Mumbai Metro Red Line: How will Mumbai Metro-9 connect to BKC, Andheri and Colaba? How will Dahisar link Mira-Bhayander to south Mumbai? When will it be ready?
Mumbai Metro Line 9: Metro is easing Mumbai's travel — one prime example of that is the Metro Line 9, the double-decker red line extension from Dahisar to Mira-Bhayander.
What is the route? Will it be connected to other Metro lines? How much time will it save? When will it be ready? How will it connect to BKC, Andheri & Colaba? How will it connect to Metro Line 7 at Dahisar East, which in turn connects to Line 2A and others? Explained.
Line 9 spans approximately 13.58 km: 11.386 km elevated and 2.195 km underground, as part of the Red Line connected to Metro Lines 7 and 7A.
It serves 10 stations:
Dahisar East
Pandurang Wadi
Miragaon (Amar Palace)
Kashigaon (Zankar Company) (Thane district)
It connects to Metro 7 (Dahisar East to Andheri East), Metro 2A (Dahisar West to DN Nagar), with future extensions connecting to Metro 3 (Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ underground) This network effect makes commutes faster even for people not directly on Line 9, by enabling multi-line routes without road traffic delays.
Mumbai Metro-9: What is the cost?
The combined project cost for Lines 7A and 9 is approximately Rs 6,607 crore, including taxes and escalation
How much work has been done on Mumbai Metro-9?
As of mid 2025: 96-97% of civil work has been completed (elevated viaducts, girder and station construction)
System integration (electrical, signalling): 75% complete
Trial runs underway on the Phase 1 stretch (Dahisar East-Kashigaon) (4.4 km) with energisation completed in May 2025
When is Mumbai Metro-9 expected to be launched?
Phase 1 (Dahisar–Kashigaon) expected to open by end of 2025
Full line (to Mira-Bhayandar) projected by late 2026
Mumbai Metro-9: Rolling stock and capacity
Will operates 8-coach trains (shared fleet across Red Line system), with capacity of 2,352 passengers/train
Ridership projection: 11.12 lakh/day by 2031 (for Line 9 and 7A combined)
What will be Mumbai Metro-9 timings?
Operating hours likely to be 6 AM to 10 PM

How will Mumbai Metro-9 save time?
It will reduce travel time by 50-75% depending on road traffic, especially along the congested Western Express Highway, and diminishes load on Western Railway suburban services. Take a look at this: Current road travel from Mira Bhayandar to Western Express Highway (WEH) often takes 60-90 minutes during peak hours due to congestion. Metro Line 9 is expected to reduce this to 25–30 minutes.
Smooth interchange at Dahisar East enables quick access to Andheri, Bandra, and south Mumbai. Mira Road to Andheri (currently 1.5 hours by road) may take under 50 minutes using Metro 9-7-2A.
Enhance connectivity for residents of Mira Road, Mira-Bhayandar, and Dahisar
Offer reliable transit for office workers commuting into central and western Mumbai
Decrease road traffic and pollution in the north-western suburban corridor
Provides faster express connectivity from Mira-Bhayandar suburbs to Andheri and jet corridors
Beneficial for directors and professionals commuting between north-west suburbs and business districts.
Where will Metro 9 connect to other Metros?
Metro Line 7: Dahisar East
Metro Line 2A: Dahisar East
Metro Line 10 (future): Miragaon
Metro Line 7A / Line 9: Integrated as red line
Metro Line 13 (planned): Extension to Vasai-Virar
Seamless transfers planned with shared concourse levels at Dahisar East and Miragaon for easy interchange.
How can officegoers reach BKC, Worli and eventually Colaba?
This is how the travel would look like:
Route 1: Take Metro 9 to reach Dahisar East, from there take Metro-7 and get off at Gundavli. Change over to Metro-1's (Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar) Western Express Highway station. It is a five-minute walk between Metro 7 and Metro-1 through a 58-metre foot overbridge, so plan accordingly. Using Metro-1, travel towards Ghatkopar and get off at Marol Naka. Change over to the underground Metro-3 which will take you to BKC or further to Worli and Colaba once the phase is ready.
Route 2: Take Metro-9 to reach Metro-2A from Borivali West side and get off at Andheri West. Change over to Metro-1's DN Nagar station. Using Metro-1, travel towards Ghatkopar and get off at Marol Naka. Change over to the underground Metro-3 and head to BKC or further to Worli.

Air India cancels Milan-Delhi flight due to maintenance issue

Agency: Mumbai, Aug 17 (PTI) Tata Group-owned private carrier Air India on Sunday said it cancelled its Milan-Delhi flight of August 16 after detecting a maintenance issue at the last minute. Alternative arrangements are being made to fly the passengers to their destination at the earliest, Air India said in a statement. 'Flight AI138 operating from Milan to Delhi on August 16 was cancelled due to a maintenance task identified during pushback," the statement said. 'Our ground team in Milan extended immediate assistance to all the affected passengers, providing hotel accommodation and offering full refunds on cancellation or complimentary rescheduling as opted by the passengers," it said. According to Air India, along with the maintenance issue, the operating crew of the flight come under the mandatory flight duty-time limitation norms. Air India generally operates its Boeing 787-8/9 aircraft fleet to cater to European destinations. The airline, which came under private hands in January 2022, has, of late, been delaying, cancelling some flights at the last minute due to technical and maintenance issues. This is despite airline CEO and Managing Director Campbell Wilson repeatedly claiming that Air India has carried out comprehensive checks on its Boeing 787 aircraft fleet. A Delhi-bound Air India flight from Bhubaneswar was cancelled just prior to its departure on August 3 due to high cabin temperature. On July 31, an Air India Boeing 787-9 aircraft flying to London had to abort take-off at Delhi airport and return to the bay due to a technical issue. In a message to the customers recently, while listing out the various steps taken after the fatal crash of an AI-171 flight to London soon after take-off from the Ahmedabad airport, Wilson said detailed inspections of its Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft were done and 'no issues were found during inspection". Nayara trying to get UCO Bank to bypass EU Sanctions against Russian Petro Transactions

Mumbai, Aug 16 (UNI) Mumbai-headquartered crude petroleum refiner Nayara Energy Ltd, which is part-owned by Russian energy company Rosneft PJSC, is in talks with union finance ministry officials to process payments for Russian crude oil imports, bypassing sanctions by the European Union (EU), according to market sources. Nayara executives are working on a plan to get government-owned UCO Bank to process payments for imported Russian crude, since the bank had facilitated similar oil trades with Iran in 2018, sources said. Nayara Energy Ltd is partly owned by Russian energy giant Rosneft PJSC and it has spoken to union finance ministry officials to get UCO Bank on board. Rosneft PJSC owns a little over 49 per cent of Nayara, while a 49 per cent stake is held by a consortium led by Kesani Enterprises Company and the rest of the shares are held by Indian retail investors. The company would like UCO Bank to finance and wire payments for Russian crude oil imports and help it receive payments for refined fuel products which are exported from India. Nayara has been finding banks reluctant to provide even basic services after the company was sanctioned by the European Union in July and UCO Bank which has very less exposure to global financial markets would be to mitigate the risk of secondary sanctions. Nayara also expects its troubles to increase after President Donald Trump's threat to impose a 25 per cent tariff and additional penalties over India's imports of Russian crude petroleum after Russia attacked Ukraine in 2022, which allowed Indian refiners to benefit from discounted Russian crude. Nayara has loaded at least two clean-petroleum product (CPP) cargoes after it was sanctioned by the European Union last month and the company plans to continue its Russian oil imports and refining operations in India. Most foreign banks have stopped dealing with Nayara, forcing the company to deal through Indian banks, after western sanctions were imposed on Russia and Rosneft, which owns about 49 per cent of Nayara. While refiners are cautious about sanctions, India and Russia had set up alternatives to western insurance, finance and maritime services in order to conduct their trade in the recent past. Indian refiners buy Russian crude on a delivered basis with insurance comprising cargo insurance, Protection and Indemnity insurance, besides hull and machinery insurance, arranged by Russian entities. India also accepts Russian insurance. Earlier, India had devised a mechanism to settle trade with foreign nations in rupee terms through vostro accounts of foreign banks in India. Russia's Gazprombank had opened a special vostro account with UCO Bank and Russian entities like VTB Bank and SberBank had opened accounts with their own India-based branch offices in the past. The RBI had also introduced a mechanism for international trade settlements in rupees. UNI XC BM
