Adolescence actor Ashley Walters says he 'found peace' on 'quiet' electric motorbike
Ashley Walters, the actor famed for his roles in gripping dramas like Netflix's Top Boy and Adolescence, seeks serenity away from the camera. At 42, he finds solace on his silent electric motorcycle, a Maeving model crafted by a British manufacturer in Coventry, as he navigates the serpentine roads.
His choice of transport is ideal for those craving the adrenaline rush of speed without the accompanying exhaust and din of conventional bikes.
"I'm riding for peace in the moment," the actor, who earned the title of GQ's Man of the Year, explains. "Pretty much everything I do is about trying to find peace." Ashley, a Peckham native, equates his passion for motorcycling with his love for acting – both are means to immerse himself fully. Despite his South London roots, he yearns for the tranquillity that lies beyond the city's clamour.
"When I'm not working, I don't really want to be around people," he admits with a smile, chatting from a café in Herne Bay during a break from shooting a new short film in collaboration with Maeving. He continues: "I just get on the bike and ride. I don't know where I'm going, I don't know what I'm doing. I just ride and get myself back to where I need to be."
His preferred mode of transport is the RM1S by Maeving, an electric motorcycle that has no gears, no noise, and zero emissions. This makes for a smooth, eco-friendly ride that also benefits Walters' mental wellbeing, the Mirror reports. Ashley said: "It reminds me of skydiving. After free-falling when the parachute opens-it's just quiet, it's just you, and you really feel like you're flying."

The RM1S model, priced from £7,495, offers an 80-mile range on a single charge and can reach speeds of up to 70mph. The bike comes with a two-year warranty and a 14-day money-back guarantee. Maeving's motorcycles demonstrate how petrol enthusiasts can still experience the thrill of the open road while embracing zero-emission transportation. In urban areas, an electric motorbike provides a convenient and enjoyable means of travel, with the added pleasure of letting loose in rural settings.
Currently, Maeving offers two different electric bikes: the RM1S, which Walters rides, and the RM1, starting at £4,995. Both models feature a removable battery that can be charged using a standard three-pin socket, and they combine style and functionality with a retro aesthetic and modern, environmentally friendly technology. Electric vehicles are gaining popularity across the UK, with more charging points becoming available and initiatives like London's ULEZ encouraging motorists to opt for greener options.
Motorcycle enthusiasts keen to join the green space have a range of electric options, including the Harley Davidson Livewire Electric Motorcycles. The S2 Alpinista model, starting at £17,390, has a 0-60mph acceleration in just three seconds and maintains the cool aesthetic synonymous with Harley's petrol bikes. Kawasaki is also on board with sustainable riding, offering the Ninja e-1 for £4,299. This zero-emission bike features a striking lime green and silver design, removable batteries, and an e-boost function for an extra burst of speed lasting 15 seconds.

Maeving has received positive feedback from customers on Trustpilot. One rider shared their experience: "I have a 32-mile commute to work, and it's a joy to ride this bike. I never write reviews, (but) I needed to do this as found everything faultless, it's just pleasant to have such good customer service."
Another commented on the RMS1 model's quality: "The bike seems good quality so far. The ride and seat are less comfortable than my mountain bike but, to be fair, the RMS1 goes a lot faster uphill. I suspect it will last well but obviously too early to tell."
However, they highlighted a concern on velocity: "The speedometer is optimistic, to say the least. The highest speed setting ('S') will get you to around 60mph consistently, maybe even 65 if the conditions are good, but it drains the battery a lot faster than the lower settings."

The This Morning presenter shared her thoughts in a social media post, garnering reactions from her fans. At the age of 50, Alison, who has a 20-year-old son named Aidan Hammond from a previous relationship, took to Instagram to quash any idea that she was pregnant. The ex-Big Brother contestant and current partner to 27-year-old David Putman firmly denied pregnancy rumours in her update. Her statement read: "Lots of AI stories online about me being pregnant, I can confirm I am not having a baby as I'm not sure my 50-year-old womb could take it. However, I do think we should all dance like Meghan." Alison's post follows after Meghan Markle, aged 43, shared a joyous video dancing with Prince Harry, now 40, in anticipation of their daughter Princess Lilibet's arrival, who is four years old, back in 2021. The video was released in celebration of Lilibet's birthday just this past week. In the midst of these speculations, Alison comically mimicked Meghan, capturing herself dancing in her lounge to Baby Mama, the tune featured in Meghan's footage, thus humorously refuting the speculation regarding her own pregnancy, reports the Mirror. She further emphasised her point by sharing the clip to her Instagram Story with an overlay stating "fake news", adding in the caption for good measure: "I am not pregnant." Meghan originally posted on Wednesday as a tribute to her youngest, Lilibet, on her fourth birthday. Her celebratory video depicted her dancing jubilantly beside a bed in a maternity wing, with Prince Harry by her side. Her accompanying caption read: "Four years ago today, this also happened. Both of our children were a week past their due dates... so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn't work, there was only one thing left to do."

Psychological thriller labelled a ‘masterpiece' free to stream on BBC iPlayer
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video A 'masterpiece' psychological thriller is making its way to BBC iPlayer. Released in 2021, The Power of the Dog stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Jesse Plemons, and Kirsten Dunst and is based on the 1967 novel of the same name by Thomas Savage. The film follows wealthy ranching brothers Phil (Cumberbatch) and George Burbank (Plemons) who meet widow Rose (Dunst) and her son Peter (Kodi Smit-McPhee) during a cattle drive. The volatile and brash Phil takes a dislike to Rose, but George strikes up a relationship with her – which eventually leads them to marry – and Rose and Peter to move to the Burbank ranch house. As Phil taunts Rose, he appears to take Peter under his wing, but his intentions don't seem as clear-cut to Rose. For those who didn't catch the award-winning hit, or just want to rewatch, it is now free to stream on BBC iPlayer, as well as Netflix. The Power of the Dog proved an instant hit following its premiere at the 2021 Venice Film Festival, garnering a whopping 12 Oscar nominations and seven Golden Globe nods. It is often cited as one of the best films of 2021, and indeed of the decade as a whole, and was named one of the best films of 2021 by the American Film Institute. It currently holds a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the critics' consensus reading: 'Brought to life by a stellar ensemble led by Benedict Cumberbatch, The Power of the Dog reaffirms writer-director Jane Campion as one of her generation's finest filmmakers.' Metro critic Tori Brazier dubbed the film a 'taut and emotional epic' in her review, adding: 'A rich and detailed character study for each of its excellent four leads – and especially Cumberbatch and Smit-McPhee, who is an admirable scene partner – The Power of the Dog brings everything you'd expect, and hope for, from the writer and director of The Piano. 'The film is like watching a play, so focused is it on the minutiae of seemingly small human actions and emotions, and so nuanced in its storytelling.' The New York Times wrote: 'The Power of the Dog builds tremendous force, gaining its momentum through the harmonious discord of its performances, the nervous rhythms of Jonny Greenwood's score and the grandeur of its visuals.' More Trending USA Today lauded The Power of the Dog a 'picturesque, enthralling exploration of male ego and toxic masculinity, crafted by an extremely talented woman and offering enough nuanced bite to keep it interesting till the very end.' InSession Film said: 'Much has already been said about Jane Campion's western masterpiece, and for good reason. It is indeed truly great. Benedict Cumberbatch gives a career-best performance.' Heaping praise on Cumberbatch, with Ty Burr writing on his Substack: 'How do we know Benedict Cumberbatch is a serious thespian? Because we have no idea who he is offscreen. He's just entirely the role he's playing at any given moment, and those roles change radically.' The Power of the Dog is streaming on BBC iPlayer and Netflix Got a story?
