Snap will launch its AR glasses called Specs next year, and these will be commercially available

GSM Arena11-06-2025
Snap Inc. unveiled its fifth-generation AR glasses, called Spectacles 5, last September, but they were only available to developers who signed up for the $99/month developer program. The good news is that this won't be the case with Snap's next AR glasses, which are set to launch in 2026.
This revelation came from Snap during the ongoing Augmented World Expo (AWE) 2025 in Long Beach, California, in the US, where the company also announced that its next AR glasses, which will be available to the public, will be called "Specs."
'We believe the time is right for a revolution in computing that naturally integrates our digital experiences with the physical world, and we can't wait to publicly launch our new Specs next year,' said Evan Spiegel, co-founder and CEO of Snap Inc. Spectacles 5
Spiegel also claimed that Specs, which will be Snap's first commercially available AR glasses, "are the most advanced personal computer in the world."
While Snap didn't delve into the details of the Specs, it said these AR glasses feature "see-through Lenses that enhance the physical world with digital experience." Furthermore, the company revealed that it has spent more than $3 billion on AR glasses over the past 11 years.
In addition to revealing the launch timeframe of Specs, Snap announced updates to Snap OS, including deep integrations with OpenAI and Gemini on Google Cloud. Moreover, the company launched new tools for developers building location-based experiences. It includes the Fleet Management app, Guided Mode, and Guided Navigation.
That's not it. Snap also announced that WebXR support in the browser is coming soon, and it is partnering with Niantic Spatial to bring its Visual Positioning System to Lens Studio and Specs to build an AI-powered map of the world.

Redmi 15 5G in for review

Prasad, 13 August 2025 Today, we are taking a look at the new Redmi 15 5G from Xiaomi. This is the latest budget smartphone in the company's long-running numbered Redmi series and while we can't reveal all the details yet, we can show what the device looks like and talk about some of its features. Starting with the design, the back of the phone looks rather familiar as we have seen similar designs in the past from Oppo and Vivo. There's a rectangular camera island to the top left with three circular elements stacked vertically on the left. In case of the Redmi 15 5G, the camera island is made out of aluminum. Also seen on the back is the icy pattern on the Frosted White variant that we have today. The phone also comes in two other colors, Midnight Black and Sandy Purple, where the former has a plain black look while the latter mimics the appearance of sand dunes. On the front is the 6.9-inch FHD+ LCD with a refresh rate that goes up to 144Hz. There are sizable bezels all-around, but that is to be expected in this segment. The Redmi 15 5G's claim to fame is its large 7000mAh battery. Xiaomi claims this is the only silicon-carbon battery in the segment and that it retains 80% of its life even after 4+ years of use. The phone can also be used as a power bank as it offers 18W reverse wired charging. Meanwhile, the phone itself offers 33W fast charging with a matching charger provided in the box. The Redmi 15 5G is running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset and will come with the company's HyperOS 2 installed. Xiaomi promises two years of OS updates and four years of security updates. Other features include a 50MP camera at the back, IP64 ingress protection, and Dolby-certified audio. The Redmi 15 5G will be launched on August 19, and we will have more details to share then.

OnePlus 15 to be very, very black

Vlad, 12 August 2025 The OnePlus 15 has already been rumored to go through a significant redesign compared to its predecessor, with the big round camera island being replaced with a rectangular one that will be left-aligned at the top of its rear. But that's not all. Apparently, OnePlus is testing a "SuperBlack" colorway, which will be the blackest black we've ever seen on a smartphone, so black in fact that it will resemble a black hole. According to tipsters who have seen the prototype, it's "far better looking than imagined", for what it's worth. OnePlus 13 The OnePlus 15's 6.78-inch display will get a resolution downgrade to "1.5K", but might boast a higher refresh rate, and will come with extremely tiny and symmetrical bezels on all sides. They will be significantly smaller than on the OnePlus 13. The phone also has "upgraded multi-function buttons", whatever that means, and the display's quality is said to be excellent despite the lower resolution, with amazing brightness and detail levels and lower power consumption. As you may have gathered, OnePlus is skipping the number 14 due to the presence of "4" which is considered bad luck in Chinese culture. The OnePlus 15 will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, which is getting official in late September. It's expected to sport a 7,000 mAh battery and a triple rear camera system with a 50 MP main snapper and a periscope zoom camera as well. Source 1 (in Chinese) | Source 2 (in Chinese)

Samsung Galaxy A17 5G in for review

Ivan, 12 August 2025 The Samsung Galaxy A16 was hugely popular, and it's very likely that its successor will be as well. Judging by the Galaxy A17 5G's specs page interest in our database, we'd say it's a certainty. The Galaxy A17 5G is now up for sale, though you may have trouble finding one on store shelves just yet. It costs €230 at the time of this article. It ships with a USB-C cable and nothing else, just like Samsung's entire Galaxy lineup. There isn't a night and day difference between the A17 5G and the A16 5G. Upfront sits the same, on paper, a 6.7-inch 1080p Super AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate. However, the glass on top is Gorilla Glass Victus this year. The triple camera system also sounds the same, but the main camera has a stabilized lens. By the way, we have the Black model, which features a nice matte finish that reflects light interestingly. There's a white-accented edge on the camera island, too. Finally, you get a 5nm Exynos 1330 SoC, which, depending on the chip you had in your regional Galaxy A16 5G, may be an upgrade or the same - some Galaxy A16 5G had this very same SoC, while others had the 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6300. Stay tuned for our review coming sometime next week!
