Miley Cyrus shares hidden battle that almost stopped her Grammys performance
Miley Cyrus has opened up about the post-pandemic anxiety battle which left her afraid to perform in public and even led to her almost missing out on the Grammys, where she won two gongs.
Singer Miley Cyrus has revealed that she suffered with anxiety following the Covid-19 pandemic, admitting she was worried about getting back out in public after being locked away for so long.
While the pop star may appear to be oozing with confidence from the outside, she shared in a new interview that lockdown took it's toll on her sense of self and even left her questioning whether to go to the 2024 Grammy's, where she was awarded the coveted Record of the Year gong for her acclaimed album Flowers and the Best Pop Solo Award.
Explaining that she went to the award show for 'healing', Miley told The Zane Lowe Show: "I wasn't going to go to the Grammys. I wasn't going to perform at the Grammys for sure because as everybody was post-pandemic, I was struggling with a lot of anxiety.
"And going from being locked down for a couple of years to being on the stage in front of Oprah just felt like shocking to every part of my nervous system. And so I almost didn't do that.
"And I started doing shows at the Chateau Marmont that were intimate and you know, all hand-chosen by me, and I had a celebration with the closest people in my life to celebrate the nomination of the Grammys."
She continued, "But it was just so bittersweet because I felt like the whole night I was making excuses for why I wasn't going to go. One, it was, I was afraid, and there was fear. But I also don't think I wanted to ever look at how much it would mean to me to win."
The rare interview comes as Miley recently cleared up rumours she was in a family feud with her mum, Tish, assuring that the pair are tighter than ever.
Rumours began to swirl after Tish reportedly seemingly unfollowed her daughter on Instagram, but clearing things up, the latter put it down to a technical error.
"I rarely comment on rumours, but my mama and I are too tight for anything to ever come between us. She's my best friend. Like a lot of moms, she doesn't know how to work her phone and somehow unfollowed me - simple, coincidental and uninteresting," said Miley on Instagram.
Tish echoed this sentiment, explaining: "I didn't. Idk what happened lol. I have no idea how that happened but it's fixed now [pink heart emoji]."

Danny Dyer fights tears as he enjoys emotional first dance with daughter Dani
Former Love Island star Dani Dyer has tied the knot with her love Jarrod Bowen - and her famous dad Danny was there to give her away before the father-daughter duo enjoyed the first dance Dani Dyer shared a very special first dance with her famous dad before his speech as the father of the bride at the weekend. EastEnders star Danny walked his daughter Dani, 28, down the aisle so she could marry footballer Jarrod Bowen. White rose petals lined the aisle, with floral sculptures and candles creating a stunning backdrop which the bride and groom shared a kiss in front of. And after Dani, wearing a designer Suzanne Neville dress, and Jarrod said 'I do', cheeky Danny then couldn't resist bringing a bit of football into proceedings. With mic in hand on videos shared on social media, he can be heard urging the guests to sing "Bowen's On Fire - and he's married Dani Dyer ' to the tune of pop star Gala's hit Freed from Desire. Dani has now quickly changed her surname to Dyer-Bowen on Instagram, and is thrilled with how her big day went. On her Instagram, Dani said, "The most perfect, special day," alongside a video of herself getting married. A purpose-built glass marquee had been erected in the Buckinghamshire countryside for the event, although the ceremony itself took place outside to make the most of the sunny weather. After the couple cut a giant white cake, a band could be seen in the background poised to begin, so everyone could get the party started with some dancing. Around 60 people are said to have attended the ceremony, which is in keeping with the down-to-earth couple who have a small circle of close friends as well as family to invite. The video of the day appeared to show Dani's having a first dance with both her dad Danny and Jarrod before other guests joined them on the dancefloor. In a behind-the-scenes wedding reel shared to Instagram, Danny looked as though he could cry as he embraced daughter Dani on the dance floor. In the background of the video, a rendition of Ray Charles' song Georgia On My Mind could be heard playing. After a late night partying with a live band, guests could help themselves to take away pizzas. The boxes were specially made for the day and said 'D&J that's amore' on them. In the lead up to the wedding, Danny said: 'I have met every single boyfriend that has walked through my door - and then she brings home the West Ham captain. I have gone from the lying scum, and I hate them, to a man who I would not mind tonguing myself! A strong man. If he lent in I would put my lips on this geezer. 'He is just, as a father and joking aside, he took her on with a 14 month old son and that says a lot about a man I will tell you. He is amazing. I can't wait to give her away. What a touch. But if he was to make a move on me before… "I think I'm in love with him, slightly. He's an incredible person. I just want someone to love my daughters the way I do. I want them to worship them and look after them. Let me tell you that. I love him.' Jarrod joined West Ham in 2020 and has regularly been the best player on the pitch, including when he scored the winning goal to give West Ham their first trophy in 43 years during the 2023 Europa Conference League final.

Gary Lineker attends son's wedding days after quitting job - and Wayne was there
Gary Lineker was seen looking suave and happy at his son's wedding over the weekend. The presenter, 64, enjoyed his son's milestone moment after a tumultuous couple of weeks after he was let go from the BBC over comments he made about Palestine. His son George, 33, took to Instagram on Monday to share some special moments from the huge family celebration - which also included Gary's estranged brother Wayne. George posted a sweet snap of himself and his famous dad beaming alongside one another as they posed after Harry and his new wife said their 'I do's'. The England star turned pundit was due to present coverage for the Beeb until the end of this season before bowing out. However, Gary will now be exiting earlier than initially intended after sharing a pro-Palestine video about the Gaza conflict on social media. The clip in question, which shows Canadian-Palestinian lawyer Diana Buddu criticising Israel's actions in Gaza, includes a controversial cartoon rat emoji, a symbol associated with antisemitic tropes. Following an outcry, Gary released a statement on Monday (May 19), apologising for the offence caused and emphasising that he would "never consciously repost anything anti-Semitic". The 64-year-old also revealed he would be stepping back from his high-profile presenting position after two eventful decades, leaving longtime viewers to wonder what's next for the legendary striker. In his statement, Leicester-born Gary told fans: "I care deeply about the game, and about the work I've done with the BBC over many years. As I've said, I'd never consciously repost anything anti-Semitic - it goes against everything I stand for. However, I recognise the error and upset that I caused, and reiterate how sorry I am. Stepping back now feels like the responsible course of action." BBC Director-General Tim Davie has also issued the following statement: "Gary has acknowledged the mistake he made. Accordingly, we have agreed he will step back from further presenting after this season. Gary has been a defining voice in football coverage for the BBC for over two decades. "His passion and knowledge have shaped our sports journalism and earned him the respect of sports fans across the UK and beyond. We want to thank him for the contribution he has made."

More info Lorraine Kelly has revealed she's taking a break from her ITV show for an "amazing new project" leaving fans eager for her return. The beloved 65-year-old Scottish presenter took to Instagram to announce her one-week hiatus as she ventures up north for a project. In her Instagram video, Lorraine excitedly wrote: "BIG FILMING ADVENTURES! ! ! ! Heading to the very far north - it's going to be amazing - see you in a week's time!" She told her 581,000: "Hi there! I'm in the land of the midnight sun. It's absolutely glorious. It's a project that I have wanted to do for years and years and finally it is actually happening. "I'm heading really, really far North. It is going to be amazing and I will tell you all about it when I am back. I'm back a week tomorrow (Monday) and I will see you then. Wish me luck." (Image: Getty) This announcement follows reports that Lorraine was less than impressed with an alleged proposal from ITV. It's been suggested that chiefs proposed integrating her self-titled programme with Good Morning Britain, an idea she reportedly declined. The supposed offer would have seen Lorraine hosting the breakfast segment for half an hour each day, similar to the temporary format used during the COVID-19 crisis, which insiders have described as an "easy fix," reports the Express. Sources close to the presenter, now 65, allegedly revealed that she felt "insulted" by the proposal and declined it. Substantial shifts at ITV have had a significant impact on Lorraine, with the programme being reduced to airing 30 weeks a year and the episode length cut from one hour to just 30 minutes. One insider shared: "Lorraine was not happy about what is happening and also had concern for the production team which will be cut back too. "But the truth is she has to roll her sleeves up and work harder on her own show than she has in recent years, otherwise the long-term future does not look good." Lorraine is on ITV1 weekdays at 9am and ITVX
