Was there money-printing machine in Majithia's home: Aman Arora
Punjab AAP president Aman Arora Thursday said that justice for Punjab's three crore citizens, particularly families who have lost their children to the drug menace, has begun.
Speaking to the media, he said the vigilance FIR exposes significant financial irregularities involving Bikram Singh Majithia, revealing Rs 540 crore in unaccounted funds deposited into his companies. Of this, Rs 161 crore was deposited into accounts without proper documentation or accountability, while Rs 141 crore was funnelled through fake shell companies in violation of national laws. The investigation uncovers that these illicit funds were used to amass properties worth several hundred crores, raising questions about the source of this wealth and its links to unlawful activities.
Arora said that the unaccounted money was funnelled into businesses through shell companies. 'Was there a money-printing machine in Majithia's residence? Where did this wealth come from?' he questioned.
The FIR highlights a concerning pattern of financial manipulation beginning in 2007, marked by the incorporation of several companies under suspicious circumstances. Significantly, four companies were set up on a single day, April 9, 2009, with one more incorporated in January 2009 and another in July 2009.
Additionally, six subsidiaries were created under these primary companies, suggesting a deliberate effort to establish a complex web of entities. This coordinated activity raises serious doubts about the legitimacy of these businesses and their potential role in laundering illicit funds.
Arora questioned how Majithia's businesses grew exponentially within such a short span. He noted, 'These aren't the actions of legitimate business growth but a reflection of drug money being laundered into the economy.'
Arora criticised opposition parties for their apparent support of Majithia, accusing them of complicity in Punjab's drug crisis. He questioned former CM Charanjit Singh Channi's FIR against Majithia in 2021, suggesting it might have been a mere election gimmick with no real intent for justice.
Arora highlighted the BJP's interference in the 2014 ED investigation against Majithia, noting that the then deputy director of ED, Niranjan Singh, who was leading the probe, was abruptly transferred. 'This deliberate move stalled progress and shielded Majithia from accountability,' Arora stated, emphasising the BJP's role in derailing justice.
Furthermore, he called out the Akali Dal for betraying Sikh values, asserting that their tenure enabled the rampant drug trade that devastated countless lives in Punjab.

Delhi Chief Minister Flags Off New DEVI Electric Buses, Inaugurates Narela Depot
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday flagged off 105 new orange-coloured DEVI (Delhi EV Inter-connector) electric buses and inaugurated the newly built Sector A9 depot in Narela, calling it a step towards cleaner and more efficient public transport for the capital. Ms Gupta said the depot was completed in just 90 days and claimed it reflects the BJP government's commitment to deliver on promises made to Delhi residents. She also attacked the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, accusing it of pushing Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) into losses and fostering a corrupt system. "Buses are Delhi's lifeline. But under the previous government, routes were cut, buses reduced, and corruption seeped in," she said. Referring to the CAG report, Gupta claimed that DTC had incurred losses amounting to Rs 65,000 crore during the earlier regime. She alleged that even the free bus ride scheme for women was marred by corruption and panic buttons were installed "just for show". Highlighting features of the new nine-metre-long electric buses, Gupta said they are equipped with air conditioning, panic buttons, and real-time monitoring systems. "When we removed paper tickets and moved to cards, AAP spread lies that women would no longer travel for free. But the move was only to curb corruption," she said. Meanwhile, Delhi Transport Minister Pankaj Singh, who was present at the event, said the previous government denied people their right to better buses. "These buses should have arrived by last monsoon, but the former government failed to deliver. Today, the BJP is fulfilling that promise," he said. He said that earlier DEVI buses were green in colour, and this is the first time an entire fleet of orange-coloured buses has been introduced. This adds more vibrancy, and we will continue increasing their numbers, as we have been doing since the launch of the DEVI buses. Delhi BJP leader Yogender Chandolia dismissed AAP's claim that this was just a rebranding exercise. "If these were AAP's buses, they would have been on the roads months ago. These are new buses, purchased and brought in under the BJP. AAP never procured small electric buses - they reused old ones," he said. Chandolia said the new compact DEVI buses, with seating for 23 and standing space for 17 passengers, are ideal for navigating Delhi's narrow lanes and will benefit people. "This is the real Rekha Gupta Model - "clean, modern, and efficient public transport," he added. Currently, Delhi operates around 2,000 electric buses, and officials said the number will continue to rise, with a goal of achieving 100 per cent electrification of the bus fleet by 2027.

Gangster Manjit Mahal's nephew shot dead in Delhi's Bawana; police say fallout of a gang war
A 30-year-old man was killed and his seven-year-old daughter was injured when unidentified men shot at them in Delhi's Bawana area while they were out on a morning walk Friday. The man has been identified as Deepak, and sources in the Delhi Police said they suspect the shooters could be linked to the gang of Kapil Sangwan, who is also known as Nandu, as the deceased is the nephew of jailed mafia don Manjeet Mahal, the Nandu gang's longtime rival. According to senior police officers, the shooting took place at around 7.30 am when Deepak was walking with his daughter. Deepak died on the spot, and his daughter sustained injuries to her hand. She has been treated and is out of danger. Deepak's body has been sent for post-mortem examination, the police said. Meanwhile, the crime and forensics teams have reached the spot where the shooting took place, and are analysing the bullet shells. Mahal and London-based Sangwan have been in each other's crosshairs even before he fled to the United Kingdom. The Delhi Police say the rivalry between the gangs originated out of a money lending dispute in 2015, when Mahal's associate allegedly gunned down Sangwan's brother-in-law over a pending loan. Sangwan then launched a full-scale gang war against Mahal, now jailed, and orchestrated the killing of his father in 2017. The gang war between the two has claimed a dozen lives over the years, police sources said. In April 2025, a businessman was murdered in Delhi's Paschim Vihar area, with the Nandu gang claiming responsibility on social media as they suspected he was working for Mahal. In 2023, Sangwan allegedly ordered the killing of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader for his proximity with Mahal, a police officer said. A red corner notice has also been issued against Sangwan.

Karnataka Congress lodges complaint against BJP social media post equating ex-PM Indira Gandhi with Hitler
Karnataka Congress general secretary S Manohar on Wednesday, June 25, filed a police complaint against the BJP social media account that posted a satirical video portraying former prime minister Indira Gandhi as Adolf Hitler to mark the 50th year of the Emergency. The Karnataka BJP's June 25 post on X featured an AI-generated video that equated Gandhi to German dictator Adolf Hitler with a caption that said 'INDIRA is not equal to INDIA, while INDIRA is equal to HITLER'. INDIRA = INDIA❌INDIRA = HITLER ✅ — BJP Karnataka (@BJP4Karnataka) June 26, 2025 'Indira Gandhi's photo has been graphically altered in a hateful manner, and the former Prime Minister has been addressed in a derogatory manner, which could cause unrest in society and create enmity between religions and communities. Therefore, it is requested that appropriate legal action be taken against the said Twitter/X account,' stated the FIR filed on June 25. The High Grounds police in Bengaluru have filed a case of provocation and public mischief under Sections 192 and 353 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Reacting to the FIR, state BJP chief B Y Vijayendra has said that the former PM's actions during the period of Emergency were comparable to those of Hitler. 'There is no question of being afraid of Siddaramaiah's (Karnataka CM's) FIR and threats on social media tweets. Let a hundred such FIRs be registered. Our workers are ready to face it,' he said. The Emergency was imposed on June 25, 1975, by the then prime minister Indira Gandhi and lasted for 21 months. The period saw the suspension of civil liberties, curtailment of press freedom, mass arrests, the cancellation of elections, and rule by decree and was considered one of the darkest chapters in the history of the Indian republic.
