About Bimal Parekh
Behind every Bollywood blockbuster and superstar paycheck, there's a quiet powerhouse who makes sure the numbers add up — and for over four decades, that man has been Bimal Parekh . Known as the financial brain behind stars like Aamir Khan Katrina Kaif , and Ranbir Kapoor , Parekh isn't just a chartered accountant — he's the industry's go-to financial whisperer. But when it comes to sharp money minds, the celebrity he rates the highest is one of the top actresses of the industry. Can you guess who?In a recent chat with The Hollywood Reporter, Parekh revealed that among all his high-profile clients, it's Katrina Kaif who has the keenest financial acumen. According to him, the Ek Tha Tiger actress takes an interest, noting that while actors like Aamir and Ranbir Kapoor are less "bothered" in the day-to-day money matters, Katrina stays hands-on. Parekh also praised Ritesh Sidhwani and The Family Man's Krishna DK (of the Raj & DK duo), calling them financially savvy as well.Parekh's journey began in the mid-1980s at a CA firm that managed the accounts of legends like Zeenat Aman and B.R. Chopra. When he branched out on his own, his boss handed him two key clients: Zeenat and a young debutant named Aamir Khan. That single handoff would mark the beginning of one of the most trusted relationships in the film industry. As Aamir gained stardom, so did Parekh's client list — with Juhi Chawla, Farhan Akhtar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ashutosh Gowariker, and even Shah Rukh Khan eventually coming on board.Having guided the finances of not just individual stars but entire production powerhouses like Excel Entertainment, Tiger Baby, Bhansali Productions, and more, Parekh has helped redefine how Bollywood approaches business. He revealed that he and his team pioneered the now-famous backend profit-sharing model in Bollywood, first experimenting with Aamir Khan's films. Rather than charging an upfront fee, Aamir opted for a share in the profits — a move that paid off massively during Dangal and ensured Laal Singh Chaddha didn't leave its studio in the red, even if Aamir himself earned less. He is now a name revered across the corridors of Bollywood's elite.

‘Kajra Re was the worst-rated in Bunty aur Babli, marketing team called it…': Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy on how Aishwarya-Amitabh-Abhishek song got popularity
Bunty Aur Babli's 'Kajra Re' may be one of those rare songs that refuses to age, but the song received a big thumbs down from the suits at Yash Raj before its release, recalled musical trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. In a new conversation, Ehsaan Noorani revealed that after an internal evaluation, the song which starred Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, with lyrics by Gulzar, landed on bottom of the list. The trio have shaped the soundscape of Bollywood for more than two decades. They have scored movies like Dil Chahta Hai (2001), My Name is Khan (2010), Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011) and Rock On (2008), just to name a few. They have also composed the music for Aamir Khan's upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par and its 2007 prequel Taare Zameen Par. In a recent interview, the trio talked about their Bollywood projects and what all transpires behind the scenes when they are composing an album for a film. While making an appearance on the YouTube channel Just Filmy Things, the trio shed some light on their previous work. Ehsaan Noorani shared an anecdote about the song Kajra Re from the film Bunty Aur Babli (2005) and how the marketing team of the film initially did not give the song its due. He said, 'They did an internal evaluation about which song from the film will do well, and Kajra Re was at the bottom of the list. A bunch of people from marketing came together and gave feedback after listening to the song. It just so happened that 4 days after the song came out, I was coming out of the Mumbai airport, and a wedding band was already playing 'Kajra Re.'' Ehsaan also talked about how choosing Alisha Chinai to sing the female part of the song was an unprecedented move, but it still elevated the song to a new level. ALSO READ: Sitaare Zameen Par first review: Sudha Murty calls Aamir Khan's comedy-drama an 'eye-opener' that offers 'deep philosophical lessons The trio also talked about the experience of working with Aamir Khan as a collaborator and how he perceives the music while it is being written and recorded. Shankar said, 'He is there all the time, and he is almost like a kid.' One time he called Amitabh Bhattacharya (lyricist) while he was vacationing in Kashmir and told him to rework the lyrics of a song.' The 'Breathless' singer added that many times Aamir will like the rough take of the song more and will decide to keep it in the movie, and that is what happened with 'Maa' from Taare Zameen Par and 'Good For Nothing' from Sitaare Zameen Par. 'If something clicks for Aamir, then nothing can be changed in it.' Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par will see Aamir play the role of a basketball coach who has been tasked with teaching the game to a group of neurodivergent kids. The cast of the film includes Aamir Khan, Genelia Deshmukh, Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishnan Varma, Vedant Sharmaa, Naman Misra, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain and Ashish Pendse, among others. The music has been composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, while the background score and lyrics of the songs are the creation of Ram Sampath and Amitabh Bhattacharya. The film releases on June 20.

After saying he quit alcohol, Aamir Khan admits he got ‘blackout drunk' on 60th birthday, doesn't remember any of the speeches guests made about him
Actor Aamir Khan, who recently turned 60, said that he doesn't remember anything that happened at the party his family threw for him, because he drank too much. He said that speeches were made about him, but he doesn't remember them. He woke up the next day to zero memory of what had happened, even though he had pictures and videos to look at. Aamir is currently promoting his new film, Sitaare Zameen Par, and he appeared in an interview with Mashable India, where he spoke about cutting down on his alcohol consumption. He said, 'Everyone organised a birthday party for me on my 60th. They invited all my near and dear ones, it was supposed to be a memorable day. I don't drink much these, I've cut down alcohol consumption to almost zero. But that day, because it was a big birthday, everybody insisted that I have a drink or two. The thing with me is that I'm not someone who restricts himself; I'm an extreme person. And because I haven't been drinking much, my body wasn't used to it. We started at around 7 pm, and by 9 pm, I knew that I was buzzing.' Also read – Javed Akhtar compares religion to alcohol, says both are fine but only in moderation: 'Two pegs are never enough' He continued, 'This has happened to me a few times. When I woke up the next morning, I had no memory of the previous evening. There were videos and photos, and they told me that everyone said nice things about me, but I didn't remember anything. It was a blackout. I was conducting myself normally during the party, but I have zero memories of my 60th birthday celebration. I was reacting to what people were saying about me, but the memory has been wiped out completely.' It was a few years ago that Aamir first claimed to have gone sober because of his past experiences with alcohol. In a conversation with Nana Patekar last year, he said, 'I smoke a pipe. Now I have quit drinking but at one point, I used to drink. And when I used to drink, I would drink all night. I could not stop.' He said that he sank into a deep depression following his divorce from first wife Reena. 'I couldn't sleep at night, and I started drinking. From someone who didn't drink at all, I went to being someone who drank an entire bottle in a day. I was like Devdas, someone who is trying to destroy themselves. I did that for 1.5 years. I was in a deep depression,' he told Instant Bollywood.
