
Police hunt machete-wielding duo after failed shop robbery in Hulu Selangor
KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 — Police are tracking down two individuals suspected of attempting an armed robbery at a shop in Hulu Selangor in the early hours of June 18.
Hulu Selangor acting police chief DSP Mohd Asri Mohd Yunus said the suspects' actions were captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV), and the victim lodged a police report at 6.42am the same day.
He said CCTV footage of the attempted robbery has since gone viral on social media.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects, dressed in black, wearing caps and face masks, and armed with machetes, tried to attack the victim using the weapon after allegedly entering the premises through the back door.
'The victim managed to scream for help, which caused the suspects to panic and flee the scene without taking anything,' he said in a statement yesterday.
Mohd Asri said efforts were underway to track down the two suspects, believed to be local men, and the case is being investigated under Section 393 of the Penal Code for attempted robbery.

Cops probe woman, 70, for driving on motorbike lane at Penang second bridge

PETALING JAYA : Police are investigating a 70-year-old woman for allegedly driving on the motorcycle lane of the Penang second bridge. Seberang Perai Selatan police chief Jay January Siowou said a video of the incident, showing a Proton X50 using the motorcycle lane of the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge, had made its rounds on social media. He said a preliminary investigation found that the footage was captured at Km8.6 of the bridge, heading towards the island, at about 1.30pm on June 20. 'Police managed to track down the driver and had taken her to a police station for further investigation,' Jay said in a statement yesterday. The case is being investigated for the offence of using an unauthorised lane.

Two friends die after car crashes into tree in Klebang
MELAKA, June 22 — Two friends were killed when the car they were travelling in skidded and crashed into a tree on the road divider along Jalan Persisiran Pantai Klebang here early this morning. Melaka Tengah police chief ACP Christopher Patit said the incident occurred at around 6.45am and the victims were identified as the driver of the Proton Wira, Muhammad Nur Zamani Mohd Nazery, 28, and his passenger, Muhammad Haziq, 25. 'Initial investigations found that the car, driven by Muhammad Nur Zamani, was travelling from Melaka town towards Bukit Rambai via Jalan Persisiran Pantai Klebang. Upon reaching the scene, the vehicle is believed to have skidded, struck a road cone, spun out of control, and crashed into a tree on the road divider,' he said in a statement today. 'As a result of the accident, both victims sustained severe injuries to the head, body, and arms, and were pronounced dead at the scene.' He added that the bodies have been sent to Melaka Hospital for post-mortem, while the vehicle has been taken to the Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre (PUSPAKOM) for further assessment. Meanwhile, Melaka Tengah Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Operations Commander, Senior Fire Officer I Mohd Zahery Mohd Zailani, said they received an emergency call at 6.51am and arrived at the scene nine minutes later. 'Upon arrival, we found the driver trapped inside the vehicle, while his friend had been thrown out of the car,' he said. He added that the situation was brought under control by 7.18am, with eight personnel involved in the rescue operation. — Bernama
