Liverpool ready to let €60m deal collapse

Yahoo15-07-2025
Liverpool have plenty of deals that they are happy to agree, so that players who need to move elsewhere get that opportunity, but the financial offers need to make sense for the accounts.
It's rare that the Reds will sell someone for lower than their market. The club is extremely frugal.

Caoimhin Kelleher's move to Brentford for £12.5m plus £5.5m in add-ons might well have been seen as cheaper than expected, but in his circumstances, Liverpool promised him a chance to be No. 1.
With other player such as Darwin Nunez however, whom the club has spent a lot of money on, his departure is going to be for a high fee or it simply won't happen. Liverpool must limit their losses.
Liverpool might leave negotiations with Napoli
Interest in Nunez so far this summer has been primarily from Napoli and it's been a long drawn-out affair. Liverpool's asking price is reportedly a minimum of €60m (£51m) and no bid has come close.

The assumption is that if the Italian club really wants to sign Nunez, then they will pay up. After all, Victor Osimhen is set to leave for around €70m, so the money is there to be spent on a replacement.
But they aren't budging and according to Corriere Dello Sport, it is plausible that Liverpool might give up on the deal in not wanting to compromise their asking price. Richard Hughes is standing firm.
The latest report said: "Liverpool, just to give priority to the British, does not give a millimetre and continues to insist on the inadmissibility of its request for 60 million euros.
"The story has not changed, in the sense that the Reds are very firm on the demands and continue to insist on the price: Darwin is worth 60 million and even the 50 plus five offered by Napoli are not enough."

Fabrizio Romano Says PSG Confident in Signing Two Key Targets Amid Tottenham, Aston Villa Interest

PSG could add two players this month if negotiations go their way, considering both want to move to the French capital. The Parisians will reportedly have a new No. 1 goalkeeper and bolster their backline with another center-back. L'Équipe recently reported that PSG have stepped up their efforts to sign Lucas Chevalier, who is under contract through 2027. Talks over a five-year deal began, and Chevalier has already reached a broad agreement on personal terms. The Parisians are now preparing to open formal negotiations with Lille, with only minor details left to sort out. Moreover, the expected fee is at least €40 million, a price PSG have already discussed internally and are ready to meet. Meanwhile, journalist Ben Jacobs reported Friday that PSG have resumed talks to sign Bournemouth defender Illia Zabarnyi, who's already agreed to a five-year contract and is now waiting on the clubs to work out a deal—despite interest from Tottenham. Jacobs also noted that if the move happens, the final fee is expected to be closer to Bournemouth's €70 million asking price than the €60 million figure previously mentioned. That said, there's still some negotiating left before the deal is completed. PSG could be landing two players soonTransfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that PSG are confident they can complete deals for Zabarnyi and Chevalier in the next days. Zabarnyi's move has been in the final stages since Thursday, while PSG are still discussing add-ons with Lille for Chevalier. Much like Zabarnyi, Chevalier also drew interest from a Premier League club. ESPN recently reported that Aston Villa have reached out to LOSC Lille about a potential move for Chevalier. The Frenchman is considered a possible replacement for Emiliano Martínez, who is exploring a move away from the club. Nonetheless, it seems as though Aston Villa will be missing out.

Signed by Cowboys, La'el Collins last played in NFL regular season for Bengals in 2022

Former Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman La'el Collins is signing with the Dallas Cowboys after a workout with the team, according to Tommy Yarrish. Collins, 32, last played in an NFL regular-season game for the Bengals in December 2022, when he suffered a knee injury. Released by the Bengals in September 2023, Collins signed in 2024 with the Buffalo Bills, which moved him from tackle to guard. He was released in August 2024 by the Bills. Collins started all 15 games in which he played in his only season in Cincinnati. Collins played 74 games over six NFL seasons with the Cowboys to start his career. 2 cheap penny stocks for savvy investors to consider in August

Purchasing penny stocks can supercharge the growth prospects of an investor's portfolio. But issues like limited scale, inconsistent revenues, and thinner balance sheets — not to mention the added threat of share price volatility — can also make these small caps risky stocks to buy. Investors can manage the danger they take on, however, by snapping up penny shares that command low valuations. This pricing cushion can offer protection from share price drops if the company's growth plan doesn't pan out as expected. With this in mind, here are two top shares to consider this month. Screen idol The threat to cinema operators is severe as streaming companies like Netflix change the way we consume movies. Yet Everyman Media (LSE:EMAN) continues performing strongly, even as pressure on consumers' spending power persists. Everyman — which operates 48 theatres across the country — isn't your bog-standard multiplex owner. It offers a well-rounded experience, showing niche, independent, and foreign films alongside the usual blockbusters. What's more, patrons can grab a drink at its bars and go for a meal at its in-house restaurants, too, offering everything people need for a good night out. This value-added strategy is paying off handsomely. In the 26 weeks to 3 July, group revenues leapt 21%, to £56.5m. Admissions increased 15% from the same 2024 period; ticket prices rose 6%; and food and beverage spend per head was up 5.9%. Consequently, group EBITDA shot 33% higher over the period, to £8.2m. Everyman is confident its 'whole experience' model will continue delivering the goods, and is eyeing further expansion to its estate — it 'plans to open two additional venues in 2026', it's said, and enjoys 'a strong pipeline of future developments' too. Naturally, the ongoing streaming revolution will remain a threat to businesses like Everyman for the foreseeable future. But in the case of this penny stock, my view is the danger is more than baked into the cheapness of its shares. The screen idol's enterprise value (EV) to EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation) ratio is just 2.8 times. Any reading below 10 suggests a share could be undervalued. Property for pennies The second top penny share to consider is Schroder European Real Estate Investment Trust (LSE:SERE). Unlike many small caps, it offers the possibility of a large passive income as well as growth, which reflects its classification as a REIT. Under sector rules, at least 90% of rental-related profits must be paid out in dividends each year. Please note that tax treatment depends on the individual circumstances of each client and may be subject to change in future. The content in this article is provided for information purposes only. It is not intended to be, neither does it constitute, any form of tax advice. That's all well and good on paper. But with eurozone economies struggling for growth and inflationary pressures persisting, the trust's returns could theoretically disappoint in the near term. Such dangers wouldn't necessarily put me off if I had cash to invest, however. Over the long term, the company — which owns retail, office, and industrial assets, among others — has the potential to deliver spectacular earnings growth. Its focus on 'winning' cities with strong economies, robust infrastructure, and attractive environments (like Paris and Berlin) gives it an edge achieving impressive rental income growth. And, today, the trust offers excellent all-round value. It trades at an 31.8% discount to its net asset value (NAV) per share. As for those dividends, its forward yield is an enormous 7.6%.
