Rajinikanth Marks 50 Years In Films, PM Modi Extends Wishes: ‘Iconic Journey'
"Congratulations to Thiru Rajinikanth Ji on completing 50 glorious years in the world of cinema. In response to PM Modi's special message, the 'Coolie' star expressed his gratitude.

Earlier, the actor received a string of greetings and congratulatory messages from his friends and superstars from the film industry, including Kamal Haasan, Mammootty, and Mohanlal. Rajinikanth thanked his colleagues, friends, and fans for their support, while also sending a special thanks to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and other state political leaders.
Amid the celebrations, Rajinikanth has made a blockbuster return to theatres with the release of his film, 'Coolie' on August 14.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film also featured Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan. Bollywood star Aamir Khan is seen in a special character named 'Dahaa' in the movie.

The total earnings will be revised later in the evening, once the figures for the night show are declared. Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, and starring Rajinikanth had yet another excellent day at the India box office, grossing Rs 47-48 crore. These are excellent numbers but the trend is slightly worrisome. The movie opened to collections of Rs 75.50 crore, added Rs 63.50 crore on day 2 (Independence Day holiday) and is likely putting up Rs 47.50 crore on day 3, taking the 3 day cume to Rs 186.50 crore. Going by how it is doing, the Sunday collections are going to drop down to around Rs 40 crore, giving the movie a weekend of a little over Rs 225 crore.
