Within just a month of its theatrical release, James Gunn announced that David Corenswet's Superman will be available on OTT platforms. The film was released on Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at Home on August 15, over a month after it premiered in theatres, and is available for rent and purchase. For those who are set to watch the film from the comfort of their homes, there is a special surprise.
A new 60-minute documentary, titled Adventures in Making Superman, will give fans a glimpse into what went on behind the scenes of the blockbuster superhero film. To give a peek into what to expect from the special release, James Gunn, who is also the co-head of DC, posted a nearly seven-minute-long clip on his Instagram account on Friday.
The clip featured the filming of the movie's emotional climax when Superman gives Lex Luthor a speech on his flaws and humanity. It opened with James and the crew alongside the lead actor, gearing up to shoot the scene. Initially, David was seen giving his speech, telling Lex, played by Nicholas Hoult, the exact things that were written in the script. But then, at one point, he explained to the director that he couldn't connect to the lines and wasn't feeling the exact intensity of the lines.
James tried to explain the situation to him, but the actor remained unconvinced. That's when he decided to meet the director and have a one-on-one conversation. Despite being the writer and director of Superman, James was open to discussing the actor's perspective on the lines. David, at one point, also said that being in the theatre has taught him to question everything, which sometimes pisses people off. But that wasn't the case with James.

He patiently listened to David and then explained what the situation and the emotional speech meant for Superman. After this explanation, the actor was convinced, and he shot the scene exactly as James wanted. In the video, the latter even said, 'I love David. One of my favourite actors I have worked with. He is wonderful."

Sharing the video, James Gunn wrote, 'This was one of my favourite moments on the set of #Superman and was freaked out (and so happy) to find out it had been filmed. This and many other moments were captured in 'Adventures in Making Superman," a 60-minute making-of feature showcasing intimate behind-the-scenes of the movie will be available starting today for consumers who purchase Superman digitally at home on participating platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Fandango at Home, and others."
What's Superman's Box Office Collection?
Superman, the first film in DC's revamped universe, has received a positive response from the viewers. According to Box Office Mojo by IMDb, it has grossed $586 million worldwide and $335 million at the domestic box office. It also features Rachel Brosnahan, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, and Isabela Merced.
