Arsenal transfers: Bayern Munich give up on Leandro Trossard and eye team-mate instead
Bayern Munich could turn their attention to Gabriel Martinelli with the chances of a deal to bring his Arsenal team-mate, Leandro Trossard, to Germany now looking slim.
The German giants are among the clubs who have been linked with Trossard, 30, in recent weeks with the Belgium international now in the final year of his contract at The Emirates. But it has now emerged that such a move is unlikely, with Trossard said to be in the sights of Fenerbahce.
Bayern remain in the market for a new wide forward, though, and it has now been claimed another Arsenal player has emerged as a target in Martinelli.
The Athletic claim that the Brazil international, 24, is once again of interest to Bayern as his current club search for a new left winger.
Martinelli currently has two years remaining on his current deal and there have been suggestions that Arsenal may need to sanction a big-money sale to offset their own planned spending spree.
The Gunners are pursuing a £70million deal for Viktor Gyokeres with a £50m swoop for Noni Madueke also close to completion.
Those deals, plus a proposed swoop for Valencia's Cristhian Mosquera, would see their spending break the £200m barrier. And with Crystal Palace 's Eberechi Eze also of interest, outgoings are likely, even if Arsenal are unlikely to actually want to sell a player of Martinelli's calibre.
Bayern also hold an interest in Luis Diaz of Liverpool, who have already rejected a £58m bid from the German champions for their winger.
Said offer was both received and rebuffed on Tuesday, with Liverpool having no interest in selling Diaz. However, the Colombia international is understood to have made it clear that he would like to leave Anfield this summer.
Diaz was heavily linked with Barcelona earlier as well as Bayern earlier in the summer. They have since tried - and failed - in a bid to land Nico Williams from Athletic Club.
Bayern are short in the left wing position following the departure of Leroy Sane, who signed for Galatasaray earlier this summer.

Leah Williamson has described Arsenal teammate Stina Blackstenius as an 'incredibly powerful footballer' as the pair prepare to go head-to-head in the Euro 2025 quarter-final between England and Sweden. As a centre-back, Williamson will be directly up against her club colleague, but she is wary of pinpointing Blackstenius's threat alone. 'When you have a team who work for each other like Sweden, then you don't need to necessarily have a crazy standout threat because everyone plays their roles,' she said. 'They are hard to prepare for in that sense. The discipline for them all to complete their jobs on the pitch makes them a dangerous side.' Williamson's focus in this tournament is staying present, replicating her mantra of the 2022 Euros. 'I want to enjoy it and spend time with my teammates,' she said. 'It's a great environment and I love being around them all. Beth Mead was laughing at me the other day because I did the day in the life of her, which meant I didn't go back to my room and I was very sociable. By the end of the day I slept good. 'I said to her: 'I don't know how you do this every day,' and she said: 'This is my every day'. I said: 'Yes, it's crazy to me, I'm not that type of person'. But it's little things like that, just trying to be around more. In 2022 I slept most of the time that I wasn't on a pitch so yes, a bit different this time.' Arsenal 's teenage sensation Ethan Nwaneri is reportedly close to signing a new a long-term contract, amid uncertainty surrounding his future. The 18-year-old enjoyed a fine breakout campaign for the Gunners last season as he scored nine goals in 37 appearances across all competitions. However, there has been speculation that Nwaneri could leave Mikel Arteta 's side, with his existing deal set to expire next summer. This has only been fuelled by the impending arrival of Noni Madueke from Chelsea, as well as Arsenal's strong interest in Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze - both of whom Nwaneri may find himself competing for position with. Nevertheless, the Hale End graduate appears determined to fight for his place at Arsenal, with contract talks gathering pace as Nwaneri signals his commitment to his boyhood club. A former Arsenal star whom Mikel Arteta sold for £21million could make a surprise transfer back to the Premier League, according to reports. After a slow start to the summer transfer window, the Gunners have kicked into gear as they look to plug the gaps in Mikel Arteta's squad ahead of the new Premier League season. Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Christian Norgaard have all arrived, while deals for Cristhian Mosquera and Noni Madueke are both nearing completion. Another side who have enjoyed a productive start to the window is Sunderland as they prepare for their first season back in the top flight since 2017. Joining Arsenal in 2017, Xhaka racked up 297 appearances in all competitions during his seven seasons in north London. The 32-year-old was made captain by Unai Emery in September 2019, but was stripped of the armband just months later after an angry confrontation with fans. Despite winning back some fans in the following years, Xhaka eventually left the Emirates in 2023 to join Leverkusen, admitting he cried 'tears of joy' when the deal was completed.
