Adidas makes return to Manchester with huge nod to Oasis

Yahoo26-06-2025
Huge boards have gone up on Market Street ahead of the reopening of the adidas store. The site in the city centre is due to open on Thursday, July 3.
Teasing something special, the boards outside the shop are emblazoned with the opening date as well as a series of Oasis logos and nods to the imminent reunion tour, which kicks off next week in Cardiff before a run of dates in Manchester.
It comes off the back of the brand's recently announced partnership with the Manchester band, the announcement of their new 'Original Forever' campaign, and exclusive Oasis collection.

Last Thursday, Adidas announced their new adidas Originals x Oasis Live '25 apparel collection with 26-piece range of timeless sportswear branded staples in various colours including tracksuits and T-shirts.
Timeless adidas staples are available in store and online in various colours including Firebird tracksuits, raglan sleeve jerseys - iconically worn by Liam in a 90's charity football match - as well as bucket hats and coach jackets.
Chris Walsh - VP Brand, adidas commented at the time of the launch: "adidas and Oasis share a story defined by originality and cultural impact, with roots that run deep and have long been entwined in the fabric of music and style.
"This official partnership represents more than just two icons coming together; it reignites a timeless piece of cultural music history. 'Original Forever' continues to build on adidas' lasting legacy in music and celebrates the powerful role music and style play in shaping culture across generations,'
It is thought the collection will be available at the Market Street store when it opens next week and to mark the launch, the store is hosting a party to celebrate on Thursday 3rd July, from 6:30 to 9pm with a waiting list set up on ticketing site Eventbrite.
Other big Manchester music legends will be sound-tracking the event, including Mani from The Stone Roses, house music pioneer DJ Paulette, and local favourite DJ Polly.
Those who manage to get a ticket will be able to enjoy food from Manchester sandwich heroes Badabing, and drinks courtesy of Track Brewing Company.
A first-come-first-serve event, tickets have gone fast and only waiting list is now available. Those who have secured a ticket will also be able to pick up a limited adidas Originals goodie bags and take part in a raffle at the end of the night.
Manchester adidas and Oasis fans were able to take a closer look at the new collaboration last week when they headed down to the new Oasis Live '25 fan store in Spinningfields.
Opened last Friday, it is giving fans the chance to stock up on merch ahead of the gigs, bag memorabilia items and get into the spirit ahead of their five Heaton Park shows in just three weeks time.
Located in the old Iberica site on the Avenue in Spinningfields - opposite The Oast House - the shop had been under wraps for several weeks, and features a range of official Live 25 merchandise, including exclusive brand collaborations and limited-edition apparel including an upstairs area dedicated to the adidas and Oasis collaboration range.
In just over a week's time, Oasis will officially be back out on tour, hitting cities including Cardiff, Manchester and London as they head out on their Oasis Live '25 tour. It will represent the first time the Gallagher brothers have played live on stage in 16 years.
The adidas Market Street store is located at 52-56 Market Street Manchester M1 1PW. The store reopens on Thursday, July 3, one day before the band kick off their world tour at Cardiff's Principality Stadium.

3 great BritBox shows you should watch in August 2025

Although the U.K. film industry is not as large as its American counterpart, you sometimes find that the shows they make over there are at least as good as the average show made in Hollywood. If you're exhausted by American television, then BritBox might be the ideal solution. The streaming service exports everything that the Brits make for American audiences, and as a result, it has plenty of shows you've probably heard of, as well as a few you probably haven't. We've pulled together a list of three more obscure shows that are worth your time and can all be streamed on BritBox now. Recommended Videos We also have guides to the best new movies to stream, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on HBO Max, and the best movies on Disney+. House of Cards (1990) The British antecedent to the American series of the same name, House of Cards is very much about the same things in both versions. The four-episode miniseries follows a member of the U.K.'s Conservative Party who manipulates his way into power after being brushed aside. The series has a particularly Machiavellian view of politics, but it is undeniably a thrilling reminder of the way some politicians are always trying to find ways to amass more power. Anchored by a brilliant performance from Ian Richardson, the show was hugely influential for decades after its release. You can watch House of Cards on BritBox. Flowers (2016-2018) Olivia Colman is one of the great actresses of her generation, and Flowers is the type of comedy where she can excel. The series follows the eccentric Flowers family and dives into their family dynamics. It examines which members are suspicious of one another and which seem to be in constant competition. It's the kind of thing that we rarely get in the United States. Flowers seems to argue that all families are pretty messed up, even if most of their problems are relatively mundane when pulled apart. You can watch Flowers on BritBox. Waking the Dead (2000-2011) A long-running detective series in the style of American crime procedurals, Waking the Dead follows a group of detectives who utilize new technologies to solve cases that have gone cold. Like any procedural, Waking the Dead ultimately lives and dies based on the charisma of its central cast. Thankfully, this cast has it in spades. Over the course of nine seasons, we see them solve all sorts of cases. Waking the Dead is comforting precisely because it's conventional and because its quality is so high. You can watch Waking the Dead on BritBox.

BBC axes Survivor after one series

Survivor has been axed by the BBC. The reality series proved to be a ratings flop, and host Joel Dommett has now confirmed that it won't return for a second series. Joel, 40 - who has also hosted The Masked Singer since 2020 - told The Sun newspaper: "It just shows you how nothing is a given in telly. I thought Survivor would be huge. I thought that would be my job for the next 20 years. "I've done shows and thought that's not coming back and it keeps coming back and then you do something like Survivor, which you think is guaranteed and it doesn't come back." Earlier this year, Joel revealed that he was hoping for a second series of Survivor. The TV star also promised that changes would be made if the show came back. In an interview with the Metro newspaper, he said: 'Fingers crossed … there's a lot of stuff that we would do slightly differently. 'Like with every first series, it's hard, so I think a second series would be amazing. 'Everyone seems to really love it, so I'm excited that – hopefully – [we get to] do another one." The first episode of the rebooted Survivor - which launched in October 2023 - only received 2.6 million viewers, despite airing at the prime-time slot of 8:25pm on a Saturday, after Strictly Come Dancing. Survivor's second episode was then replaced by David Attenborough's Planet Earth III. A TV insider also previously claimed that the BBC was not keen on renewing the programme for another series. The source told the Daily Mail newspaper: 'It has come as a huge surprise that Survivor is coming back. 'It is viewed by many within the Beeb as being a very expensive flop and the general view was that it should – and would – be canned. 'To spend that amount of money on a programme that is watched by such few people surely is a silly way to spend public money."
