mabaso, Naledi Hlongwane, Kabelo Nkgwesa, and Manqoba Ozoemena are some of those promoted,' the insider stated on KickOff .
Thus, bringing the total of new faces at Chiefs to 10 – that's almost a whole new starting XI worth of players. Interestingly, Chiefs are far from done with their transfer business.
There are more players on Amakhosi and Nasreddine Nabi's radar. Currently, Chiefs are closing in on Asenali Velebayi and Luke Baartmen from Cape Town Spurs.
Meanwhile, they are still in the market for another striker and goalkeeper.
Chiefs have released Ranga Chivaviro, Sabelo Radebe, Njabulo Blom, Edmilson Dove, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Yusuf Maart, Tebogo Potsane and Bongani Sam so far.
However, as mentioned, they are not done with squad changes yet.
Fiacre Ntwari and Edson Castillo are both facing likely exits out of Naturena. Ntwari was dropped by Nasreddine Nabi halfway through the 2024/25 PSL season. Bruce Bvuma and Brendan Peterson were rotated throughout the second half of the season. Finally, Castillo has reportedly already left Chiefs.

UPDATED schoolboy First XV rugby rankings after thrilling Paarl derby

The 'unofficial' ranking of South Africa's top schoolboy rugby sides was settled at the Faure Street Stadium in Paarl on Saturday when Paal Boys' High upset hosts Paarl Gimnasium 35-33 in a match that will long live in the memory bank. Any attempt at ranking South Africa's First XV rugby schools is guaranteed to upset as many readers as it will please. The simple fact of the matter is that there is NO possible way of accurately determining a definitive list. Many lists are to be found floating around the internet – none of which are in fact 'official'. While it's true that thanks to an increase in the number of schoolboy rugby festivals around the country more schools are playing schools they previously wouldn't have faced, no school plays every other school both home and away during the season. Hence, every list should be taken with a pinch of salt and is subjective at best. Having said that, here is the unofficial 'official' First XV Top 20 rankings list after the weekend's matches: Ranking School Province 1 Paarl Boys' High Western Cape 2 Paarl Gimnasium Western Cape 3 Grey College Free State 4 Affies Gauteng 5 Oakdale Western Cape 6 Paul Roos Western Cape 7 DHS KwaZulu-Natal 8 Helpmekaar Gauteng 9 Garsfontein Gauteng 10 Noordheuwel Gauteng 12 Stellenberg Western Cape 12 Rondebosch Western Cape 13 Wynberg Western Cape 14 Outeniqua Western Cape 15 Westville KwaZulu-Natal 16 Northwood KwaZulu-Natal 17 Hilton College KwaZulu-Natal 18 Grey High School Eastern Cape 19 Jeppe Gauteng 20 KES Gauteng Milnerton 36-42 Bishops Oakdale 21-17 Paul Roos Outeniqua 45-13 Worcester Gim Paarl Gimnasium 33-35 Paarl Boys' High Parel Vallei 18-52 Wynberg Rondebosch 34-19 HTS Drostdy SACS 43-25 Brackefell Stellenberg 18-10 Boland Landbou Dale College 10-17 Graeme College Grey High School 15-46 Grey College Marlow 24-26 Pearson Stirling 5-33 Hudson Park Glenwood 53-10 Parktown Maritzburg College 27-31 Pretoria Boys High Northwood 5-38 DHS Helpmekaar 38-22 Rustenburg Jeppe 39-31 KES Menlopark 39-35 Monument Noordheuwel 28-22 Garsfontein Waterkloof 19-64 Affies NOTE: More results will be added as they become available Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1 Subscribe to The South African website's newsletters and follow us on WhatsApp, Facebook, X and Bluesky for the latest news.

Orlando Pirates 2-0 Polokwane City: FIVE things we learned

Orlando Pirates kicked off their 2025/26 season with a comprehensive victory over Polokwane City on Saturday afternoon. Goals from Oswin Appollis and Patrick Maswanganyi were enough to seal a 2-0 win for the Buccaneers and seal their spot in the MTN8 semi-finals. Having signed 11 new players, Abdeslam Ouaddou started the match with three new signings and all of them impressed on the day. The Soweto giants are aiming to win their fourth consecutive MTN8, having won four of the previous five editions. Abdeslam Ouaddou looks in control The Moroccan coach took over from Jose Riveiro in July and there were questions on whether he would take the team to the next level. In his first official match in charge, the former TS Galaxy coach looked calm and in control. He selected a strong and balanced team, leaving out the likes of Deano van Rooyen, Evidence Makgopa and Makhehlene Makhaula on the bench. Oswin Appollis is already feeling at home It took the Bafana Bafana winger under 20 minutes to find his first goal for Orlando Pirates. The 23-year-old attacker is regarded as the best signing this transfer window and in the 60 minutes he played, he showed why he is valued highly in the PSL. Relebohile Mofokeng is not at his best Mofokeng didn't end the 2024/25 season on a high, having dipped in form towards the end. He looked sharp in pre-season, however against Rise and Shine, he often disappeared. He has been linked to various teams in recent weeks and perhaps his mind is already elsewhere. New coach loves youngsters Just like Riveiro, Ouaddou appears to be a fan of introducing youngsters in big games. Late into the match, the Orlando Pirates coach subbed in Cemran Dansin. The 20-year-old made his debut in the final 10 minutes and looked very positive whenever he had the ball at his feet. The Pirates defence was not tested The partnership of Mbekezile Mbokazi and Nkosinathi Sibisi was not tested on Saturday. Both looked very comfortable in possession and dealt with long balls with ease. Polokwane City didn't attack much and when they did, they lacked creativity or combinations, allowing Orlando Pirates to clear any danger. Orlando Pirates crush Polokwane to secure MTN8 semi-final spot

Orlando Pirates kicked off the 2025/2026 season in style by cruising to a 2-0 victory over Polokwane City in the MTN8 quarter-finals at a buzzing Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Abdeslam Ouaddou, leading the Buccaneers for the first time, made bold choices with his starting line-up, fielding Bandile Shandu at right-back, Boitumelo Radiopane in attack, and handing three new signings their debuts in midfield. Sihle Nduli, Sipho Mbule, and Oswin Appollis. The tactical gamble paid off immediately. Oswin Appollis, fresh from a surprise off-season switch from Polokwane, punished his former side with a composed finish in the 14th minute. The move that led to the opener showcased quick interplay between Mbule, Nduli, and Radiopane, before Appollis coolly slotted past Brian Mwire to send the home fans into early celebrations. Just past the half-hour mark, Appollis again made headlines, this time by winning a penalty after being brought down in the area. Patrick 'Tito' Maswanganyi calmly converted from the spot to double the lead and ignited scenes of joy. Ouaddou's charges controlled the match with authority, allowing Polokwane only fleeting chances on the counter, all of which the Pirates defence managed well. In the second half, Appollis continued to torment his former teammates but eventually left the field with cramps. Tshepang Moremi replaced him, also making his debut. He joined fellow debutants Yanela Mbuthuma and Abdoulaye Mariko in a second-half showing that underlined Pirates' squad depth. With this convincing win, Orlando Pirates advanced to the MTN8 semi-finals. The draw for the next round will take place soon, with the ties set to be played over two legs. As seven players, including the coach, marked their official debuts, the signs are clear. Ouaddou's Orlando Pirates are not here to play it safe. They've come to dominate.
