'Its a matter which is going to be handled by the court': Akshay Kumar opens up on Paresh Rawals sudden exit from Hera Pheri 3
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 27 (ANI): Bollywood star Akshay Kumar finally broke his silence on his ongoing feud with his co-star Paresh Rawal after the latter's sudden departure from their upcoming film 'Hera Pheri 3' after director Priyadarshan confirmed his arrival earlier this year.
At the trailer launch of 'Housefull 5', Akshay opened up on the online buzz around his movie 'Hera Pheri 3' following Paresh Rawal's sudden exit.
Despite the ongoing feud, the 'Dhadkan' actor supported Paresh Rawal over the alleged online troll reports against him.
"I wouldn't appreciate that people will use words like foolish for someone this senior," said Akshay Kumar at the trailer launch of Housefull 5.
The actor highlighted the professional and personal bond between him and Paresh Rawal.
He further said the ongoing event was not the "right place" to discuss the ongoing feud with Paresh Rawal, calling it an issue that would be "handled by the court."
"I have been working with him for the last 30 years. We are very good friends. He's a great actor and I really admire him. Jo bhi kuch hai (Whatever the matter is), I don't think this is the right place, I am not going to talk about it, for whatever is going to happen, since it is a very serious matter. It's a matter which is going to be handled by the court," said Akshay Kumar.
Paresh Rawal's sudden departure from the third instalment of the 'Hera Pheri' franchise shocked the film industry and fans.
After reports of Akshay Kumar suing Paresh Rawal for the inappropriate departure, Rawal shared an update on Sunday, saying that his lawyer has sent an "appropriate response" regarding his rightful "termination and exit" from the film to the makers.
Taking to his X handle, the actor wrote, "My lawyer, Ameet Naik, has sent an appropriate response regarding my rightful termination and exit. Once they read my response, all issues will be laid to rest."
While speculation initially suggested creative differences as the reason behind his decision, Paresh Rawal addressed these rumours in a public statement last week.
Taking to this X handle, the 'Hera Pheri' actor wrote, "I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from Hera Pheri 3 was not due to creative differences," he wrote on X, adding, "I REITERATE THAT THERE ARE NO CREATIVE DISAGREEMENTS WITH THE FILMMAKER. I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Mr. Priyadarshan, the film's director."
The much-awaited Hera Pheri 3 is being directed by Priyadarshan, that originally starred Akshay Kumar, Suneil Shetty, and Paresh Rawal in the lead roles. (ANI)

Shreyas Talpade calls Akshay Kumar his 'elder brother' and fitness guide; praises Nana Patekar's Marathi flair in ‘Housefull 5': ‘It's going to be a treat'
Brace yourselves for a full-blown comedy hurricane, because the 'Housefull' gang is back and this time, they're bringing in even more madness, mayhem, and laughter! With 15 years of non-stop chaos behind it, the iconic franchise is now heading for its fifth instalment – 'Housefull 5', releasing on 6 June, and promises to be the biggest, craziest one yet. In an exclusive chat with Etimes, Shreyas Talpade spilled the tea on everything from surviving rough seas during the shoot to being pampered by 'Akki bhai' ( Akshay Kumar ), and of course, what it's like to be back with the maddest bunch in Bollywood. From double endings to slapstick drama, Talpade gives insight into why this cruise comedy is ready to dock straight into box office gold. Back in the 'House': Shreyas on returning to the comedy carnival It's been over a decade since Shreyas last brought the laughs in 'Housefull 2', and now, he's stepping back into the loony universe of 'Housefull 5'. Talking about how it feels to be back in the madhouse? He replies, ''Housefull' feels like a family and I'm extremely happy to be a part of this complete mad universe. Getting back with all of them was great and extremely crazy at the same time.' Talking about not being a part of 'Housefull 3' and '4'he simply said, 'I'm sure there was nothing much to offer to me. But this time, the whole concept was completely different. The climax, as everybody knows, is completely different. There are 19-20 actors coming together to create a world which I'm sure people will enjoy watching.' Sajid Khan vs Tarun Mansukhani: Directors with distinct flavours of comedy Comparing the styles of the two directors who have helmed 'Housefull' films, Shreyas notes a fascinating contrast. Talpade explains, 'Sajid's school of filmmaking, what I've experienced, is completely over the top. He'll also make you ham at certain places, but he does it with so much conviction that you believe what he's saying. While Tarun is a little calmer than Sajid is but he gets into the slapstick zone with utmost conviction. ' Shreyas added that working with such varied directors pushes him as an actor. 'Their thoughts are different, their ideas are different, their conviction is different. As an actor, it challenges you to give it your best as per their school of filmmaking. The way the whole franchise has embraced these different styles is awesome.' 'Kapkapiii' to 'Housefull 5': Why back-to-back comedies? After delivering a punchy performance in the horror-comedy 'Kapkapiii' along with Tusshar Kapoor , Shreyas now again jumps straight into the madness of 'Housefull 5'. He says, 'As actors, we live for these challenges, one is a mystery comedy, and one is a horror comedy. Both have an element of slapstick in them. But I think that's what makes it interesting.' He credits the directors and writers for crafting unique characters that allow him to explore different comedic styles. Despite 'Kapkapiii' being delayed due to the passing of director Sangeeth Sivan. 'I'm grateful that I've had back-to-back releases. 'Kapkapiii' was really well received, and now I'm looking forward to 'Housefull 5', which is a whole new experience. As an actor, I feel truly lucky to get the chance to play such varied and interesting characters in every film. ' Shreyas recalls a storm while shooting on the cruise The cast of 'Housefull 5' reads like a who's who of Bollywood, featuring Abhishek Bachchan , Sanjay Dutt , Jacqueline Fernandez , Sonam Bajwa , and many more. The shoot took place on a cruise for 40 days, turning work into a non-stop party. But it wasn't all smooth sailing. Shreyas recalls a terrifying moment when the ship was caught in a storm, 'One of the most unforgettable incidents happened on the cruise itself. We were caught in the middle of a storm and the entire cruise ship kept moving up and down, sideways. All of us kept smiling and laughing, but inside we were really, really scared.' He said they were reminded of the safety drills from day one. 'It was one experience in life which ideally no one should really have… but now that we've gone through it, we know what happens in the middle of the ocean.' Still, he hopes that kind of storm hits the box office too – 'where people go crazy about the film and book as many tickets as many times as possible!' 'Akki bhai was the elder brother who took great care of me' Fans will be thrilled to see Shreyas reunited with Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh. The trio's chemistry is as solid as ever. Talpade shares, 'Working with both of them is not only fun, but they just keep you on your toes all the while – either with some pranks or some games. With Akki bhai, you can expect a lot of fun. Akki bhai was the elder brother who took great, great care of me. He was the one who assured my wife that, 'Don't worry, Shreyas is going to be fine on the cruise. ' He set a workout pattern for me. He set a diet regime. When he's around, you know you're going to be looked after – and I really want to thank him for everything he's done.' From 'Housefull' to 'Jungle': Double dose of comedy franchises Next up, Shreyas will be seen in 'Welcome to the Jungle', reuniting with Akshay once again. It's the third film in the hit 'Welcome' series and the actor is thrilled to be on board. 'That cast again is pretty huge, with so many actors and so many of them with great comic timing. So the kind of fun that we're having on the sets of 'Welcome to the Jungle' is pretty much equal to what we had on 'Housefull'. I feel blessed to be part of these popular franchises and to play an important part in all of them.' More Marathi masala with Nana Patekar's show-stealing acting If there's one thing fans are buzzing about, it's Nana Patekar's hilariously high-energy performance, especially his viral 'Phoogdi dance'. 'Yes, people have given us immense love. Especially when we get the Marathi angle in Hindi films, they love it even more,' said Shreyas. 'But this time, more than me and Riteish, it is Nana sir who's stealing the show… not only with his Fugdi dance, but his complete character.' Patekar plays a character called Dagdu Sir, complete with dhoti , kurta, and fierce energy. 'It is going to be a treat and a delight for all fans of Marathi cinema.' Talking about the dual ending murder mystery A murder mystery in a slapstick comedy? That's the twist 'Housefull 5' is promising – and even the cast was kept in the dark! 'The mystery was there while we were shooting! I think that was the best part – how we went about shooting this,' Shreyas said. 'When actors don't know who the killer is, their performance definitely changes.' Adding to the fun is a dual-ending twist, brainchild of Sajid Nadiadwala himself. 'When I heard it for the first time, I was quite blown away! And I'm sure people are looking forward to that.' Shreyas concluded with a heartfelt hope, 'I just hope people go out there in theatres in big numbers. The advance booking is looking great. So we really want to thank them for that. And I just hope they enjoy the film to the fullest. That is the only thing that will make us happy.' NDTV Exclusive: Director Tarun Mansukhani Picks His Funniest Housefull 5 Actor. It's Not Akshay Kumar
Quick Read Summary is AI generated, newsroom reviewed. Housefull 5, directed by Tarun Mansukhani, releases tomorrow with a new approach. Mansukhani acknowledges that the original Housefull remains unmatched and nostalgic. He addresses social media backlash, emphasizing the importance of feedback from fans. New Delhi: The year was 2010, and Sajid Khan's Housefull unleashed a laughter riot that to date, has become the only film in the long-running franchise that is fondly missed. Followed by multiple instalments thereafter, the fifth part drops tomorrow, with a new filmmaker, Tarun Mansukhani, taking over the director's seat. Ahead of one of the mega releases of 2025, Mansukhani is at his nonchalant best. No ifs or buts, in fact, he jokingly mentions, "The fear isn't whether the audience will come to the theatre, the question is, will they stay back until the curtain call? Will they discuss it?" In an exclusive conversation with NDTV, the filmmaker addresses if having an ensemble cast is just for the bling factor, why the comparisons with the OG Housefull will never stop, and no, Akshay Kumar might not be the funniest in the film this time. Why The Housefull Instalment Might Never Match Up To The First Part "The first experience of any film is like your first true love, right?" Mansukhani's way of looking at the situation at hand catches you off-guard. One would expect him to give a politically correct answer, stating that maybe the times were different, maybe 15 years ago, the audience just found the kind of humour they were looking for. The poster game of Housefull 1 was so strong man! — Naweed (@Naweed_19) May 30, 2025 Tarun Mansukhani explains, "The kind of butterflies that you feel and the excitement that you get from the first part when it becomes a core memory for you, is something that you can't compete with, so the love will always be compared. I can only hope you turn around and say that 5 was better than 1. But first love is first love." So, Is Tarun Mansukhani Oblivious To Social Media Backlash? Loyal fans of Housefull will always be divided. While some find it a passage of nostalgia to get lost in because the first instalment had everyone in splits. Some only have one question racing through their minds, "What is the need to continue?" And there's a whole debate on it on social media. Tarun Mansukhani has a straightforward approach to it. He says that one cannot be a saint and just pretend that it does not matter. Thoughts on Housefull 5 trailer? by u/vinaydembla12345679 in bollywood The filmmaker says, "It does affect you. It does bother you. Initially, and then I think I'm surrounded by true friends. I have a bunch of true friends who keep me grounded and allow me to understand that with good comes bad. If you push away the noise and hear what they're saying, you might learn a thing. Forget the tone that they're talking in. But if they are saying something, there might be something there for you to pick up on. And then maybe, one can use it to be wiser for their next film." Too Many Actors Forced Into A Film? One might say that having multiple stars in a mega-budget film is a trend that's coming back. It is obviously not new. We have seen it earlier in films like Salaam-E-Ishq, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Dhoom 2, and Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham. Most recently, Shah Rukh Khan's next ambitious film titled King with his daughter Suhana Khan has kept the online portals abuzz with additions like Rani Mukerji, Ranbir Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, and Ibrahim Ali Khan, to name a few. Housefull 5 has 17 actors onboard - Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Dino Morea, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Chitrangda Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Soundarya Sharma, Chunky Pandey, Nikitin Dheer and Johnny Lever. Is it just for the ornamentation needed to grab eyeballs and clock in the numbers, or maybe, there is gravitas to the casting being done? Tarun Mansukhani shares, "The predominant problem that I would face on set is not about having 17 mega stars on my set, it is having 17 characters in one frame." He adds, "How do you make sure that every character is continuously the same as they were in the previous scene? What is their story arc? How are they taking it forward and keeping those story elements alive, which was more of a pressure because those stories are also interlinked? So it's a bit of a complicated situation when you're there and then when you step out the next day or even when you watch the film, you have no idea." Truth be told, some cinemagoers have even cited reasons as to how it can get too confusing and exhausting to watch so many characters, and so many storylines going around in circles. But the director counterquestions, "We are also filmmakers, of course, we are going to make mistakes. I'm not saying that I make art, but for every piece of art that you pick up, somebody's going to find a flaw with it. And that's okay as long as you have a reaction to the piece of art is what's important." "I Was Strictly Told Not To Put A Big Star In The Film If It Does Not Justify Their Presence" The director reveals that he was told clearly not to cast big stars to simply face the camera and instead, make it worth the audience's money. The director shares, "Sajid so was clearer about it than even I was, is that you're not going to take a big star to just come and say hi on camera and go away. If they don't have a character that justifies their presence and time on screen, then it's no point taking them. It doesn't make sense financially. It's a disappointment for the fans. Everyone in this film has a role to play. You'll see." Chunky Panday's Aakhri Pasta Vs Jackie Shroff Chunky Panday might always be joking as "Aakhri Pasta", but the new director has a new favourite in Housefull 5. When we asked who he would pick as the funniest in the film, Tarun Mansukhani hardly hesitates. "Jackie Shroff." He says, "I think I would go with Jackie Sir on this one because Chunky, we've known as Pasta from the beginning, so there was already a preconceived notion. But now suddenly when I'm working with Jackie, for the first time and I get to see him, I cannot begin to tell you what kind of swag he has. And the kind of comic timing that he and Sanju [Sanjay Dutt] have is just another league of its own." Abhishek Bachchan's Vastly Untapped Comic Timing Tarun Mansukhani has a special bond with Abhishek Bachchan. The two had worked together in his directorial debut Dostana. One may argue that Junior Bachchan's impeccable comic timing has probably not been as explored as it should have been. We do not instantly think of comedy per se when his name comes up. 2 days till you're trapped on a cruise with multiple Jollys, a masked killer, and full-blown madness 😵💫 Are you even ready? #Housefull5 sails into theatres on June 6th! #AbhishekBachchan #Housefull #2DaysToGo #Bollywood #Newfilm #Movie #Trending #ABCrew — Team Abhishek (@BachchanJrFC) June 4, 2025 Mansukhani agrees, "Absolutely. I mean this is my second film with him and the second comedy as well with him. So, I know that he is extremely talented when it comes to this genre. Even though Dostana and Housefull are completely different kinds of comedies. One is dry humour and one is completely slapstick and a physical comedy. But he manages to blend into both so easily, and I hope that more people sign him for comedies because he has one of the best comic timings you can find in the industry." It's a big bad notorious gang, this time on a luxurious cruise ship sailing away. Tarun Mansukhani has made a mass entertainer, with a few laughs and two climaxes to crack, he hopes the audience keeps the theatres "Housefull" till the very end.
