Pedro Pascal Helps Emma Stone As She Fights a Bee at Cannes 2025

Yahoo19-05-2025
At the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, a bee stole the spotlight, and Emma Stone had to take the help of her co-stars, Pedro Pascal and Austin Butler, to save the day. The unexpected red carpet incident happened during the premiere of Eddington, Ari Aster's upcoming film, which brought a star-studded cast to the event.
A routine photo op turned into a hilarious showdown at Cannes 2025 when a bee decided to join the Eddington cast on the red carpet. Videos from the event show Pedro Pascal spotting the insect first, blowing air towards it to shoo it away. Emma Stone immediately noticed his reaction and mouthed, 'Is that a bee?'
When Pascal confirmed her suspicions, Stone alerted Butler, who tried to help by blowing the bee away, only to accidentally redirect it toward her. The Poor Things actress dramatically ducked as the bee swooped near her face, prompting Pascal to laugh while shielding her. Butler then joined in, waving the insect away until it finally buzzed off.
The viral moment led to endless memes and edits online. One user dubbed it ''Emma Stone vs The Bee' a short film.' While another wrote, 'Oh my god i LOVE this picture Emma Stone trying to back off from flying at her bee Pedro Pascal wheezing at the scene and Austin Butler just there serving jawline and side profile.'
The incident added a touch of levity to the otherwise intense premiere of Eddington, a Western film set in pandemic-era New Mexico. The film stars Joaquin Phoenix as a small-town sheriff and Pascal as a mayor caught in a tense community standoff. Stone and Butler also play key roles in the film, which explores the psychological unraveling of a town during lockdown.

Emma Stone and Nicolas Ghesquière's Real-Life Friendship Takes Center Stage in Vogue's September Issue

What better time to try something larger than life than the September issue? For Nicolas Ghesquière, that meant creating a miniature Louis Vuitton collection of couture-like caliber, exclusively for Vogue. And who better to wear these one-of-a-kind garments than our cover star, and the designer's longtime friend, Emma Stone? 'Whatever he does is special and surprising and exquisite,' Grace Coddington, the shoot's fashion editor, says of Ghesquière, 'but this was somewhat on another level because it was couture, which is something he hasn't tried before.' While Ghesquière worked closely with Vogue to bring the looks to life for Stone's Avignon shoot, the looks came, as Coddington puts it, from 'him and a dream.' Ghesquière created six distinct, handcrafted looks for Stone's cover shoot—six different characters for her to embody. 'Who will this be?' asks Stone, dressed in a beaded, high-neck dress with draped, wing-like sleeves. 'The idea was to imagine she was a charismatic leader of a ballet academy,' Ghesquière says of the dress, aptly dubbed 'The Ballerina.' 'She is a great dancer,' he adds of Stone, 'I wanted to express that in the movement.' Also among the duo's roster of characters: 'The Driver,' a leather jumpsuit meant for boundary-breakers, which Stone wore to galivant on the roof of the Palais des Papes; 'The Innocent,' a knit jumpsuit with tiers of ruffles, represents Stone's open-hearted approach to acting, namely her Oscar-winning role as Bella in in Poor Things; 'The Host' a black playsuit with a sculptural sweetheart bust, casts the actor as the host of an imaginary cabaret, inspired by Ghesquière and Stone's real-life friendship. For the pair, the shoot is a full-circle moment, another chapter in their long history. 'The things that he's designed took me through my wedding day, took me through big moments in my life,' Stone says of her long friendship with Ghesquière. 'It feels like I always get to have a piece of him with me.' Watch on as we go behind the scenes of Emma Stone's September cover shoot. Why Emma Stone got emotional before shaving her head for new film

Hair today, gone tomorrow. Emma Stone underwent a dramatic transformation for her latest film "Bugonia," for which she shaved her head on camera. In her September issue cover story interview with Vogue published on Aug. 11, the two-time Oscar winner, 36, raved about the haircut and said there is "no better feeling in the world." She added, "The first shower when you've shaved your head? Oh my God, it's amazing." Still, Stone told Vogue she burst into tears before filming the scene where she shaved her head because she was thinking about her mom, who lost her hair while battling breast cancer. "She actually did something brave," Stone said. "I'm just shaving my head." According to the actress, her mother's reaction to her "Bugonia" look was to say, "I'm so jealous. I want to shave my head again." According to Vogue, a scene in "Bugonia" involves Stone's character, a pharmaceutical CEO who is held hostage, having her head shaved by her kidnappers. Her friend Jennifer Lawrence joked to Vogue that she "really didn't want her to shave her head" after having "already lived through the Billie Jean King haircut," referring to Stone's look for the 2017 tennis drama "Battle of the Sexes." But "she looked beautiful" and "pulled it off," Lawrence noted. Stone previously sparked rumors that she had shaved her head after attending the New York Film Festival in 2024 wearing what appeared to be a wig. She later debuted a pixie cut at January's Golden Globe Awards. Stone told Vogue her hair has been growing back "pretty slowly for how long it's been." She won her second best actress Oscar for her performance in "Poor Things" and earned a best supporting actress nomination for "The Favourite." In "Bugonia," "two conspiracy obsessed young men kidnap the high-powered CEO of a major company, convinced that she is an alien intent on destroying planet Earth," according to the studio's plot synopsis. The movie is set to premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, where future Oscar contenders are often screened. "There's nothing I feel luckier about," she told the outlet. "She's the greatest gift of my life, for sure." Stone continued that motherhood "changes everything" and "simplifies everything" by making her consider whether a job is worth spending time away from her child. "I feel everything I could possibly feel, because everything has exploded," she shared. Stone previously gave a sweet shoutout to her daughter in her acceptance speech after her Oscar win for "Poor Things" in 2024. "Most importantly, my daughter, who's going to be 3 in three days and has turned our lives Technicolor," she said. "I love you bigger than the whole sky, my girl."
