Bridgerton Season 4: Everything We Know About Benedict Bridgerton's ‘Forbidden' Love Story

Yahoo15-02-2025
Now that we've all had ample time to process our Polin feelings after Bridgerton season 3, it's time to start gearing up for Bridgerton season 4. Everybody hang on to your feelings, because another Bridgerton sibling is about to fall in love.
Here is everything we know about Bridgerton season 4:
Netflix officially announced that season four of Bridgerton will focus on Benedict, played by Luke Thompson. The Julia Quinn book that focused on Benedict, An Offer From a Gentleman, is a Cinderella story in which Benedict falls in love with a lowborn woman named Sophie, whom he meets in disguise at a masquerade ball.
Per the series' logline, 'Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down—until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother's masquerade ball.'
When we left Benedict in season 3, he had just ended a situationship of sorts with Lady Tilley Arnold. Memorably, Tilley had introduced Benedict to her friend Paul, and the three became lovers—though not without some hesitation on Benedict's part.
By the finale, Benedict and his sister Eloise bonded over feeling uncertain about their paths in life.
It's still unclear if or how Benedict's budding bisexuality will play out in the season, though Variety reports that showrunner Jess Brownell described season 4 as the 'most faithful' adaptation of Quinn's novels so far. According to fans, Benedict is not overtly homosexual in An Offer From a Gentleman. Variety reports that season 4 will, however, delve more into Regency-era class divides, leaning into 'the fairytale and forbidden love tropes.'
Unfortunately, it's still unclear when we get to see Benedict Bridgerton's love story unfold. In June 2024 showrunner Jess Brownell told The Hollywood Reporter that it would be a couple of years before the next season drops.
'We are working to try and put the seasons out more quickly, but they do take eight months to film and then they have to be edited, and then they have to be dubbed into every language,' Brownell said. 'And the writing takes a very long time as well, so we're kind of on a two-year pace, we're trying to speed up, but somewhere in that range.'
According to Variety, the show is currently in production.
Of course Thompson will return. Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Bridgerton (née Featherington), confirmed to The Wrap that she and Luke Newton, who plays Colin, will return for the fourth season. 'They've told us we're back for season 4, which is super lovely…. It'll be exciting,' Coughlan said. '[We'll] pop back and have some fun for sure.' You can catch a glimpse of the new parents below.
In fact, most of the main cast is back, including Victor Alli (Lord John Stirling), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), Julie Andrews (the voice of Lady Whistledown), Lorraine Ashbourne (Mrs. Varley), Masali Baduza (Michaela Stirling), Hannah Dodd (Francesca Stirling), Daniel Francis (Lord Marcus Anderson), Ruth Gemmell (Violet Bridgerton), Florence Hunt (Hyacinth Bridgerton), Martins Imhangbe (Will Mondrich), Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton), Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Will Tilston (Gregory Bridgerton), Polly Walker (Portia Featherington), Emma Naomi (Alice Mondrich), and Hugh Sachs (Brimsley).
As for Kate and Anthony's potential return? Brownell told Glamour that she has 'some really exciting thoughts for them both in season 4, and we're working on it' but that nothing was confirmed: 'There is hope to have them back as much as we are able to make happen.'
By August 2024, however, Jonathan Bailey had confirmed his return on Good Morning America. 'The thing about Bridgerton, which is so brilliant, is that there are so many different ways that you can fall in love as humans, and that's what the show will explore and, obviously, being the older brother, I'm gonna be there to support the youngsters as we go,' he said.
Simone Ashley will also return as Kate Sharma, per Variety.
On September 11, Netflix announced that Dune: Prophecy and Halo star Yerin Ha had been cast as Sophie Baek.
'Sophie Baek has been forced to spend much of her life working as a maid for the most demanding employer in the ton,' the press release says. 'But the resourceful Sophie always finds a way to persevere through her circumstances—which will drastically change after she disguises herself to attend Violet Bridgerton's masquerade ball and meets Benedict Bridgerton.'
On February 14 (yes, Valentine's Day), Ha and Thompson made their red carpet debut at a 'Season of Love'–themed Bridgerton event—and their off-screen chemistry is pretty palpable. For better or worse, fans are bound to ship the pair IRL (it's just what happens); just remember that Thompson is rumored to be dating his other Bridgerton costar, Harriet Cains.
And here are the couple in their respective roles:
As a second Valentine's Day treat, Netflix released a teaser video of a stunning masquerade ball—and a pretty mystifying introduction to our new leading lady.
Plus, more pics!
We'll update this post as we learn more about the season. Stay tuned!

‘The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox,' Plus 6 Things to Watch on TV This Week

Between streaming and cable, there is a seemingly endless variety of things to watch. Here is a selection of TV shows and specials that are airing or streaming this week, Aug. 18-24. Details and times are subject to change. Twisted tales. In 2007, Amanda Knox, an American college student who was studying abroad in Italy, was arrested for the murder of Meredith Kercher, a fellow exchange student and her roommate at the time. Two years later she was convicted, then in 2011, Knox was acquitted after the appeal showed there was not enough DNA evidence to definitively match to her. In 2013, with Knox now back in the United States, Italy's highest court ordered a new trial, ultimately acquitting her in 2015. The 2016 Netflix documentary 'Amanda Knox' dove deep into the case, including interviews with the subject herself. Now a fictionalized version is coming to streaming: 'The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox' stars Grace Van Patten as Knox, who is also an executive producer. The eight-part limited series goes through the arrest, the contentious interrogation and the trial. Streaming Wednesday on Hulu. Imagine you are the prime minister of Britain and the president of France is coming for a state visit — but suddenly your husband gets kidnapped and the president starts getting blackmailed. What happens next? That's what we'll find out in the new fictional series 'Hostage.' In the show's not-historically-accurate but idealized world of diversity and gender equality, both the leaders are women, played by Suranne Jones and Julie Delpy. Streaming Thursday on Netflix. Based on the novel of the same name by Robert Thorogood, the second season of 'The Marlow Murder Club' comes to small screens this week. Samantha Bond stars as Judith Potts and Jo Martin, Cara Horgan and Natalie Dew round out the cast. The group of women work to investigate a brutal murder and follow clues to try to stop the killer. Tom Hanks Honors Astronaut Jim Lovell, Who He Portrayed in ‘Apollo 13': ‘God Speed You, on This Next Voyage'

Tom Hanks has shared a tribute to James A. Lovell, the astronaut he portrayed in the 1995 feature 'Apollo 13.' Lovell died Thursday at the age of 97. The film, directed by Ron Howard, starred Hanks as Lovell and dramatized the Apollo 13 lunar mission, which faced an explosion after launching and forced NASA scientists to improvise solutions to return its crew safely to Earth. 'There are people who dare, who dream, and who lead others to the place we would not go on our own. Jim Lovell, who for a long while had gone farther into space and for longer than any other person of our planet, was that kind of guy,' Hanks wrote in a tribute shared on his social media platforms. 'His many voyages around Earth and on to so-very-close to the moon were not made for riches or celebrity, but because such challenges as those are what fuels the course of being alive — and who better than Jim Lovell to make those voyages.' More from Variety 'Apollo 13' Sets Imax Rerelease for 30th Anniversary- Film News in Brief The Rise of Ramo from Two-Person Law Firm to Industry Player Tom Hanks on Narrating 'The Americas,' the Power of Telling the Truth and Being Referred to as 'America's Dad': 'I'm Going to Treat That Seriously' 'On this night of a full Moon, he passes on — to the heavens, to the cosmos, to the stars. God speed you, on this next voyage, Jim Lovell,' the statement finishes. Howard also shared a statement honoring Lovell, as did his 'Apollo 13' producer Brian Grazer. 'Rest in peace, Commander Lovell. Navy test pilot, Gemini 7, Gemini 12, Apollo 8 and, of course, Apollo 13,' Howard wrote. 'Simply knowing Jim has been a tremendous honor. His combination of intellect, courage and commitment to duty made him one of the most remarkable individuals I've ever met. His support of our movie-making efforts inspired authenticity and elevated our process in so many ways. Thank you, sir, for your service to our country and to humankind.' 'Jim Lovell was a true American hero whose courage, intellect, and grace under pressure inspired a nation,' Grazer wrote. 'He was not only a legend in space exploration, but also an incredibly generous, kind and inspiring man. Thank you, Commander Lovell, for showing us the best of what we can be.' Lovell died Thursday in Illinois. He was 97. Along with Apollo 13, he was a veteran of three other spaceflights: Gemini VII, Gemini XII and Apollo 8. Released by Universal in June 1995 as a summer tentpole, 'Apollo 13' drew critical acclaim for its recreation of the nearly tragic mission and the nose-to-the-grindstone labor that saved lives. The film earned $355 million globally against a $52 million production budget, ranking as the third-highest-grossing global release of its year. It earned nine Academy Award nominations, including in best picture, and won two prizes, in best film editing and best sound. To commemorate its 30th anniversary, 'Apollo 13' is re-releasing to Imax theaters on Sept. 19.
